Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

If you continue to crumble like this then I wouldnt bet against Torres saying the same thing this time next year.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Torres' contract isn't due to end for another 5 years or something though, so he cant be saying the same thing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

 Its quite clear what I'm trying to say.
Both players having years left on the contract and still getting what they want when they ask for a move. Its got nothing to do with personality.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well it has really. Torres is a Liverpool fan and has wanted to play for us since he was young. Ronaldo is a mercenary who wants money and attention, and doesn't care about the club as long as he gets what he wants.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Meh, don't really mind Mascherano leaving. There are better midfielders out there, who have much more about them.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Been impressed with Aquilani so far, looks very composed and some very nice touches. Impressed with his attacking attitude as well.

Can't say that about the rest of the team though, pretty awful otherwise. Kuyt still refuses to stay up front so Fiorentina's defence don't have to even worry about marking a striker. Benayoun has showed glimpses but nobody has looked particularly good. Losing too much possession for my liking.

Kuyt was awful, Insua was poor again, Gerrard and Benayoun were anonymous for about 80 minutes.

The only player that seemed to actually care yesterday was Dossena imo, he never gave up chasing the ball and spent a lot of time in Fiorentina's area and actually switched with Torres a few times once he came on. He may not be the best defender but he's quick and strong and puts the ball in the box, he often crosses the ball into great positions with pace but the problem is we have noone attacking the ball at the time (because Kuyt is checking our defensive line is solid or something).

All-in-all not a good performance, but it was basically like a pre-season game, Rafa used it to get Gerrard, Aquilani and Torres some minutes before Sunday.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Did you see that when Kuyt was brought off on 67 mins or so, his stats said Shots 0? Shocking :SHAKE:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yet another example of the great Argentine loyalty...

Re: Liverpool Thread

The problem is you can't really argue. He wanted to leave last season when you were 2nd. You've gone backwards so its not like he's been made to change his mind.

About Torres, your pretty lucky to be honest as their aren't many destinations for him otherwise there would be major speculation right now.

I agree, but I dont think of anyone who would come to Liverpool. We have no money to buy them (if we sell Mascherano we will, but it has to be right now, otherwise his price will reduce dramatically) and the names that come to my mind as replacement are Essien who is much better and, maybe Felipe Melo can do well, but I dont think he is better than Mascherano. Maybe Deffour can do well.

I'd swap Yaya Toure in an instant.

Me too. I forgot about him. Actually, we could swap him and get also some cash. It would be a clever choice, but i think that for Rafa´s plans with Aquilani work, we need Mascherano. But, we´ll just have to see. If Mascherano really wants to go, we should sell him this January and not wait till he only has 1 year left on his contract.

Re: Liverpool Thread

If he does go do you think we can convince him to take Insua with him?! I know he's young and all that, but I just don't think he has the physical ability to be our left back, he just doesn't seem able to jump high enough to defend any decent cross.

In this one, I dont agree. I think that Insua has an excellent prospect, he is still very young and has plenty of time to improve, and also, he is not like Mascherano, he is very grateful to Benitez and loves living in Liverpool. I am from Argentina, and some months ago he was in a program and told all these stuffs. He also said that Gerrard is doubtless the best player of the world.

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's got more rights to say things like that than any fan or pundit given that neither of those have played with any players, let alone "greats".

Re: Liverpool Thread

Most pundits are ex-footballers and you'd still agree that most of them don't seem to know what they're talking about despite their past experience. Add this to the fact that Insua is 19 and has played with at most 100 professional players, I'd say he doesn't necessarily know any better.

Thats what we all thought about Kaka:(

Thank You. The best example you can possibly give. I mean, theres nothing negative about Kaka's personality, yet he moved too.

When the time comes and the circumstances are right, any player would move. And I think Rafa being sacked would play a huge part in this.

Oh cheer up Dags, where did I say anything about Argentina having shit players? :CONF: The kid plays with Messi FFS.

I'm just saying when a young player brown-noses his club captain in an interview claiming he's 'doubtless the best player in the world' it might just not be true? Or I suppose now Insua's come out with this Messi will be handing the Ballon d'Or over to Stevie Starfish at Anfield at the weekend as he feels he doesn't deserve it anymore?

But didn't Kaka move because the club needed the money? He wasn't asking to go and didn't want to go but with the club needing the money and the oppertunity to go to Real's project he went.

If Rafa is sacked it would depend on who they bring in to replace them, if it's a nobody like Klinsmann they yeah, they would be off.

@ Younggun, atleast get one with a halfdecent photoshop effort! :D

Agree, but he's not going to learn to jump is he? The amount of times a cross has gotten over him and to the attacker this season is too many. He can learn to position himself better but he just doesn't seem to have it in him atm.

I agree about Dossena; he showed real willingness to get involved.
