Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hmm i wouldnt say there's only those two. If anything Insua has looked out of his depth anyway, certainly not doing any better than Dossena (another player given no time to adapt). Martin Kelly looked promising on his debut and then theres Nemeth and Pacheco who are potentially very good but as yet unproven at first team level. There's also a few others like Kalanenic (?? cant remember his name!),Bruna, Plessis, Ayala and Spearing who may or may not make it as regulars but have shown promise.

That said i agree with YG in the sense that Macheda, Welbeck, the Da Silva's, Anderson and Obertan have proven that they can compete at first team level whereas the Liverpool youngsters havent (bar Ngog).

Then there's Jonny Evans who a step above them all.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Insua was very good last season, and started this season very well. Got a call from the national team. Has been poor last few games, but comparing him to Dossena is very unfair. And if you're including Anderson, I'll include Lucas. And how is Obertan any more proven than Ecclestone?

Truth is, you have Evans whose stepped into the first team, we have Insua. That's about it. The other are still on the fringes, and it's way too early to say if they'll make the step up required.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Thats a load of BS. You lot hardly ever play your youngsters unless its a Carling Cup or something, we on the other hand play them almost every game and we're 8 points ahead of you.
I'm sorry but theres no way you can say both sets of youngsters are at the same level.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah come on Abhi, how is Obertan more proven than Ecclestone? Over 30 senior appearances including Champions League for us and Bordeaux and played for the French u21s compared with Eccleston's 2 substitute appearances.

I would say Anderson and Lucas are similar though.

Proven, for United that is. Except Insua, and Evans, none of the players you mention are starting regularly, are they? They're still on the fringes. I could mention 10 players from our reserves to show how many youngsters have played for us, but that's not the point.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah but ours feature regularly, yours have mainly made late sub appearances in nothing games, thats what we're saying. Read my first post, initially i was defending the amount of decent young players you have, but there's no doubt ours of a similar age are a lot further along in their development.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rafael 1 Gerrard 0. Ofcourse their not all first team regulars. their not THAT good yet but I'd say their all Squad members which I don't think most of yours are apart from Insua and Ngog. The others have made max 2 appearance all season for the first team.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Could do with Kuyt being replaced by Benayoun or something. He's been completely ineffective (again) and he's had a good few chances to get his head on the ball or get an assist but he's just been rubbish again.

Ngog is doing well holding up the ball and running into space, he's progressing very well.

We could do with knocking the ball around a bit and tire Everton out. They're chasing everything and they wont be able to constantly chase us if we spread out a bit more and make them work more than we have been.

Edit: I'll take that :D Not very good from Liverpool but we defended well, kept a clean sheet and got another win. Good stuff :)

Glad Aquilani didn't get on the pitch either, Everton would've kicked all kinds out of him knowing he's coming back from injury.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Did absolutely nothing to deserve winning that game.

God awful till 70 minutes, but then Everton tired out, and we didn't. Two lucky goals, and superman saves from Pepe. Don't care though, we've been in the worst form our team's had in the last few years, and we're not just going to smash through it. Need to win dirty, and at least we're on a bit of a run, and a clean sheet to boot. Need to play out of this, and hopefully, it's coincided with Aquilani starting a game (PLEASE).

Pepe's a hero.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's not a thread i usually tread. A bit to

yet you'll watch AC Milan defend for 90 minutes every week.

Did enough today against an average/poor side.

As they say, it's a sign of greatness when you can play shite against a small club and still come out with the 3 points :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

Great result, and "great" performance. Actually we were poor and Everton deserved the win, but that's what made it great; We were actually the poorer team on the day, had some luck and actually won again. Can't remember a game this season, or last, that we were dominated as much as yesterday. Gives us hope, especially as the top4 "challengers", after beating us are only one win ahead. So much for the change this season.....

Re: Liverpool Thread

Complete reversal of our season where we've dominated games and not won, whereas yesterday Everton were the better team but we won.

After the shitty luck we've had (I'm looking at you, beach ball), I'll take the deflections etc right now.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Valdes is pretty good IMO. Has really come on in the past 2 years. He's also taller and better at crosses. But Reina is awesome at shot stopping, one of the best in the world.

Am I the only one that hates when footballers celebrate own goals/deflections like they've just done something amazing? Zamora earlier in the season got hit by a shot in the back and celebrated like he'd just scored the goal of the century. It's embarassing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Mascherano's was a case of him scoring (or having a big part in) only his second goal for the club against Everton at a time when we're really struggling to score and win games. The feeling of elation would've pretty damn big I think.

Zamora is lucky to be involved in anything like a goal, I can see why he'd celebrate as well

You think i follow Milan? The pic and sig are a homage to my BAL character.

Rubin Kazan for me:P

Re: Liverpool Thread

AC Milan is one of the most classiest prestigious Club in the world imo and does defend well too :p

Re: Liverpool Thread

Where did all the liverpool and the 'occasional' red devils fans go? :P

50 games for Gerrard, going on strong, and tonight they have to keep an eye for David Dunn. He's back from the dead.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Only heard the last 20 mins on the radio but El Zhar instead of Aquilani? I like El Zhar as much as the next guy, but has Aquilani been bought just to sit on the bench or something? The guy has been in full training for weeks now, and has played less than 10 mins for us? What the hell is going on with him?
