Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Okay, I don't know how this mathc will end (2-1) but can we please use this match as an example to show that Howard Webb does NOT favour Untied? I mean, it's rugby in the box time and time again from Skrtel and Carragher...and nadda

Re: Liverpool Thread

Does NOT favour United? ONLY for United does committing a foul as the last man mean you get a yellow card, other teams get a red.

Doesn't favour United my arse. And then O'Shea gets the assist for the third goal.

Just to clarify, by the way, but United were by FAR the better team today. Doesn't excuse the awful "decision" by Webb though.

Five games played, five points. Not even mid-table form. Very worrying.

Re: Liverpool Thread

As DagsTJ said, an awful performance from us again. United was by far the only team in the pitch. We only had 10 minutes in which we scored from a penalty and a free kick. But we never created chances, we never moved the ball, Torres was completely isolated and if it wasnt for the mistakes of Evans and Oshea (no way Torres was reaching that ball) it would have been a lot more embarrasing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Nothing like it at all, Torres was getting onto that ball and was heading towards goal, Owen wasn't fast enough to get to it and wasn't heading towards goal either.

So no.

Re: Liverpool Thread

fuck off woy, well done to all those who wanted rafa gone, you got what you wanted, the shackles are well and truly off...........

no complaints at the result just the performance, only even tried playing for 10 minutes rest of the time was like watching fulham

Re: Liverpool Thread

I don't think Webb favours one team or the other. He's just utter shite and always gives the benefit to the home team.

Utd deserved the win, easily. Liverpool were poor again, offered nothing and were lucky to even have a chance at a draw.

Re: Liverpool Thread

That's what I was thinking, he had a good game but play it the other way round. Also once he went off Liverpool lost control and started to fall apart.

As for the league, we have played the top3 out of 4 in 5 games so it can only get better. It was always going to be very tough, and with a bit more fortune we would be 2 points better off (Arsenal match) which would have been a decent return.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Hodgson did that to have Meireless close down Scholes, which worked reasonably well. But then he had to switch to 2 up front and moved him to the right and Scholes had a bit more time on the ball.

Yeah, City away, United away and (honestly) Birmingham away are bloody tricky ties.

Re: Liverpool Thread

well not bad match today..not bad considering we had 3 new players in lineup for such important match..and i liked all except Maxi..he is poor imo..Babel would been better for his spot today...anyway who would have thougt Berbaflop will start to score :P good for United..

also i think we show good spirit..coming up from 2 goals down.. just they were the better side, with better goalscorer...

Torres seems other player but he has quality any day..

I think it is time for Roy to try play Carra less games..and involve Agger sooner in game or from start with either Kyrgiakos or Skrtel...

Unless you get rid of Hicks and Gillett things will not improve much.

Mascherano went and the likes of Torres is clearly unhappy with broken promises and may well leave.

Rafa went for much the same reasons. And under the terms of a possible refinancing deal the two vampires may well decide to sell off the likes of Reina as well.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think today was a huge improvement on previous games.

Really?

You defended pretty well aside from the goals, but apart from a 15 minute spell where you got your goals (both set pieces) you barely had a shot on target. It was toothless and Torres had absolutely no support.

Maxi probably does not want to be there. Espanyol in January. Plus when a side cannot seem to pass and move forward he is limited in options as Jumbo states.

He is still a very good player.

Agreed this was the way i saw it, TBH the scoreline flatters us like it did last thursday. FFS Hodgson start managing you looked far too comfortable in the Audi seat today.

Exactly. We didn't really "come back" like we actually created some good chances, we scored from a penalty and a free kick but didn't actually do anything else.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Great, so we are going to get used to that under this coach our best defender is going to be in the bench or limited to the LB.

We had no cutting edge, but we managed to pass the ball and keep possession. That is already a huge improvement on the last 2 games, where we were hoofing it aimlessly throughout the whole match.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not sure about that Abhi, Manu let us have possesion (as it was all with the back four and Poulsen) as we weren't doing anything with it anyway. Any time we got into their half play broke up and they countered. Birmingham on the other hand were pressuring far higher up the pitch which meant we couldn't keep possesion. Did we actually have a shot on goal?! Can't remember anything but the freekick and penalty. Says enough imo.

Re: Liverpool Thread

the huge difference between the two teams on Sunday was that when we had the ball United were pressing us and closing us down, when United had the ball we backed off and let them walk it through us. No fight, no commitment, no clue.

Agger shouldn't have said what he's said in public, but at least it's brought some insight as to why we're playing so badly at the minute. Hodgson wants the defence to be totally disconnected from the rest of the team. It's no wonder Johnson's been playing badly - that's not his game either. We need Agger in the team imo, if we really were a team of Carraghers i'd seriously lose all hope of us ever winning a match.

I totally agre with you.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Johnson was getting forward against us (he spent more time in our half than yours), he just couldn't pick a team mate out with his crosses, constantly hitting the first man. He wasn't just hoofing it forward from the back. I think you should play him wide right, with Carragher at rightback with Agger in the middle. Agger's better than Skrtel and Carragher.

Anyway, he's said the Danish media twisted his words, though that's probably only half true.
