Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

For his goals, he makes many more mistakes and misses so many more open goals though. Maybe he's trying to hard but he needs to concentrate more as he's missing chances that any decent striker should be scoring, confidence high or low.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Funny to see that both sets of fans are happy with that draw. I think the facts show that we've had the better results against them but they seem really pleased, my housemate in particular was going around like he'd just won the cup already or something

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm hearing a lot of speculation that we're on the verge of signing Glen Johnson. Can't say I'm over the moon about this if it's true. He's not even one of the best full-backs in the league, nevermind in Europe. Also think he has a tendancy to make Traore-esque mistakes.

Really got my fingers crossed this isn't true :(

On the other hand, I would be VERY happy if we signed Aaron Lennon :)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Johnson has come on leaps and bounds this season. It would be a decent singing but I don't think we'll get him. He'd be far and away a better attacking outet than Arbeloa and Carragher. Darby isn't ready yet for a season where we are expected to challenge on all fronts.

Lennon just doesnt seem to have end product a bit like Pennant, probably a better attitude though.

Everton are bound to be pleased with the draw, this is the one game that could make their season. Their DVD production team will be having sleepless nights. They are in good form at the moment, they are on one of their trademark runs where they keep winning 1-0.

Lets just hope the boys crush their dreams ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Would be a pretty mediocre signing, Good going forward but defensively he gets caught out a lot.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Where did that come from? Rafa said previously he won't sell any of his 4 starting CBs, and especially not Agger, since he's now playing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Can't see Agger leaving us anytime soon, especially for only £7m. Agger and Skrtel are our main CB's now and it'd be suicide to let either leave.

AC Milan are preparing a £8m offer for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger. (Gazzetta dello Sport - 0813 GMT)

Only a bid, which I'd expect to be flat-out refused.

Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson, who has been linked with Tottenham, is set to sign a new contract with the south-coast side. (Portsmouth News - 1156 GMT)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Thank f#$% for that!

Don't see why we would sell Agger, he was bought for 6+mil so its not like there is a decent profit and with Hyppia on his last legs he will get loads of gametime the coming years.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm ashamed to say I didn't get that until I read Bobby's post. And even then I got it after reading it twice :(

Mate, I've been bloody impressed with Johnson this season and last. Would be made up if we signed him. He's been the best right back apart from Bosingwa this season IMO.

Re: Liverpool Thread

To be fair, I haven't seen him this season so he might be playing wonders now. Judging from my past experiences of seeing him play, I'd rather have Arbeloa than Johnson.

Happy to be proved wrong and we sign Johnson, who becomes England's first choice right-back though :)

Speaking of England right-backs, I'd love us to sign Micah Richards.

you should start watching more football mate.

Richards has been fuckin awful this season, he's done a Babel and completely flatlined after a good season, whereas Johnson has looked quality until his injury, his goal last month was an absolute belter aswell!

Re: Liverpool Thread

I don't follow the Premiership as much as I used to, too much diving, playacting, lazy sods and overrated players.

I just watch Liverpool and don't see any of those horrible things from our players ;)

(waiting for Vanizzle or someone to come in and say something)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah seriously mate you should at least start watching MOTD! Richards has been absolutely terrible this season, today the MEN gave him 4 out of 10 for his performance on Saturday (worse than the rest of the defenders) and they always overdo it for City and make out they're great so that shows how bad their wonderkid must be doing!

Johnson on the other hand has been making progress steadily for the last year or so and I think he'd be a good signing. He'd add a bit more Englishness to your team, although if you signed him and as you said Agger and Skrtel are your first choice centrebacks, were would that leave Carragher?

Re: Liverpool Thread

That was a question being asked on TalkSport on the way home from work, where's Carragher's future at us now? If we're talking about signing Johnson, and clearly Agger and Skrtel are our future CB's, is Carragher going to be a bit-part player like Hyppia? Is he too good to take that role now?

Interesting dilemma. I don't like Carra at RB, he'll get the ball on thr right of midfield, stop the ball (and himself) dead and turn to play a slow, patient ball. Whereas you'd ideally want someone bombing on and whipping a cross in.

Like Johnson I guess?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Milan have not been the only side looking at Pennant, with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Juventus all linked - but now he looks as if he could be bound for a dream move to the San Siro.

Are we missing something here?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Sounds like bull. Why would we need a winger when we havent used on for the last 5 years??? We also have Gourcuff returning.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Surely it's just one big wind-up?! Although he is probably better equiped for Italian/spanish football then english as its far more physical. But even so.....
