GTA IV - NON-SPOILER THREAD

I read a month ago that the DLC was being pushed back to Fiscal ’09, which begins on November 1st and ends around January ish i think?

I actually still have my copy. I am 20% into the story and really spend hrs on end just screwing around in the city busting caps on folks and blowing things up. The free roam is what keeps me going with this game. It's really taken me away from the single player. This is a classic, I will never sell it.

I won't get rid of this game either - It's a bit weird for me really, I don't play it all that much but I know I would miss it if I got rid of it.

I wish I had taken it more slowly and made it last me longer though, rushing through it within a couple of weeks was a bad decision - I still enjoyed every minute of it though. The games we had online were also fun, but those won't happen any more :(.

I think all the hype and previews, plus the 10/10 reviews made us expect too much from this game...

That's exactly what I said to Will the other day, everyone hyped it up so much we expected it to be MUCH better than it actually is, though it is a great game. I'm the same as you, I don't play it much anymore but I know for a fact if I got rid of it I'd miss it like mad and want to play it again.

I put it on today to try and finish the story and forgot how good the game actually is

Its has been a over month since i last touched it and i forgot the buttons

 I sometimes don't risk using the nades, It sometimes accidentally doesnt go very far and have to run for cover! Dunno why people think there isn't enough money, you need to spend a fortune on weapons anyway.

Yeah, the Bank Job mission is so fun, I think it could be the best one in the game! I died a few times ding it though. I do want to play this again, I just don't have time cause of all the other games I'm playing!

When I got my Xbox replaced I lost all my game saves so I'm half tempted to start this again. I just think it'd be really frustrating to do the early missions in shitty clothes with no good weapons again so I may not.

Funny, every time I put it on to try and finish I'm reminded of how terrible the game actually is.

The sluggishness of the controls infuriates me.

Microsoft: Grand Theft Auto IV DLC coming this Autumn

In the midst of the Leipzig Games Convention, Microsoft has issued a statement (via IGN) about the much-ballyhooed and long-delayed Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content. Said Microsoft, "In autumn there will be news from Liberty City; the first episodes of GTA IV will be available for download exclusively on Xbox LIVE, underlining Xbox 360's leadership role in the field of digital entertainment."

While we're fairly certain "news from Liberty City" is indicative of an Autumn launch, the "news" could just be a more confirmed release date for later this year. Take-Two previously noted that the DLC is expected in Fiscal Q109 (between November 1, 2008, and January 31, 2009). We've put in a call to Microsoft for clarification, who may or may not be too busy booking tickets to San Andreas. Update: Heard from Microsoft who confirm that the exclusive DLC itself is coming this Fall.

We're still looking for the hidden, anti-Rockstar message in this piece of news: A teenager pulled her siblings to safety from their crashed family car after learning of the dangers from playing Grand Theft Auto.

The family of five was en route to visit relatives in Diamond, US when their Jeep Grand Cherokee drifted off the road, struck a guardrail and flipped four times before coming to rest upside-down in a ditch.

"She just knew, from playing 'Grand Theft Auto.' She saw on there that when a car rolls over, it can blow up. She knew that could happen to us," the child's mother Karen Norris told My Web Times.

Realising the back window had broken, 11-year-old daughter Audrey Plique climbed over the spare tyre to get out and then proceeded to pull her mother, father, two brothers and sister our of the battered vehicle.

"She showed the kind of bravery and courage you don't expect from an 11-year-old," Norris said. "She stayed composed. She sounded upset, but she knew the things she had to get done to help her parents and her siblings."

There you are then. The Daily Mail can use GTA as a scapegoat for crime, and we can use it for the opposite. Everyone buy GTA: it teaches you about car safety.

This is going to make us want to go through the game again. That is cool, they should have trophies for every game now, be nice. Where'd you get that list?

Hmmm....nope, still glad I traded it in.

However, if they started doing trophies for PS2 games and they had San Andreas...

And Sarah's right, every game should have trophies, even if they're exactly the same as the 360 versions' achievements.
