Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

No way Jovanovic or Kuyt are playing ahead of Aquilani mate. Joe Cole is clearly going to be a winger.

I like your certaintly but your not the manager, you cant really confirm what is definately going to and not going to happen.

Joey COle wants to play central, I think thats why he signed also he'll be 32 on a 90 grand a week contract when it ends!

Well, you are right. But Im almost sure that a mangager like Roy Hodgson is not going to be stupid and leave a player with the quality of Aquilani in the bench.

He'll build a cohesive unit, whether he leaves your bumboy on the bench or not, and that's all that matters - or should matter, for 'Pool fans.

Re: Liverpool Thread

That's if J.Cole plays at all. My ITK sources tell me he's still carrying an injury. While also mentioning that he himself feels is no longer the same player and capable of completing a full season fully fit. However the contract he's agreed says he demands to be played when fit.

I agree i think there will be more rotation but with better quality players, rather than Riera, Babel & N'Gog (i think he has potential though) comming on we'll have Aquaman, Maxi, Jovanovic and Joe ...all depending on who starts. I think Kuyt will start though

I never rated Kuyt. I have said thousands of time that I like players with quality, so it ´s obvius I wouldn ´t rate a player like Kuyt. I think that he has Joe Cole, Maxi Rodriguez, Jovanovic and Gerrard ahead of him for the right wing.

Totally agree and considering Roy Hodgson likes to play with a deep lying playmaker. Guess who is the only player with the quality to be a deep lying playmaker in our team.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Kuyt is one of Liverpool's best players you div.
Based on what ? You really think he is better than Joe Cole, Jovanovic, Maxi Rodriguez or Gerrard (considering Kuyt has been a right wing for the last seasons)

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's not as talented as Joe Cole but he's more consistent and has done more than him. Cole's made 28 league starts in 2 seasons and 6 England appearances (5 as a sub) in the same time, Kuyt's been near on ever present for you guys and World Cup finalists Holland who won everygame in qualifying and through the tournament up to the final.

I haven't seen a lot of Jovanovic but from what I've seen I rate Kuyt higher, he's definitely better than Maxi, that guys living off his WC2006 performances, he's good but not THAT good and him and Gerrard are different players with their own uses. I didn't see he was your best player, just one of them.

Re: Liverpool Thread

yeah and when i said I like Kuyt to be on the wing for the Arsenal I was laughed at :SMUG:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Considering the attacking options you've already got, we were right to laugh at you.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I dont know why people want to see Kuyt on the wing...
He does not have much pace, or dribbling or crossing...
True he is hard-working and is a great team player...

He should play up front, because he is a striker.
He scored a lot of goals at Feyenoord as a striker.
He was most effective (goals and assists) as a striker.

We dont want any more square pegs in round holes...

Hopefully Hodgson will put players in their natural positions...
and use them to their maximum ability...
So if Hodgson goes with 4-4-2....Kuyt will have a chance...
but at the end of the day, every player should earn their place
...no one has some divine right to be in the team....
that includes Cole, Kuyt.....

I feel Jovanovic and Aquilani will be pretty good this year.

I dont think is fair to say that Kuyt has donde more than Joe Cole just because he has more apps. The reason for that is that he is never injured and that our last coach had a Kuyt + 10 formation.
I agree that Maxi is not THAT good, but he is good and, personally, I think he is good enough to be better than Kuyt.
About Gerrard, you are right, they are different players. I just named him because he can play on the right wing.

Sorry but now i dont get it, were you watching Kuyt matches..on wing...in our shirt or Netherlands...

His profesionalism, true hard work, great goals, final in Athens, City goal... nothing?

His passion, dedication, true love for the club...?

sorry but i think Kuyt is our best player in terms of how a Liverpool way player should look...in way on field dedication, out field, in way that he has no scandals, he is true rolemodel, i know we have better technicaly players, but Kuyt is so underrated by many.. like you.

Kuyt is anyday next season the starter, mark my words ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

I agree with Kuyt as a true role model....his professionalism is fantastic
He gives his all to Liverpool....we are lucky to have him...
The managers love his attitude..

BUT play him up front with Torres....not on the wing where his skill is wasted.

We want him to be effective....scoring goals and giving assists
in addition to his team-work....because Kuyt is not a winger nor
a midfielder.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Masch is on his way....
sooner the better....so we can focus on getting replacements and additions
to the squad

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jul/21/roy-hodgson-joe-cole-liverpool

Riera also looks set to leave....he was not playing today.

i still belive he is staying... no words from him about leaving ...no quotes "i want to go" or "i am going", no words from Hodgson that he dont like to have him staying in LFC either...

still belive:

definetly, and i think that is what we see next season..with Cole on RW and Jova on LW... Gerrard and Aquilani or Mascherano/new DM? in center midfield..

I never doubted his profesionalism and his hard work. He also has an impressive heading and mentally he is very strong.
But we have other players that also are profesionals, are hard workers, never had scandals, plus they have technique and quality, can see a pass, know how to dribble and have better finishing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

i respect your option, but from the ones you mention..realy only Maxi and little bit Gerrard can be predicted to play as right wingers..ok also Cole..

but in his own words, seems he want an AM role..while Jovanovic i only seen from left wing and striker.. Gerrard as i said.. i dont feel he prefeurs an wing role.. and as said, his best position is SS or AM..

if you point on Aquilani, wich is no dobut your favourite player, i dont have nothing against him..i like his style..even if he did not played many games for us..but he neither is wing.. and with Roy system there will be two wingers and probably two strikers...so that leaves us with two midfielders playing...

will it be Gerrard alongside Aquilani, or Gerrard + other Defensive midfielder...or Mascherano if he stays...we will see...

only i think, even without Kuyt on wings, it will be problem for Aquilani, due to Joe Cole statement to play as AM or even play as starter...becouse he is great on attacking - so is Gerrard and Cole..but not so great as defensive player..

His chances are even smaller if Mascherano stayes or we buy a new DM...but the season is long and we will rotate some players...

anyway i am happy Aquilani is in the club..just thinking with Cole statement, i think now it is unpredictable how the lineup will look like..

Considering Eduardo Macia is who is calling all the shots I cant see Aquilani leaving. Macia was the one who convinced Rafa to bring him. He also said himself he wanted to stay, and with the wages he is on, he aint gonna be on the bench.
I know Joe Cole wants a central role, but I cant see Roy Hodgson playing a Dinamo formation. For me, we are going to see a very similar formation to how he played in Fulham.

Re: Liverpool Thread

i dont say that Aquilani will leave..but i think there is more chance he will now with new manager and new style of play..

other thing is that i wont be happy if he leaves...he has many to prove and he is great player no doubt...but also i have bad feeling he is in the club in wrong time :(

I doubt it.....last summer he made noise about joining Barca...and
that did not happen.

Now with Rafa gone....he says "I don't know" when asked if he will
follow him to Inter.

While his agent has said that Mascherano's dream is to play for Inter.

Re: Liverpool Thread

yes he said he dont know..but neither Gerrard said he stay, untill like yesterday..?

dont know if Mascherano would be as needed in Inter as he is here..but if he goes..hopefully we can sign a great replacement..or world class Left back..

Can you show me some evidence that Eduardo is calling all the shots?
Any news articles ?

Did Rafa come out and say that Eduardo convinced him to sign Aquilani ?

Did Roy come out and say that he will only sign players recommended
by Eduardo ?

Does Eduardo decide who will play and who will leave ?
If so please show me evidence.

Im not going to look all the articles just to prove Im right, because I dont care. But I perfectly remember that last year Aquilani said that Eduardo Macia and Rafa welcomed him to Liverpool and Rafa saying to the press that his scout team (who ´s chief is Eduardo Macia) has been looking a replacement for Xabi Alonso replacement since April.
Roy came out last Sunday and said that he didnt have nothing to do with transfers, that it was all managed by Christian Purlsow. And is a known fact that Purlsow is taking the decision alongside Eduardo Maciá. For example, Loic Remy is a player that Eduardo Maciá has been scouting and convinced Purlsow to offer 12.5 M E. A day after that, Roy Hodgson came out and said that he didnt know who Loic Remy was.
Plus, you should know that Macia has been working with Benitez since he was in Madrid. He convinced him to take Raul to Real Madrid.

Fair enough.....but how does that mean Eduardo decides who leaves
the club ?
Is'nt the job of the Scout to offer candidates for signing ?
Not deciding who will leave or get sold ?

Take the case of Degen....Hodgson clearly says he was involved.
No mention of Eduardo deciding anything there.
Insua, Riera, Yossi were all decided before Roy came here.

Anyway....I like Aquilani and hope he gets to play at Liverpool,
without injuries....he is quality....and will shine in midfield.

Re: Liverpool Thread

There's a rumour that Liverpool would buy Wolfsburg's DMF Josue.
That is a splendid player.
