I still dont think it was that bad a decision even if Gomes did get the slightlest of touches. It's still hard to tell even if you watch the replay 450 times like Setanta showed it (so the impartial panel of Burley, McManaman and co could prove United are cheating scum bags), so if Webb had to make it first time then give him some room for error.
Why is nobody saying Liverpool might not have beat Hull if Mascherano hadnt DIVED for the freekick for the first goal? Because it wasn't on TV, it wasn't United and it was against Phil Brown who frankly noone gives a shit about. On MOTD they even went as far as saying it might have been a foul when it clearly wasn't. Folan's sending off was arguable too, he was fouled by Skrtel though he shouldn't have followed through.
Now we've got Redknapp publically critising Webb for the penalty decision, basically to deflect the attention away from the fact his lack of managerial skills meant his team crumbled under pressure and threw away a 2 goal lead by sitting back and waiting for it to happen. How is that supposed to help anyone?
The fact is now Mourinho's Chelsea have gone, we're back to the most hated team in the league and nobody wants us to win it again. This big hoohaa by almost every media outlet is ridiculous, every team gets dodgy decisions for and against them over the season, GET OVER IT. We were going to score at any minute anyway, don't try and kid yourselves into thinking it all hinged on the one debatable decision. You had 2 or 3 in your favour yourselves yesterday.
And I agree with you Peter, its far from over. We've got a tough run in against team's that could easily take points off us, I'm just glad to see us scoring again.
