Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Aaaaaand back to it being a Liverpool thread? ;)

Odd that this thread always seems to sidetrack to discussing Utd players.

Re: Liverpool Thread

If I had any doubts about missing classes tomorrow to see Liverpool-Arsenal, this will do it.

Doesn't work, plus we already have that for Mascherano so it'd be shit.

A better one would be to "Mambo Italiano"

Alberto, Alberto Aquilani, Alberto, Alberto Aquilani (instead of "Hey mambo, mambo Italiano")

Much better. You re right. Altough I think that the other one works perfectly, but it would be shit considering Masche has that song.

Re: Liverpool Thread

There's too many syllables in the other one for it to work.

EDIT - there isn't, just worked it out, you'd have to make 'Alberto' really short/quick though.

Mambo Italiano works though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh well.

Quick summary. Voronin is shit, Babel is (for the most part apart from flashes) shit, Aquilani showed more promise in 15 mins than most of the team did in 90 mins, awful defending for the Arsenal second, should've been a penalty for Senderos' handball in injury time.

Our depth to the squad is embrassing when you look at the Arsenal team tonight.

Re: Liverpool Thread

ngog did well, voronin should of gone off

thought degen played better than normal

still piss poor team performance tho

and our keeper, is shit

Re: Liverpool Thread

eh?

seriously, i thought we were good and if we did get an equaliser it wouldnt have been harsh on Arsenal. Arsenal were at home and playing the likes of Silvestre/Nasri/Bendtner, and youngsters who have a lot of first team experience.

Thought Ngog did everything well apart from scoring, Degen was back to his 2006 levels of actually being a very potent, enegetic full back.

Glad Insua got a goal, he had a good game too.

Babel was poor apart from the knock down for Insua, and Voro suprisingly had some good moments with quite a few bad uns.

Disapointments for me were Plessis and Spearing, they let Arsenal have too much space in midfield.

Re: Liverpool Thread

yeah , Pool played well it was 50/50 either way both creating lots of chances.I thought Senderos was playing NFL for a bit look like a wide receiver holding that ball in the box. Anyhoot it was a good match from my end I was biting tooth to nails w/ all the ping-pong passing near our box lol just clear the ball w/ a heavy boot crikey!

Yeh i agree with everything you said, Degen was impressive going forward and Voronin actually looked arsed for a change, he didn't stop all game even after getting a knock, he had a few poor touches and his final ball wasn't great at times but he was 100x better than Babel tonight.

Re: Liverpool Thread

That miss summed Babel up for me, a cross coming in from the right, running diagonally towards it and you try to f#$king hit it with your right foot?!?!?! He must be one of the thickest footballers around! He pulled the same sh!t against Portsmouth last season, or the season before. In front of an open goal, 2-1 down and he missed that completely aswell. And 9/10 times he's in space on the wing with the ball, left side completely open.....and he goes inside with 3 defenders waiting there for him! Only saw him go wide once, and he left de defender for dead and won a corner. I'm not surprised Rafa said; "We can only give him so much training and instructions before they go out onto the pitch".

Thought the rest of the team were decent actually, Degen suprised me with his pace, should have scored aswell. Ngog was strong up front and showed his pace and skill. Can't say I rate Spearing, there just seems to be something missing, but maybe that can be trained.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Spearing was one of the ones who I thought looked good to be honest. You can see he's been learning from Gerrard and I think he'll be a pretty good player in the future.

I remember Gerrard breaking into the first team and he didn't exactly stand out. And we all know how he panned out.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I can tell you he definately didn't on his debut, and then a number of games after that :) Not in my opinion anyway :)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeh when Gerrard came through he looked really nervous most of the time, he didn't play much in his first season, seem to remember him making plenty of mistakes but never hid, sort of like Spearing now, although I can't see Spearing making it here unfortunately.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Spearing reminds me of Simon Pegg, but redder.

I thought your 'reserves' gave a good account of themselves. Both teams played 'kids' who have little to no experience, and a lot of the experienced players (Bendtner, Nasri, Aquilani) were coming back from injury. Was nice and open, haven't seen a Pool game like that in a while.

I thought N'Gog looks really promising, much better than Babel. Who was rubbish.

Does anyone else think that old Greek guy and Voronin would make a great combo of bad guys in a bad action film?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Spearing doesn't look good enough IMO. Insua is already part of your first team squad and looks a good prospect. Ngog looks decent, still only 20.

Re: Liverpool Thread

i think spearing needs time, hes not gonna be amazing in only his first few games. Hes fairly comfortable on the ball and can pass forward so theres promising signs.

In a couple years time he will turn out to be a good player

Re: Liverpool Thread

Spearing has the abillity, he didnt have the best of games, but he stands out at reserve level like Ngog and Insua do and looks like he can make the jump up. But of course its all a matter of experience, he needs to be eased in.

He came on against Madrid and was constantly wanting the ball, moving it about and surging into space. Hes got a great scoring/assist rate at reserve level.

If Spearing makes it he can join our growing list of uggos :D

I was dissapointed Pacheco couldnt play. He was due a first team debut but the Spanish FA called him up for u-18 duty.

Apparently, Alberto has picked up a virus. Hope he can play tomorrow, but i think that it will be difficult.
