Wow!! Is Gignac fit?

Hardly a great player anyway, nonetheless, this is a bad time to be losing a player. Especially in an area where you don't have that much 'depth'. And although average, Brandao can always cause defenses some problems by opening space for team-mates using his size and hardworking attitude.

Guess he won't be facing Vidic and Co now.

Wonder if they'll move Remy to center with Ayew on left and Valbuena on right perhaps....

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Marseille won the match by playing well 7 minutes !
The strenght of futur champion or the proud of former champion ?
The sprint has started and Lille hasn't got enough experience to win.
This is the biggest quality of Marseille, every year in the sprint they do not loose points and that's why they'll be champions.
The point is that their game os catastrophic and Remy after being unuseful turns pathetic.
This is showing that Marseille is from far the best team of L1, they do not play at all, or badly, but they will be champions.
Lyon's defeat was predictable. Paris needed to wake up and what's best than this kind of match for it ?
Lyon only tried shots from outside the box, except one surrealist attempt that hit the bar. And with a great Coupet, nothing could break in.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

You right allezlinter, but don't forget Lille recently take some points in the additionnal time one month ago.
La roue tourne et elle a pas fini de tourner...

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Thomas you know as well as i do that whether ypu like OM or not you have to admit they are unbeatable in the 8 last matches of championship.
Now remaining 7 matches, i am ready to bet they'll take at least 16 points.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Recap of last 7 games for OM and Lille

Marseille vs Nice
Marseille vs Auxerre
Lyon vs Marseille
Marseille vs Brest
Lorient vs Marseille
Marseille vs Valenciennes
Caen vs Marseille

Lorient vs Lille
Lille vs Arles-Avignon
Nancy vs Lille
Saint-Etienne vs Lille
Lille vs Sochaux
Paris SG vs Lille
Lille vs Rennes

I agree the last 7 games look like a bit harder for Lille, but OM still have problems in Velodrome, but Lille still have 1 point in front and the goal average +23 for Lille and +19 for Marseille (is less than what I thought)

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11 (Arles-Avignon go to Ligue 2)

They had a bad result against PSG, but I still think Lyon might come through and win it.

Tbh, I think Lille are going to blow up and still not really sure about how consistent Marseille will be in the home run.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11 (Arles-Avignon go to Ligue 2)

Maybe but with 6 points behind and only 7 matches left, it might just be a little too much since they have to be perfect in last 7 matches which is not guaranteed at all AND hope both LOSC and OM drop enough points.

Lyon haven't shown too much consistency themselves under Puel so to expect it now at most crucial part of season is tricky.

But you're right, they're not completely out of it and have an outside chance still. They certainly have the players to do it. Will they have the belief, consistency, and mentality? I'm not so sure, we'll find out...

But the relegation battle is even more interesting. Arles has long been gone and Lens look like they will join them. But who will be the 3rd team? MANY Teams still in danger and with 21 points to play for, even teams up to 11th (All below Bordeaux) are still in danger.

Will Monaco go down? Will Toulouse perhaps?

Who thinks Monaco will go down to Ligue 2?

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11 (Arles-Avignon go to Ligue 2)

Yep, could well be right mate, I hope Lille win it, god knows why, possibly just a new name on the block really.

As for Monaco, very surprised how they are now.

Albeit I ain't too clued up in French football now with not much coverage in the UK (was usually on Setanta before that went tits up).

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11 (Arles-Avignon go to Ligue 2)

Well i sure hope Lille win it, because i lived in Gent for twenty years, which is only 75km from Lille and i sometimes went to see home matches of LOSC (this was when Vandenbergh and Desmet, both Belgian forwards, played for them).
I also realised that i've know Hazard's father pretty good. I used to play against him for 3 or 4 seasons and we liked each other quite well. Last year i bumped into him and he told me about his sons...(according to him the third brother who still plays in Belgium for Tubize, is by far the most talented...he's better than Eden).

All this said i'm afraid that OM will get the title, they are used being in this position and LOSC not...last year LOSC lost a CL place in the match against Lorient (and they still have to play Lorient).

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11 (Arles-Avignon go to Ligue 2)

In my opinion both Monaco and Lens will go down.
Monaco it is now almost ten years they do not have the motivation to play something else that the tenth's place, which is a shame.
It is too bad for Lens, i love this clubs who has with no doubt today the best public in France.
For me, the tittle will be won with experience, which Lille doesn't have and Marseille does.
Lyon will fall down after defeat against Paris and that's Paris who'll go in UCL.

Edit : do you want a joke ? We will have Evian in ligue 1 next year, almost for sure :P

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11 (Arles-Avignon go to Ligue 2)

I agree. Maybe Monaco NEEDS to go down to Ligue 2 to WAKE up. Kind of like Newcastle did. They've been getting worse and worse every year for last 5 years or so but always ultimately safe.... so maybe in order to reorganize and truly get rid of deadwood, new coach/backroom, they need to suffer the worst and be out of Ligue 1 for a year. Maybe it's for the best....

As for the 3rd CL place, that's gonna be very interesting. Whether it'll be PSG after that victory or Lyon can hang on.... then there's Rennes who might surprise both. Either way, a year out of CL for Lyon is unthinkable! It'd be the ultimate downfall!

Puel will probably get the sack at end of season unless Lyon were to do what FD mentioned and have great closing weeks and end up with title.

And if they finish 4th then Puel is DEFINITELY gone!

As for Lille, I have more faith in them than rest of you it seems. I think it could go either way. OM or LOSC. We'll see. The club itself may not have that much experience but lot of the players do. Mavuba and Landreau to name just two who are vastly experienced and Int'l caps. Rest are super talented, may be young but also the FOCUSED young type not the party hard, stupid ones.

Most likely OM will win the title. I give them 60% chance and LOSC 40% but 40% is still high and they can do it. It'd be crazy in the north if Lille won the title and Lens were relegated and it could happen.

The problem is that the reconstruction is even more difficult in france than elsewhere : look Metz, Nantes, Lens, ... who now are in deep sh*t when they were the best clubs in France not so long ago.
So I don't know what Monaco will be able to do in L2.
The main problem of Monaco is that most of their players are on loan, which means they do not care about the club's next season (same problem in Nantes).
For the third place (and also for the first one), France is THE example championship. Whoever leads the championship, it is always experience who pays.
For me, bothe Lille and Rennes can't pretend to be neither champion nor in CL.
To come back to Mavuba and Landreau, I agree they have experience but they are not leaders.
Tbh, i'd say that Lyon's situation is due to Aulas management.
Puel is a great coach. He should let him work and not always be interviewed, impose his decision to the coach, ...
It is not possible to have 2 leaders.
Maybe Puel will be sacked but this would be a BIG mistake, because no one today in french football is able to coach Lyon.
For me, if i have to go to statistic, i'd say :
First place : OM 75%, LOSC 20%, OL 5%
Second place : LOSC 98% OM 1%, OL 1%
Third place : PSG 60%, OL 39%, SRFC 1%
Fourth place : SRFC 30%, PSG 20%, OL 50%
Fifth place : SRFC : 70%, OL 30%
Relegation places : Lens 50%, Caen 15%, Monaco 30%, Nancy 5%
