Consider the source though mate, squarksport are developing a nasty reputation for making stuff up simply to generate listeners/callers. Also several times they've managed to manipulate the betting markets with their "news" which has led to loads of bets (such as Rafa "walking out" on Liverpool two years ago an hour before the match against Madrid).

It's Tony Evans himself with the comments though, regardless of the station. He's not a journo who comes out with shit for the sake of it either, he's pretty reliable in my experience.

This is what happens when we have chairmen with hidden agendas.
Whats the betting if torres goes palms will be greased and chelski will be laughing all the way to the bank(i reckon thats why chelsea tested the water with a pisstake bid of £25 million if thats true?).

About Hodgson i really dont know what to think,i will be behind him but with caution.
He's probably been brought in because of his ability to run on a budget because i may be wrong but i dont think al fayed at fulham as been splashing the cash of late.
Also what concerns me is if my memory serves me is when Hodgson was blackburn manager he didnt do too well,so are we investing in a manager who got lucky on a cup run with fulham? (TBF though it still deserves credit)
I just hope i am wrong.

Stevie can go with my blessing because he's been a cracking servant to the club,and you cant really blame him, he must feel like he's flogging a dead horse at our place nowadays,and he's only got a few more seasons left.Once again i hope i am wrong.

Hodgson

Took relegation fodder Halmstad to the Swedish title twice followed by 5 league titles with Malmo.

Took Switzerland to the 1994 World Cup (their first since 1966) losing only one game in qualifying in a group that included Italy and Portugal.

Took Switzerland to Euro96, top of their qualifying group, then left to manager Inter before the tournament.

Built a poor Inter side back into European and title contenders.

Took over a Blackburn side who just survived relegation and toom them to 6th and the UEFA Cup. 2nd season was the poor one that most people seem to remember him by (13th position).

Won the league with Copenhagen in his first and only season with them (they had finished 7th and 8th in the preceding seasons).

Few other jobs where not much happened.

Arrives at Fulham, they're doing crap, poor start they are looking like relgation certainties, then 12 points in the last 5 games and they survive. 2nd season, Fulham finish 7th with some fantastic budget signings earning a Europa League place. 3rd season, epic Europa League run losing 2-1 in the final to Atletico knocking Juventus, Shakhtar and Wolfsburg out on the way. Not so good in the league but stable and some great wins over Manchester United and Liverpool.

Sounds like he's the right kinda guy for the job to be honest.

I totally agree.... he is a very good appointment.
People harp on about Blackburn....but don't see that it was his first
job in England...and actually did well in the 1st season.
It was also almost 15 years ago.....he himself admitted that he has
learnt from that experience...
Even Rafa had got relegated and sacked with some of his earlier jobs in La Liga.

I can't wait for the new season....because I am confident that Roy Hodgson
will bring out the best out of the entire team making them a better collective unit than the sum of their parts....
He will play people in their best positions ....
and give them confidence and motivation....he is a much better man manager
as evident of the glowing praise he got from the Fulham players....

I like Roy a lot and am looking forward to seeing Liverpool play under him. He's a very admirable man. A man of character, values and hard work.

He may not build a "spectacular" team but everyone on the pitch will give a 110% and Liverpool will be tough opposition for any team to face.

He might just be what the doctor ordered actually. For this particular situation anyway.

I love Roy. If we don't lost Torres, and Gerrard, I'm confident he'll take us to a top 4 finish.

Just think he's a very, very smart manager. He's like a Capello-lite, he'll look at what he has at his disposal, and play them the best way they can. He's not gonna play tippy-tappy attacking football, but at the same time, you know it's not gonna be the static, inventive dross sometimes served under Rafa. He'll get the players to know the movements, to realize where they should pass, when to the change positions. Fulham, despite being defensive, were always incisive when they had the ball IMO.

He's a genuinely nice guy as well, he'll be away from controversy, he'll just get down to playing football, and I think that's exactly what we need. I'm really excited to see us playing under him.

Been linked with Figueroa, Ledley and Joe Cole. All 3 would be very astute buys IMO.

Gerrard will stay in the end.
No other club will pay the price Liverpool (rightly so) will demand.
Gerrard is one of those players who expected much from the World Cup in terms of a possible transfer, but who played a bad World Cup (Ribery is an even better example...)

I really don't wanna have to hate Roy Hodgson, really don't.

Come the new season I will do though...especially considering I think he'll do a very good job.

It's interesting that the United fans are saying they think Hodgson is a good appointment but the Liverpool fans are mostly a bit dubious.

It's because you guys think you're a big club and you want a manager with a cabinet filled with trophies to be in charge, and you have the right to think so. While on the other hand, we think in your current situation Hodgson is a good appointment. That's what I think.

If you were in a better position and signed him I'd be thinking differently obviously.

Hodgson is a great choice. Will give some much needed stability, calmness and good media handling. I don't think you'll win the league next season (though I did predict you'd be right up there this past one, so shows what I know) but he'll be the right man to battle with the big boys.

Torres leaving would be an unmitigated disaster. Unless Roy seriously mixes up the system, you need a striker than can score on his own with little support, and really only Drogba and Torres can do that at the top level in our league.

Gerrard...meh.

Very good signing imo. Very good on the ball and skillful. Not sure how creative he can be though; you need it.

So Dirk Kuyt, 48 hours ahead of the biggest game of his life - probably never to be surpassed - can come out with such a statement but our captain - before, during and now after his 4 games for England, cannot.

I congratulate him on what he said if its solely based on passion, which sadly is gone missing from a lot of players these days, for the love of money.

I'm not sure if Maxi has the fitness and legs to be a regular for us on the right, I still think Kuyt will play there more often than not.
