Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

Hey guys.
Thought this would be the best place to say this

This morning at 03:15am in Washington DC, US and Sochaux striker Charlie Davies was involved in a serious car accident, one woman died, it is not known if Charlie was a passenger or driving.

No other vehicle was involved, the car Charlie was in hit a barrier, once at a hospital, Charlie needed surgery, not life threatening, however doctors did say it could be career threatening.

My thoughts are with Charlie and all the families involved, and I hope no other tradegies come from this accident.

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

What happened with Charlie Davies? Some sort of car crash apparently...

was writing mine as you posted Abou.

Such a shame, I'm sure more will come out when Charlie gets out of surgery

Made a new avatar to wish Charlie all the best, anyone who's read my blog will know that I've been following Charlie since the Confederations Cup

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

Bordeaux and Lyon both lose in the league at the weekend but do the business in CL against stronger oppositions mid-week!

While OM looks to have ended a bad period, having gotten back to winning ways both domestically and in Europe away from home.

3 wins from 3 matches for the French clubs in CL this week. Two outside of France as well! This is the best I remember for a long time! Let's see how they do in Europa league tomorrow.

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

Awesome week for French teams, Loved Lyon's win, Bordeaux should have won by more, and was a potential banana skin for Marseille, one win next time and Bordeaux qualify for the last 16

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

Like how compared to a few years ago when only Lyon were the stand out force, there are now at least three very strong French clubs, all of whom have raised the profile of French football with their performances in Europe.

Great to see.

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

Still a shame thatgerets isn't at L'OM anymore.
The CL wins are great news, i love French football...

PS:gib, how is hazard doing this year ?

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

3 wins from 3 matches for the French clubs in CL this week.

I remember 3 wins last year during the 4th matchday but yeah that's not very often. Marseille-Eindoven 3-0, Lyon Steaua Bucarest 2-0, Cluj-Bordeaux 1-2.
Before yesterday, Marseille had lost 6 games in a row outside France.

I wish I knew mate, only been able to watch highlights as there is no TV coverage of Ligue 1 in the UK this season, I've only seen the Lorient and Lens games, going on a mission this week to find games, really missing French football this year

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

I've seen little bits here and there as well only Gerd (not full matches except one or two) and Eden looks like the real deal! Definitely an exciting player WITH End product! Thank god! Every year, hundreds of young players get hyped up to death as we all know and honestly few actually have the potential or current ability to justify it but everytime I've watched Hazard, I fully approve of the hype this kid is getting. :)

He deserves it and looks better and better each time I see him.

In only a few years maybe even less, I can see him carrying the hopes of Belgium and of course he's not alone at all. There are many other young talented players Belgium has produced recently and some who are still in the work and coming through.

I expect and hope for a very bright future for Eden and a good at least improved future for Belgium Senior National Team as well compared to last few years.

Didn't remember that.

By the way what the hell is up with Bordeaux's HOME CL kits?! Red?!? It's ugly and just seems wrong!

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

Thanks Sina...
He has played a couple of matches wit our national team, but he was pretty average every time he played (as are all our internationals...).

Re: Ligue 1 - 09/10

I saw the game against Turkey. When he came on, he already was involved in a couple dangerous attacks and Mpenza's 2nd goal, wasn't he?

Of course I was so surprised to see Emile there. Seemed like sooo long ago he was their main man and in Schalke, etc. Couldn't believe he is leading Belgium's attack! But he looked good actually and scored both goals of course.

Swine flu forces postponement

Paris St Germain's Ligue 1 clash with Marseille has been called off following an outbreak of swine flu at the capital club.

The match was scheduled to take place at Stade Velodrome on Sunday evening but will now have to be rearranged for a later date.

PSG duo Ludovic Giuly and Mamadou Sakho were diagnosed with the virus on Saturday but the confirmation of a third case in the squad the next morning forced Ligue 1 authorities to act.

Two members of PSG's coaching team have also reported symptoms of swine flu.

The PSG squad have now been placed in a 72-hour quarantine to 'prevent any risk of infection, including among the opposing team, and to avoid any serious medical complications that could occur among players if the match were to go ahead'.

Frederic Thiriez, president of the French Football League, said: "I would like to apologise in the name of the LFP to the public, to the clubs, to the supporters and the TV broadcasters.

"It's clear that the players' health should be our main priority."

We can easily understand the disappointment of Marseille, which had the opportunity to play against Paris without Sakho, Clement, Giuly + Hoarau and Camara already injured, the game would have been way easier for Marseille.....but does Marseille need that to beat Paris?
