Ligue 1

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

When you see Lyon calendar i have a big doubt about the participation for the next Champion's League.

Lyon / Grenoble
Rennes / Lyon
Lyon / Lille
Bordeaux / Lyon
Lyon / Monaco
Montpellier / Lyon
Lyon / Auxerre
Valenciennes / Lyon
Lyon / Le Mans

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

Zizou's fav French clubs =

1. OM
2. Bordeaux

right?
I think it's more complicated, Zizou born in Marseille but never play for OM, in Bordeaux Zidane become the great player we know with big friends Dugarry and Lizarazu. Zidane don't make a choice publicly just because can make unhappy the fans of the other club.

But i bet in OM, because Zizou go to Velodrome children, do ball boy and dream about Enzo Francescoli performance.

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

That's what I think.

He grew up in suburbs of Marseille and probably as a kid grew up supporting the mighty OM!

Then because of his great years and rise to superstardom at Les Girondins, he probably also has them as his 2nd fav club.

But now with the 2 clubs being more rivals than perhaps ever before, I guess he wouldn't say choice publicly to infuriate other clubs' fans. :P

So sad for Bordeaux...They didn't play their football last night.
Marseille were the better team last night and they deserve this League Cup.

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10 (Coupe de la Ligue - Marseille 3-1 Bordeaux)

Hazard, Gervinho, Frau, Cabaye and co. finally too much for the Montpellier machine.

Congrats to OM on the victory. Now Les Girondins are gonna have to make sure, another French side doesn't spoil their season further in form of Les Gones in CL!

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10 (Coupe de la Ligue - Marseille 3-1 Bordeaux)

6 teams 3 point difference at top! This is what you call exciting!! :D

OM looking like a decent bet for the title right now! :)

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10 (Coupe de la Ligue - Marseille 3-1 Bordeaux)

So OL as I suspected do knock out Les Girondins out of CL and FINALLY reach semi-finals of CL although by the tightest of margins and of course are now sitting top of the league table as well. It'll be tough to hold that 1st position though especially as I think Bordeaux have 2 games in hand.

Laurent Blanc's side now need to make sure they become back-to-back champions of France and they can definitely do it as well.

Day 14 :

Marseille 3-0 Sochaux

OM tale the lead

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

What's happening to Bordeaux? They are losing quite frequently atm. Any explanation?

Speaking for yesterdy's match, Ulrich Rame was sent off and so Bordeaux had to send on Abdoulaye Keita - who is Bordeaux's 3rd choice (Having said that, he played well and made some nice reflex saves). The back-line could have marked better, particularly for Hoarau's goal. For Bordeaux, the game was marred with inconsistent patches of strong possession and dominance followed by periods where PSG could simply cut open Bordeaux's defence. There were too many occasions where Bordeaux over commited themselves and were vulnerable on the counter attack.

You simply have to consider that the league is a lot more competitive this season and that Bordeaux have become rather predictable. And that's a good thing, it prevents the league from becoming stagnant and stops a rift being created between the top couple of teams and everyone else. After all, wasn't it really boring to see Lyon continuously win the league year in and year out (Unless you were a Lyon fan)?

Stunning form by Marseille. 11 games undeafeated and 5 wins in a row. Thought Lucho blew it when he hit the bar. Mbia two goals in two games and when he is playing CB. :)

What a nightmare for Bordeaux. Shocking result!!

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10 (Grenoble in Ligue 2)

OM gonna do it after yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaars!! Oh man... this must be exciting for so much of France!

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10 (Grenoble in Ligue 2)

It's hard to fathom them not obtaining the title, they seem to be getting 3 points out of every game. Credit must be given to Sochaux last night, it sounds like they truly fought against Marseille and provided stern opposition.
