Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh, and I'll say, Johnson was a rock at the back.

Having a match fit Agger make's such a difference.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Good win, You lot deserved it but fuck me even when we were poor we could have got something out of that.

Enjoy it lads as come May...:))

Re: Liverpool Thread

Very pleased with Agger and especially Lucas today. Dair does for United never giving up. Fantastic boost in confidence for N'gog.

Just read this:

And today makes it official -- Rafa has more wins from his first 200 league games as Liverpool manager than any other Liverpool manager in history, Bob Paisley included

Re: Liverpool Thread

That's all Vidic is good at.

I can recall more times when he's clattered into someone totally missing the ball than I can match saving tackles.

yep over-rated and he demonstrated it today, he was sluggish and indecisive.

Torres was immense today, played alot more intelligently than usual, and wasnt so wasteful, took his chance brilliantly.

Special mention to Aurelio, Mash (maybe too passionate), Lucas and DANIEL AGGER, HE WAS BRILLIANT, WHAT A BOOST to have him back and fit

What a matured coming of age performance from this man too: Did a klinsman infront of the kop after the ngog goal :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well Torres wasnt trying to take people on and just run into people as he is prone to do, what I meant was he was intelligent, he drew fouls, he used his body more, he wasnt trying to be fancy, but when he was needed he burst into life.

Voro was probably thinking, this Ngog lad keeps scoring, I'll never get a game.

That was my feeling when I first saw the images. At the end of the day, Ngog seems ahead in the pecking order.

And Ngog is taking his chances, his games/goals ratio is pretty good and there's no point bringing Voronin on when Ngog is performing much better.

Re: Liverpool Thread

yes although they are a different types of player, we've got Benayoun and Gerrard for the Support Striker role. Ngog is a line leading striker like Torres.

Glad hes getting game time and scoring from his limited chances, he seems to have a great attitude, he understands he's always going to be second fiddle to Torres at the moment, but who better to learn off. Torres' movement is first class, master that and it gives you a headstart.

Also pleased that Rafa is persisting with Insua. His inexperience is a weak link but he is really maturing, game time will do that. We'll see how he handles Lucas's rejuvinated form when Aquilani is fully match fit.

Really looking forward to seeing how we play with Benayoun, Agger, Aquilani, Gerrard, Torres, Mash, Johnson all in the same team.

Definitely.

Pundits also seem to be noticing just how good Yossi is. 5M spent brilliantly.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I would prefer having Aurelio on the left rather than Benayoun. I would live Yossi for the final 30 min.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Incredible how Spurs got nearly 50M for two extremely, overrated players.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Prices for Premiership players are rediculous of course Abhi, I mean £24m for Lescott? Potentially £20m for Bridge?

Makes you wonder what Messi would've been worth last season.

Since signing Carrick for about £18m we've won 3 prem titles, a CL title and gotten rather far into most competitions.

Since signing Macherano for about £18m you've...oh.

Criticise the £32m on Berbatov all you want and I'll agree with you, but Carrick's purchase was a great return no matter how you look at it.

Meant Keane and Berbatov. Was supposed to post that in the United thread :P

They've both been so utterly useless. How fortunate we were to recover most of the money back for Keane.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I dont think carrick offers alot more than an average midfielder.

I know hes a different player but Fletcher is alot better than him. If Carrick was as good as the team he plays in... then he would be ahead of the likes of Barry for England starting places....but he just isnt. Carricks influence for those 3 titles is questionable, it was more down to the solid centre back partnership and Ronaldo being outstanding.

Carricks Good passer but too inconsisent for me and gets knocked off the ball too easily.

Re: Liverpool Thread

His influence on the 06/07 title was wide-reaching I thought. He brought some calm to our midfield and linked with Scholes fantastically well.

Since then though he's been prone to the odd terrible game or the bad patch of form that would last for a bit. I think in the big games he tries too hard and then panicks when nothing comes off, and that's when he gets found out.

He's still a fantastic player, but I agree, Fletch is better. Fletch is one of the top midfielders in the league, probably even the world. Amazing how he's progressed over the last couple of years.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Might be because he had pain killing injections to play. he wasnt 100% thats for sure.

We know that. I'm not gonna argue with the fact that a fully fit Torres is one of the best players on the planet. But yesterday he was average. Benayoun on the other hand was a serious threat everytime he got on the ball. Underated player IMO.

He's a beastly passer, and a great presence in the middle. But for me, he's just short of the world class bracket, because I just think think he's not that good when receiving a pass from the defenders, with his back to goal. That would be my main argument when comparing Xabi and Carrick. Xabi could receive the ball anywhere, and was good enough to turn, and find an instant pass.

A little over the top with Fletcher there. He's very good though, certainly one of the best midfielder in the league this season.
