Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

A late question and on top of that off-topic. How did Hazard perform in the second match?

Benfica is a tough draw but i see Liverpool winning the Euro League.

Good luck against Man Utd, i know this means a lot to the Liverpool fans.

Re: Liverpool Thread

There was a thread on RAWK about Howard Webb being the ref suggesting that you lot will definitely lose now but I don't think it's got that much bearing to be honest, that's defeatist paranoia at it's best.

He's made piss-poor decisions that have benefitted you lot in the past (against Spurs this season Defoe had a perfectly legit goal ruled out and Crouch should have had a penalty for example), and he's given poor ones against us (eg. Ronaldo red card against City a couple of years ago).

He does seem to be a bit of a 'homer' though and doesn't seem to like making big calls anymore, probably due to criticism for incorrect calls. The penalty he gave us against Tottenham during the run in last season was a genuinely hard call to make (you can watch the replay over and over again and you still cant be 100% sure what happened IMO) and it has now given him the reputation that he's biased towards us which is really unfair I think, he's just a crap ref.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gerd, he was quiet but had a couple of good moments, one where he weaved between 2 defenders and was brilliantly saved by Reina from point blank range, although he had the ball stuck under his feet a bit when he shot.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not that i was being serious anyway...

But i don't mean it in the way that he favours United, i just mean that he's not the type of ref to make big decisions in this kind of game, especially against the home team. He's become a massive shithouse and has made some ridiculous mistakes this season (Fabregas handball against us for example). I don't think either team would want him as the ref tbh

It probably means Vidic can get 90 minutes tomorrow

Re: Liverpool Thread

Glen Johnson should be at right-back. Not great defensively but then neither is Insua as left-back either

Re: Liverpool Thread

Indeed, but after the 90min mark when red cards have little to no bearing on the game he'll probably send him off, after having waved away quite a few dubious incidents earlier in the match :D.

Atleast the players know they should always go for the shot and not try to get a penalty.

Re: Liverpool Thread

What the fuck was Masch doing?! Stupid decision by him although it should've been a free kick anyway

Carriages needs to retire or leave to this other club he wants to go to. far too many mistakes this season and he's far too much of a liability.

Can see either team winning this one, especially if Torres keeps going at Vidic who he clearly has the better of. On the other hand Rooney is always a threat and if Evra keeps falling over then it'll be a goal from the resulting free kick.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well well, Mr Webb is certainly making an impact here. No foul let alone a card for Neville? 2 footed jumping tackle from Rooney not punished? Carrick lashes out and kicks Kuyt and nothing but it was a carbon copy of Beckhams red card against Argentina. Fucking disgusting but we all knew this would be the case it seems.

Re: Liverpool Thread

pool were robbed never a pen only at OT it`s a pen...proof no red

Torres imo when fit is the best on the planet but Gerrard needs to take a shot on goal at least once ffs

Re: Liverpool Thread

How on Earth was Webb appointed to go to the World Cup? Puzzling

Re: Liverpool Thread

Webb is a disaster, but Rafa has to take all the blame for this lost. I cant understand why, after playing brilliantly against Portsmouth, he goes and put the best player of that match in the bench and he keeps insisting with Kuyt as a wing.

Let's not start this again.

It was a penalty.

He was sick mid-week with a virus.

The foul for the penalty was outside the area but Mascherano was fucking stupid pulling that diving cunt, Fletcher should have been sent off for quite clearly kicking out at Kuyt right in front of the cunt who was supposed to officiate the match.

Pathetic refereeing.

The second United goal was too easy but Fletcher shouldn't have been on the pitch, we've all seen players sent off for less than his kick out at Kuyt.

Come on mancs, surely you have enough humility and shame to realise that it was never a penalty? He started diving to the ground outside the box and only landed in the box. If it was against you there's no fucking way you'd say it was a penalty.

What is your argument about Fletcher?

"rule 23 paragraph 6; if a Man Utd player kicks out at an opposition player it is not a foul, only if the opposite happens is a red card warranted"

Pathetic imo.

Re: Liverpool Thread

If it was for you, you'd be the same as us.

To the letter of the law it was a penalty, the foul continued into the box and stopped there, FIFA rules dictate the foul is given when it stops.

Either way, it's a sad state of affairs today that players aim to stay up until they get in the box and then immediately go down.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well no, because he left the ground outside the box and landed in it, Mascherano pulled him outside the box and he landed inside it, that is not a penalty, I don't care what the rules say but i wouldn't be copying and pasting images of the rule book at this point if it had been the other way around, i'd have admitted that the foul was outside the box. I've done it before and i'd do it again, i'm not that biased. I can't believe anyone would stretch that far tbh.

I said before the match that it was obvious we'd concede a penalty or get a player sent off once Whiskey nose had done his mid-week rant about referees and the FA, it's a sad state affairs when one elderly jock can intimidate referees.

No, you constantly ridicule Benitez for not playing Aquilani but the lad didn't fucking train this week fully because of his virus, yet regardless of the facts you still use that to attack the manager. Do you not see why that annoys me?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Come on guys, there are more then enough manu fans in here to aim your frustration at, not need to have a go at each other. ;)

Supanova, have you ever played football ? It is not that because you were ill 5 days before the match, then you cant play. I have at played ill and im sure that most of Liverpool´s players have at least once, played ill.
Aquilani was back at training last thursday if im not wrong. If Benitez wanted to play Aquilani, he would have played him. Or dont you remember last match against Manchester in Anfield, what Benitez did with Torres ? He wasnt even near to fitness, he had to have injections in order to play.
If Aquilani doesnt play, it is clear that it is not because he is not fit. Because when he is, and so all his teammates, he doesnt get picked and Rafa prefers involving players like Benayoun or Torres coming back from their injuries rather than a lad that has been fit since October (against City and Wigan, in case you dont remember).
There is no way you can defend Rafa and his pathethic excuses about why he doesnt put Aquilani.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Gerrard may as well have not been on the pitch today for all the good he did.

I fear for the team and the comings and goings this summer I really do

Yes of course i've played football, and yes i've played after being ill, but...
Have you ever played at Premier League level? I very much doubt it. Aquilani missed training a few days before the game and was therefore not ready to start. If you are comparing that to us average people then you seriously are an idiot mate, really. If you can't see the difference between elite athletes and the normal person then there's clearly a problem you have.

If you were that big of a fan of Aquilani you'd have read the interview he gave 5 weeks ago where he said he was still playing with pain in his ankle, but we'll ignore that because it makes Benitez look worse.

Seriously, could you be any more blinkered? Aquilani has had one good game at Liverpool, he came on today and hardly touched the ball, but to you he is some sort of messiah.

You're comparing an injury (which Torres had last year) to a stomach virus, which can't be controlled by an injection, if only you understood logic this wouldn't be a problem, but i'll probably be suspended/banned because of your defective thoughts. Congratulations on having such skewed logic.
