Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's been a very convincing display, lots of chances created, good passing, good movement and confident play.

Maybe we are playing better now that there's less pressure on us?

Re: Liverpool Thread

you sure, i see no difference from the last lot of games

just that we scored and took the pressure off

and sunderland are shit

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think we looked a lot more threatening with regards to creating chances, whilst also looking far more confident with our passing than we have done for a long time. Players were trying tricks and 1-touch passing which I haven't seen us do for ages.

Re: Liverpool Thread

who cares its a token result, if newcastle conceded 5 goals to an average lpool team, tonight could be a record score with the way we're playing! joke its not on sky though and yet ur match was!!

Re: Liverpool Thread

 Ignore list is being used again then ...

YG, Gerrard did play, he set up the first goal for N'gog, but he didn't really pull the strings. Benayoun had that pleasure and played a blinder.

Haven't heard if Torres is fit for Madrid but I imagine he will be.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Benayoun has either scored or created a goal in the last 6-7 matches he's started. That's brilliant.

Love him, hope he continues.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Benayoun played a blinder - haha that sentence should never be used! Benayoun is w@nk!

I rarely post on these forums anymore, I just like to browse and there are some excellent points made by both Liverpool and Man United followers but I have to say, you are the most blinkered fan of any team I have seen post in these threads.

Your unconstructive, poorly observed view of football is embarrassing.

I have yet to read an educated comment from you.

Do us and everyone else a favour and refrain from adding your limited opinions to these forums.

:OOOH:

You don't need to be one sided all the time even I have to admit Benayoun played well against Madrid... It shames me to be associated with you as an Utd fan, yes we support the same teams however you have to give credit and respect to Liverpool fans as they sometimes compliment on Utd's performances and they admit it would even if we are bitter rivals... Relax for once!

Re: Liverpool Thread

what do lfc supporters think of rafa's comments this week?

blaming torres injury probs on his inability to mount a decent challenge (again)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Already gave my views and having one top striker isn't enough to sustain a challenge.

United have Rooney, Berbatov, Tevez and Ronaldo who plays there.

Chelsea have Drogba and Anelka.

We have Torres.

Saw the interview. Journalist asked if Torres injury had made a difference? He said, perhaps, it would have been different if Torres was fit.

Hardly blaming?

Sensationalist media

Re: Liverpool Thread

Lol even Carra had enough playing the attacking right back for LFC, must be such an awful position seeing Kuyt's *ss all the time :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

I dont think they fell out, didnt he just say he didnt wanna play RB cos he had tight calf muscles or something?

Re: Liverpool Thread

you lot did well yesterday, it would have been more interesting if Jones had scored his 1 on 1 tho, liverpool wasnt really under any presure after that apart from the odd half chance, i thought mascha did well in his position, garrard at half fitness is still a massive danger to any defence

Re: Liverpool Thread

went the match last night and it was shocking. The kop looked like a cardboard cut out, it was soulless. Sunderland fans are funny. 3 mins to go. "3-2, were gonna win 3-2".

Shit match, Ngog is terrible despite the goal he looks dodgy as fuck, need to learn to control a ball.

Alonso was off the pace and everyone one of them besides carra and benayoun didnt even look arsed.

Whats happend?

I knew this day would come.. Well now that it did, I urge you to stay out of this thread if you keep this stirring up mentality. Notice you've been added to a few people's ignore list which should mean something. You can chat all you want in here but in a different, constructive manner.

You've been warned :PIRATE:

Be good and you can stay.

Re: Liverpool Thread

After being ranked No.1 in uefa rankings over past 5 years Rafa makes case for being a good coach..

"The messages on this are not the best," said Benítez. "It is not easy to be in the position we are in Europe and that means a lot of credit for the players, a lot of very good memories for the club and a lot of money for the club. Thanks to this we can improve the squad and the club a little bit. I have my own ideas but maybe people don't realise how well we have done in the Champions League."

I do agree that for a club with limited resources he has done very well...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just read this one as well, another article which is interesting reading and will surely provoke discussion ...

http://tomkins-blogs.typepad.com/paul_tomkins_blog/2009/02/parallel-universe-same-outcome.html

lol...

the scousers are going all out trying to prove a hypothetical point....

rafa inherited a better team than SAF (and with less problems) and completley changed the infra-structure of the club....

the writer also assumes "scouse alec would have followed the same transfer policy as rafa...

i disagree, SAF builds teams from the ground up...

I don't think it's wise to compare the first 5 years of Alex to Rafa's because the situation and times between very different. In Manchester, I thought Alex was given the time (important) and trust (and money) to do all the restructuring it was needed. And considering what was giving to Rafa, I thought he done well. I'm not saying great because no titles yet.

Well if Rafa or Scouse Alex were to built LFC from the ground up, it would be left to fight for 9th or 10th due to its limited finances.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Surely Rafa's success in the CL also comes down to the fact that he wasn't competing for the league at the time? It was the same when Milan won in 06/07 - they were able to focus completely on the CL knockout games, at the expense of the league, because they didn't care about the league.

His European record has never been questioned. Liverpool fans should (imo) shut up and let him get on with it. I personally don't think he's the right guy to win the league, or to play nice football, but he'll always be great at knockout european football. If that's all Pool want, then fine, he's great, roll with it.

As for the linked 'hypothetical' that's such apologist, revisionary crap. It's supposed to say oh boohoo Rafa had insurmountable odds and never had a hope in hell of winning the league, so stop denigrating him for not winning it. If he was so hamstrung he had no chance, why even bother?

The evolution of the Liverpool excuse seems to go:
1. We've got the team, just need that one final cog (insert Robbie Keane) - now we're ready to take the league.
2. We're not playing well, but sneaking results while you're not playing to your full potential is the sign of champions.
3. We're still not playing well, but we've just had some bad refereeing decisions which have hurt us, otherwise we'd be winning.
4. We're still not playing well, and have had some very serious injuries to our most important players, otherwise we'd be winning.
5. We're still not playing well, and you know what our squad just isn't good enough, clearly Rafa hasn't spent nearly as much money as those jammy mancs, so he can't be expected to compete.
6. We're still not playing well, and someone just proved to me that Rafa has actually spent a f*ck load of cash, but he can't be judged yet, because Fergie had 7 years in charge without winning a cup, and Rafa hasn't had that time yet.
7. We're still not playing well, and we're actually dropping down the table, but what can you expect poor Rafa to do? He wasn't given the exact same situation as Alex Fergusun 3 decades ago, and given all things aren't the same, we can't possibly be doing better than we are.

I'm waiting for the next step, in 2 years time (still no league titles)

8. You can't judge Rafa just on the time he's been here, and the money he's spent, and the way he plays football, and his youth policy - you've got to appreciate where he's taking us as a club. It's a new frontier from the dark days of Houllier.

(sorry, just so bored of these arguments)

Re: Liverpool Thread

you'll go out tonight, oh well there's always next season, i dont think liverpool can cut it in europe any more, but this man united team will dominate europe i reckon for the next 10 years!
