Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

to be fair we've had plenty of penalty decisions not go our way this season, they even themselves out. it was the turning point of the game but its not like it came from nowhere, we were knocking on the door there for awhile before the penalty. i think you guys have had some pretty debatable decisions go your way, like i said they usually even themselves out.

its too bad we're talking about referees and decisions when we should be talking about the players. rooney took that game over, two goals himself and basically 3 assists. its just too bad he did it from the left wing, i hope SAF doesnt keep playing him there.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I love how you mancs have a completely different view on it to the rest of the world, you're so paranoid and self-gratifying it's hilarious.

plus, it was never a penalty, it was a bad decision and only mancs (and a couple of evertonians i might add) think otherwise. Only a total cunt would think that Folan didn't deserve to get sent off. We had 1 bad decision go in our way yesterday and in my opinion Mascherano should now be given a yellow card once the referee watches the replays.

I've seen the Folan thing again and I admit I was wrong there, it was quite bad. Saying that I still don't see how the ref could give the freekick on the edge of the area against Carragher for the same thing Skrtel did and not give that!

And I wouldn't say I was paranoid mate. Everyone knows that most people are heavily influenced by what the papers and TV say about football, so having a panel full of ex-Liverpool players and the Tottenham assistant manager on the live broadcast and then Alan Hansen on MOTD is hardly providing a neutral, impartial viewpoint.

Then you've got Alan Green (a massive Liverpool fan who had a big fall out with Sir Alex years ago which he is still bitter about) presenting probably the most listened to show on 5Live with everything he says so anti-United it's untrue. Also consider that as Fergie won't even talk to the BBC, they've got no reason to write anything of a positive opinion on their website unless they want to. When we beat Stoke away, all that was focused on was Ronaldo 'lashing out' at the lad who got sent off. It was emphasised and analysed and MOTD didn't even show the perfectly legitimate goal Tevez scored that was ruled out for offside.

Then Sky Sports have got Jamie Redknapp who just praises his dad and his mates all the time regardless of whether it's merited or not and you can start to see what I'm saying?

That's without talking about the papers who just look for scandal and controversy at every chance and aren't even interested in writing about the fucking game itself.

Like it or not, man on the street listen to these people and if they go on about something long enough, he will start to beleive it.

PhatJ makes a good when he says it's a shame we're talking about the ref and not the players, that says it all. The biggest (almost only) talking point of the whole weekend is that one decision which isn't even half as bad as some other ones made lately and it's just been magnified beyond belief.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Don't blame the ref. Blame Spurs and good old 'Arry for capitulating like that. If it wasn't for the title race, I'd fucking laugh at them.

Well said!

And theres still alot to play for...

If LFC keep winning their games it will keep the pressure on...

we are 10 points from The Title...

but maybe, just maybe boro, wigan, siddy and hull will do you's a favour...

Still, at least if lfc come 2nd it will = the clubs best season in The Prem, again proving what an unqualified success rafa is!

So, chins up, well done!

I do agree with you, it was definately a bad decision. But the fact that it's only highlighted when it goes in our favour is what's stupid here. These things happen all the time. And to be honest with you, I'd love it to happen again just to see the look on all your faces.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I hate the dodgy penno decisions whichever way it goes - ruins.the.bloody.game!!!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ive posted about this ahwile ago, I seriously do think they have an agenda to keep games/leagues/cups/ect suspect. Not that they set up problems, well besides appointment of referee's, but that they want to keep all these problems as it generates more controversey, more media attention and more money. Football is moving past sport and more and more into entertainment. They always use the grassroots example to keep technology out of the game but has that stopped tennis or rugby from being less popular or equally popular before they used eagleEye. Football won't change at amature level because we won't be able to call on a videoref to see if a ball crosses the fictional line between the jumpers or not!

Everything is geared towards contraversey and media attention.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I totally agree the FA are trying to make things into news. It's depressing. So many of their decisions are business driven, not moral or whatever.

Though, if they had an agenda, I certainly don't think it would be to help United. Having a new team win it (and one with such a worldwide fan base) is definitely in their interest. I think most media outlets would LOVE liverpool to win this year, as would the FA. It's always been easy to see the FA siding with London sides over the past decade, so it'll be interesting when they have to deal with the power shifting complteely up north :)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Another game where Torres and Gerrard aren't able to play in the same team, ridiculous

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's alright you've got Kuyt upfront where he's a natural. (That is not sarcastic by the way)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Agger signing a new deal is great news, I hope he plays more next season as for me he is a quality defender

Re: Liverpool Thread

Eh? It was questionable and certainly not clear cut. What if benayoun had a scored minutes later when that was called offside and clearly wasnt. Still, as soon as it went in i knew the mancs would be looking for how it could be a dodgy goal somehow. I take it the 2nd was dodgy as well?

Re: Liverpool Thread

the 2nd was dodgy because we never score from corners.

A shame Xabi's curler hit the bar.

Still work to be done, need at least another IMO, Newcastle still look dangerous when going direct to Viduka.

Re: Liverpool Thread

A good performance, should have scored more though to boost our GD.

All we can do is keep winning, the experience of being in it until maybe the last day is priceless.

Hopefully Mash and Alonso are okay, Alonso stretched off after that diry shitehouse Barton went in on his standing leg. Mash was in quite a bit of pain on the touchline

Re: Liverpool Thread

Should have been more goals passed them, they didn't even test Reina once.

Been a cracking season and if we don't get the title (and I can't see Utd slipping up now) then we can be proud of what we've done in the league and we're clearly getting better.

Re: Liverpool Thread

indeed, and I also sense a better transfer window now that parry has gone and rafa has more control. And with Kenny possibly back?

the ownership question will loom too.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm pretty sure we'll see changes in the boardroom during the summer. I think Hicks will stay (:BRICK:) but I think Gilette will sell to one of the Arabian groups looking at us.

But yep, hopefully Rafa will sort out our transfer mess and we wont pay silly prices for people, and actually stump up money for players who are worth it.

Bloody Parry has set us back years.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The first goal was marginally offside but even the replay with the whiteline showed beni was offside with one of his feet, so hardly a terrible decision when at speed. Newcaslte are rubbish, surely going down! The dutch commentators siad Liverpool felt sorry for them and ddint even bother in teh 2nd half, which isnt far from the truth. Ridiculous foul by Barton, talentless, dirty bastard. (compared to Alonso) Hopefully he'll be ok.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Barton is a horrible little cunt who will never learn. The horrible bastard shouldn't be allowed to play football.

Anyway, Alonso's only bruised apparently, which is very good news.

Happy with the result and the performance, even though it should have been a lot more than 3-0. Still, was anyone else embarrassed by how quiet our fans were? It was ridiculous, for large portions of the game there was absolutely no noise apart from the fat cunts in the away end. Plus, no You'll Never Walk Alone at the end, terrible.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hope Alonso is alright, just saw the Barton attack - can he please make his loan move to prison permanent?

Was/is it just me or does Lucas look similar to Crouch at times?

Re: Liverpool Thread

always thought he looked like Bellamy when he got his hair cut short...

nice for him to get a goal in front of the kop, very well taken. Think hes got too much stick, I'd give him another season at least.
