Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hi, here is the maker of this new Dossena Face for PES 2008 again :D

I think it's awesome that we got so much money for Guthrie, who goes to Newcastle now :)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Er... I found 4,3 Million €, but you want to know it in pounds, right? Moment

okay, it's a bit less than 3,5 Million british pounds.

Re: Liverpool Thread

To be honest, he has potential to be good, just got one too many good central midfielders here already, just like Warnock who I think was half decent.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Degen looks quite good you know :D

1-0 against Tranmere. Playing lots of youngsters like Pacheco and Insua.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It was an alright game. So many new and random players in the team but they all seemed comfortable on the ball. Really good to see Agger back in the side. Degen looks like he could be quality. Voronin still looks shit :DD

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh, and the BEST NEWS I've heard in ages!

Xabi's staying!!!! :DANCE::DANCE::bounce::bounce::EASY::EASY:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well, the Juve director has said that Xabi is too expensive for them. And I can't see any other club going for him.

So, in my mind, he's staying!! :)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well that's a speculation I guess, they might be saying that to entice Liverpool to lower their asking fee IF they really want Barry (which means selling Alonso).

Re: Liverpool Thread

According to Rafa we're only in the mix for two more players. Assuming one is Barry and the other a striker, it doesn't look like we're getting any wide players :((

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is hoping to make further additions to his squad 'very soon'.

Benitez has already secured the signatures of defenders Philipp Degena and Andrea Dossena, and goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.

However, the Anfield club are also in talks with Aston Villa over the signing of Gareth Barry, while Benitez has admitted he is in the market for a striker following Peter Crouch's move to Portsmouth.

And, speaking after his side's 1-0 friendly win over Tranmere, Benitez revealed that he is looking to tie up two deals in the coming weeks.

"We are still working hard to bring in two more players," he added.

"I would hope that there would be some progress next week or very soon."

On his team's performance against Tranmere, he added: "I was delighted with the fitness levels of the players, [Yossi] Benayoun scored a fantastic goal and there were plenty of things that were really positive.

"I was happy with Daniel Agger's comeback, he will be a welcome addition to our defence in the coming season.

"Philipp Degen also did well on his debut, he was very impressive attacking down the right side."

"He (Cavalieri) did not have too much to do, but he is a keeper who will fight for his place and put pressure on others around him."

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh, fuck off.

Why the hell can't we just STICK with a system, and buy players according to that. No, we have to change it every fucking season, find a new role for Gerrard, and wait for a few months till when the players are fully adapted to it. I'll be absolutely fuming if we don't get a wide attacking midfielder.

Re: Liverpool Thread

So, looks like this is what we'll see next season

Reina/Cavalieri

Degen/Arbeloa Carra/Skrtel Agger/Hyypia Dossena/Aurelio

Mascherano/Plessis

Babel/Benayoun Gerrard/Lucas Barry/Leto

Keane/Voronin Torres/Kuyt

4-1-3-2

Not exactly what I'd hoped for, but still an improvement over last season, especially with our restricted budget. Think Babel, Benayoun, Barry or Leto (?) will play very narrow, and we'll use the full backs to provide the width. Barry or Kuyt will play in the '3' to provide a bit more protection to Masch with their work rate. Hopefully we'll see Babel make more of an impact, and more games from Benayoun, because I think if he's used more, he can be real quality for us. Lucas to play more of a part as well.

Keane would immediately improve our attacking output, and hopefully, so will an improved Babel and an in from Kuyt. Not something I was expecting, but we're keeping our core the same, which is important IMO. This group's had a good season, hopefully they are more confident the next.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Meh, really thought the 4-2-3-1 suited you lot that you were playing near the end of the season.

Actually I like the look of that a lot.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It will be closer next season, I can tell you that ..

Especially with the El Nino Effect :)

The thing is, if we bought a wing player (either wing), let us say Right Wing, where will Gerrard end up be? If we bought a left wing, where that would put Babel? So I think it would probably be better to buy an up-and-coming winger (AKA Lennon!) IF Babel or Gerrard screws up.

He's BACK!!

Re: Liverpool Thread

18.23The agent of Sergio Aguero has intimated that either Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester United are preparing a bid for his client.

If only we were actually interested seriously ...

Now his agent Jose Segui is quoted in the Spanish press as saying: "I've had interest from a leading English team and they've asked me to approach Atletico with a bid.

"I can't say more until I've spoken to the club about the offer.

"All I can tell you is that it's one of the best teams in Europe and it's not Chelsea."
