Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think the big problem for Lucas is that atm he doesn't offer anything more then Masch. His current role is to be tidy and keep possesion but with the pair of them there it adds up to nothing. He did show some skill with the 360, run into the box but he didn't do that for the rest of the game.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I dont think Rafa's tactics allow him to be as expressive as he might want to. I'm sure he's capable of more than he's showing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Draw treated you pretty nicely imo. Plus United are in Moscow midweek before playing you in the league...eep!

Some of the matchups are going to have me skipping the English games...some big heavyweights against each other in the groups for once.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Tbh I would rather have more good teams then weak ones. We all know Liverpool perform better the better the opposition, and very little traveling aswell.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Exactly the travelling has fucked us over with the trip to Moscow on the Wednesday and Anfield on the Sunday.

Re: Liverpool Thread

LIVERPOOL physio Dave Galley has been barred from working with the England squad in next week’s double-header with Slovenia and Croatia – because Manchester United fear a rival gaining ‘inside’ information on their players’ injuries.

Galley, a highly regarded physiotherapist, has worked with England’s under-21 squad for more than a decade and was promoted to assist senior squad physio Gary Lewin in the friendly draw with Holland earlier this month.

But United chief executive David Gill has since raised concerns over the inclusion of a non-independent member of the national team's medical staff.

Referring to a policy introduced by the FA last year designed to ensure that only independent medical staff are appointed to work with the national team, Gill raised concerns about a rival club’s physiotherapist having access to valuable information about the fitness of players from other teams.

The FA, however, have denied that they were pressurised by United.

“Dave has reverted back to the Under-21s after one game.” said an FA spokesman. “There should be no questions against his professionalism, We must be clear that there is an agreed board policy that has nothing to do with Manchester United that the medical staff should be independent.

“Franco Baldini (Capello’s general manager) and Rafael Benítez discussed the matter yesterday and it was explained we wanted to see Dave working with the team in the friendly this month.

“We refute any suggestion that we have been pressurised by Manchester United.”

The FA has previously taken steps to ensure that such situations cannot arise, with the appointment of Gary Lewin as England’s full-time physiotherapist in August last year, followed by Ian Beasley becoming full-time doctor four months later.

Both had previously worked for the FA on a part-time basis with their regular employment being provided by Arsenal.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dont see why it's a big deal, I think it's fair enough, it's best to have neutral full time physios and coaches.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah, who cares about the physio's! Must be a very slow newsday. Although saying that I wouldnt want Manu's physio's working with our lads. You never know what those b@$tards will get up to! :D

Actually, I can see it now; "Owen breaks down on England duty, physio's get the blame!".

Re: Liverpool Thread

Um, that's one of the most ridiculous stories I've ever seen. The England physio is an Arsenal employee, has been for years - and they've been more of a 'threat' to United than Pool in that time (no offense).

Once again, whoever rights this sh*t deserves to be shot once in each typing hand and charged for the bullets.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well Lewin is England only now, they made the decision to go like this a while ago so I think the decision to remove the Liverpool physio is fair.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Never said I didnt agree.

Its the correct decision, but if you want neutrality in the England setup and the FA, then it has to be at every level, no?

The few games I've watched MU played, Valencia is proving to be a great crosser. I'll be very wary with him when u lot comes to Anfield. I think he's passed Nani as your primary winger really :)

The thing is, he has absolutely no left foot.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah also Valencia is quite limited in that all he really does is beat his man and then cross, Nani is comfortable on either wing and he likes cutting inside and slipping through balls in or having a shot with either foot.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Valencia though is better defensively though and puts a shift in similar to Park.

I guess nobody in the premiership picked up that one so far, he's getting plenty of right foot crosses in and that's one major threat. I'd rather have somebody like that in the liverpool line-up. Kuyt isn't doing that and neither has Riera this season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I never want to hear another Liverpool fan say anything about us getting late goals and dodgy ref decisions to change the game.
