Ligue 1

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Well to be honest, i got the impression from that interview that Hinze is a classy guy, that doesn't mean he is actually one...

Like always a fascinating start for Ligue 1, but in the end i guess clubs like, OM, Ol, Bordeaux or Lille (my favourite team) will prevail. Outsiders this year: Rennes.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Rennes and Toulouse are good teams with some good players and always an outsider. Toulouse off to an amazing start. 4 matches into the season, OL and the rest already have some catching up to do with what is primarily a rugby city from what I understand. No Gignac, but Moussa Sissoko still there, Capoue, Didot, etc.

In regards to Rennes, I have a feeling, Asamoah Gyan will be off within the next 24 hours for a big money move somewhere. Perhaps Sunderland where Steve Bruce already admitted they've put a club record bid in for him.

PSG better improve this year as they stuck by Antoine KAmbouare but if no progress is made, surely he'll be moved on... (not that the coach is necessarily the problem in Paris lol)

In regards to Heinze, I don't know if I'd call him 'classy' but he is one to stand up for what he believes in and speak his mind. If that is going to offend a million people, he doesn't care. So he does have balls and is outspoken and in that sense, one to be admired. But that can also be the opposite of 'classy' at times.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

St. Etienne have loaned out Gelson Fernandes to Chievo! And Benalouane to Cesena!

Can't really understand the logic behind these!

In other news, LOSC have lost Plestan to Schalke but brought in David Rozenhal on loan from HSV.

And Kevin Gameiro stays at Lorient for now...

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Some mayhem as you can expect in the Northern derby this week and LOSC walk away 4-1 victors away from home after Lens get an early red card.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

If i'm not mistaken, Lens had two red cards and they even equalised with 9 against eleven...still very glad with Lille's first win.
Strange competition: all the bit teams had a lousy start. Rennes might be a serious contender this year. Also glad with the good start of St-Etienne. Arles-Avignon seem hopeless already. Just like Grenoble last year.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Puel might get the sack now!

OL lose in derby and are now 18th! Even though before match, Aulas said Puel is safe for now, the pressure is definitely mounting.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

I think eventually Lyon will get better, they were rather good in the CL last year...that must mean something.
But until then, Puel might get the sack indeed.

I think loosing to St-Etienne must have hurt a lot in Lyon.

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Yeah you bet!

It's like kicking an already down opponent lool.

Funny thing about this fixture is that usually when it was played in recent years, it's Lyon cruising near top of table while poor Les Verts are struggling and yet Lyon still don't make it any easier for them... now it's opposite. St. Etienne top of the table, Lyon near bottom and St. Etienne win as well!

The tables have truly been turned. For now..... won't last all that long :P

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Brest has conceeded theyr first goals since late August :CONFUSE: So , they had eight game run without conceeding a single goal , that is just amazing . Afcorse , as every season they are the ones that surprise most . We can remember last season when Montpellier with Tino Costa , Montano , Ait-Fana , Nenad Dzodic ahead , were the leaders of Ligue 1 . These things really have theyr own charm when you get promoted to Ligue 1 and you start your season aggressively without looking back . Congratualations goes to Arles-Avignon ! They have won theyr first 3 points this season . It seems that Saint-Etienne cant handle the pressure and with lots of injurys and the fact that Payet stoped scoring , they are going back to the middle of the table . Personally , I had a nightmare last evening when Nancy managed to get beated by Monaco in Stade Marcel Picot by 0 - 4 ... Chretien got injured in the begining and it had to be replaced by Lemaitre who is left back , not a right back . Own goals from Gavanon and Loties were really hard to deal with ... and when you have such a fast player as Chu Yong Park at the front , you can expect to double your lead on counter attacks . Nanacy have really big issues with defence this season ... no wonder , when Ouaddou went to Qatar , Macaluso to Mexico , Vera Cruz , and Calve with Helder were loaned .

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

Glad to see Paris SG winning a "classico" at home after 6 years!

How many bottles were flying to Lucho when he was taking corners ? Anyway , it was a good game , lots of battle , in other words "classico" . As Wenger once said , PSG is number 1 in France for not using theyr full potential . Win against Marseille is very important to everyone out there , it also might kick things on for the capital team and start some winning run . It would be about time , they are third at the moment .

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

I f'n hope so.

A capital city like Paris DESERVES a good club. PSG has so much unfulfilled potential, it's crazy. I'd love to get that job one day! :D

I know there are differences but just compare what London and its football clubs have to offer and what football in Paris means!! Two big capital cities, two of the most famous in the world and the situation couldn't be more different!

Re: Ligue 1 - 10/11

another goal for el arabi today against lille and he share the top scorer title with sow whom scored a hat trick against caen. both of them are surprise scorer, el arabi comes from ligue 2 and sow wasn't really shining in rennes.
Now that's an important win for Lyon and even more so for Claude Puel!

As for Arles, they're finding Ligue 1 VERY tough, aren't they?! :D
they had a ridiculous mercato, they bought 17 players I think. :CONFUSE:

a city like paris should have 2 teams in ligue 1. is there any other football country with the biggest city having only one club in first div ?
ps : I wanted to congratulate you for what zobahan did in asian CL, too bad they lost today :(
