Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Can't believe I've got no way of watching our last game of the season :(

Re: Liverpool Thread

yeah over here it's only showing 4 live games. Chelsea, MU, Portsmouth and Fulham.

But it looks like Crouch is on his way out, not in the starting 11, while Voronin is, which means we will be having this wasteful player next season. *hopefully i'm wrong here*

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'll accept any direct links through a PM ;))

No SopCast links available and TVAnts needs to mess with proxies etc.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well since you're in UK then that's the problem, only TVAnts are available .. sorry. Gamecast shows it isn't a very interesting game ..

Re: Liverpool Thread

Gave up really, it just didn't seem to work whatever, just buffering.

How good is Torres? Absoloutely incredible, what a signing!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Torres is just AMAZING! Take me back to the start of the season, and I was pissed off that we signed the overrated Torres. How wrong I was! Got past Nistelrooy's record by scoring away. And what a goal it was.

Imagine how good he will be, when he finally adapts to the Premier League.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Isn't he now considered a local already? It's like he was born to play in England. Absolutely amazing player, and ending the season on a high note. Great win, I'll wait for the goal replay.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Agree that i don't see Torres needing to adapt to the league as he already looks like he's been playing here all his life. right you've got your 30 goal striker know times to improve other area's. by the way look behind you 1 behind you lot know! ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

17 titles, 18 titles. Simple enough? ;)

Just watched the game. First half we were poor, but 2nd half, we really came into our own. Benayoun was brilliant, and Lucas was fantastic for the small time he was in. And Babel is so frustrating to watch. Got all the talent to be a world beater, but not a drop of confidence in him.

And looks like Torres has gotten rid of the little problem of scoring away from home. People can say all they want about defenders getting to know Torres, but Torres' first goal of the season, and last goal were very similar, yet the defenders don't know how to stop them.

I'll be the first to admit, I was pissed off Rafa didn't sign David Villa last summer, and we ended up with Torres. Not his greatest fan during that time. 10 months forward, and how it's changed! 33 goals in his FIRST season. Beat Nistelrooy's record. Has scored in big matches when it mattered. And despite all this, I think he can still improve.

Still feel he doesn't score enough poachers goals. One reason could be the lack of quality out wide, which hopefully will be sorted with someone like Bentley, who's delivery is fantastic. He's certainly intelligent enough to score more of the poacher goals. Also feel, he's doesn't provide enough assists. Always see myself comparing him to Henry, who used to hold off defenders with his pace, and then present a simple tap in to Pires or Bergkamp. Torres certainly has the pace and power to do that. I'd like to see more of the assists that he could have gotten when he presented Babel with a tap in against City, which should have been buried.

Despite this, he's still been the best striker in Europe this season, and is only 24! He's just fucking unbelievable. Much, much better than I ever hoped him to be. And a well done to Rafa, who's transformed him from a good striker with potential, to arguably the best around. Finally a player worthy of wearing the No. 9 shirt at Liverpool. Hope he has a great Euro, and leads Spain to victory.

Oh, and Martin Skrtel is just fucking boss. Add Berbatov to the list of Anelka, Drogba, Adebayor, Owen, and others who have been owned by Skrtel power.

I'll be happy with the same transfer funds of last season. Rafa's recent buys have been just brilliant. Skrtel, Torres, Mascherano are just awesome. Lucas has been great, and is still to show his potential. Babel shown flashes of brilliance, which will get more consistent. And Benayoun has more than justified his price tag.

Thought it was funny that Dawson complimented during the week
and he does that to him...Yeah he does the drag/turn move quite a bit
but his explosion of pace still renders the defenders useless(bar Ferdinand)

Nah he should continue to be the goal scoring machine, leave the assists
to the likes of Babel

Along with that big lumbering lank Toni...

And Benayoun has more than justified his price tag.

Yeah great squad player, needs to toughen up. But i've been impressed
by his goals return(regardless of the opposition) and assists.

The boardroom needs to sort itself out now cause Rafa wants to sought
out the squad/first team.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I expect there'll be movement soon in the board room, it seems pretty widely acknowledged that this agreement between G&H runs out pretty soon and Gillete can then sell to DIC.

And he's been spending a lot of time with DIC lately :w00t::oooh:

Re: Liverpool Thread

How old is Lucas? if you lot were yo sell Alonso wouldn't he be able to step up instead of spending that money on a new CM that would allow you to strength other areas.

Turned 21 in January.

Still think he needs a season to adapt. He does need to bulk up. Certainly showed signs of class.

I see him as a long term replacement for Alonso. But not next season, which is why I feel Rafa is going for Barry. Consistent, proven in the Premier League, and will easily fit in for the bread and butter of the league.

In that sense, Barry is different from other Rafa signings. Neither is he a stop gap, nor a youngster in his early 20s, who can be developed into a top player, or a player in the 30s, who brings in valuable experience. Barry is a player for now, a player in his prime. Which makes this signing even more interesting.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yet he will cost you most of the money you have to spend leaving little or none for anyother transfer.

We need cover for CM anyways, if Xabi leaves. Both Mascherano and Lucas will be involved in the Olympics as well. Don't think Barry will cost that much. Should be around 10M + Carson (or Riise maybe), while we're rumored to get around 19M for Xabi from Real Madrid.
