You lot fully deserve your lead. No idea where United went in the 2nd half, but someone should tell them there's a football match. We've gifted the two goals, but you've looked a lot more up for it.

Sorry, bit emotional.

Tears of joy, its a shame its come to this because we've havent been that bad against United, just lose concentration and composure at vital times.

The first time we've played with passion and bottle against united for yonks, and I think we would have scored a lot more with Torres in the team from the start.

Reira was bloody brilliant, the ball just sticks to him. Linked up well with Fabio.

Good win today, congrats. I wasn't particularly impressed, we gifted the two goals, but hey a wins a win.

Still think its a stretch to take Chelsea to the title, you nicked it at home. It'll be very different once we've actually sorted a formation and got Ronaldo back. See you at OT!

yeahhh !!!!!!!!! a fantastic match from liverpool, kuyt although he missed two goles he played very well, xavi alonso also was in a good form and MASCHERANO IS THE MAN

Really? I thought both teams were pretty poor. You didn't create a real chance in the first half at all, and barely any in the second. And we were absoltuely sh*t. I'm not sure when VDS didn't get the memo about long balls not working, but my lord, I wanted to throw the remote. I counted 18 punts up to noone in the 2nd alone.

Liverpool did enough to win, but there was nothign sterling about it.

Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov didn't touch the ball once in the 2nd half. That was sterling.

And what a way for Mascherano to revenge the red card.

the impressive thing was the passion even if we haven't clicked yet and several of our players are still coasting in 2-3rd gear.

But we were first to everything, winning balls in the air etc, and that was without Gerrard and Torres. We've missed that against you lot.

Go on large it while you can, we'll see where you end up when they hand out all the medals in May. Bolton beat us last season that puts it in perspective for me.

The type of fan we despise. Ridicule when we lose to you by jammy goals, and then receive nothing when we well and truley outfight you all over the pitch and get what we deserve for once.

No one can disagree pool played better. I think us United fans are just upset at how piss poor our game plan and approach were. And for me personally, recognising that Scholes can't do it at the top level anymore. Sad day indeed. You can negate him completely with fitter midfielders. Sad, but players like Mach, Hargo and Mikel might be the future - not the most skillful but great athletes that can deny space and box to box it for 90 mins. Even Zidane would have struggled out there.

Erm 40k stadium, Millions of fans. Are you suggesting we should just have 40,000 fans? Fans are collective wherever they come from, anfield regular or not. That is the Liverpool way.

Get a grip and go and suck on a big fat lemon, maybe the one your manager is still trying to swallow.

Great performance. Delighted with the result. Thoroughly deserved. Surprised how quiet we kept Utd after the half hour.

Very promising debut for Riera. He showed good touches and he wasn't afraid to take the attack to the Utd defenders.

Solid performance from the men in the middle. Thought the full-backs had a great game too.

Riera does have balls. Trying flicks and back heels against United on his debut.
