GTA IV - NON-SPOILER THREAD

I think artistically this is one of the finest games ever made. As the above post (great link) shows the level of detail in the game is phenominal. Ok so it might be a bit short lived and I don't now play this game as much as CoD4 or FIFA/Euro but when I play this game it's total immersion.

I would def recommend getting it. At it's core it's a solid, good game, but when you factor in all the other stuff like the radio stations, the level of detail in the environment, the voice acting (the fact they speak proper Russian (unlike BFBC) and Serbain) means the whole thing is a sublime package. It's the only game I've got since Winning Eleven 6:FE where I think great value for money.

I am, I'm at approx 90% - trying to get the 100% even if it means shooting those fecking annoying pigeons.

It's also a game a lot of my friends have so I've held on to it for that reason.

Havn't played it in weeks. Its funny how we spend months (years in this case) waiting for a game where the hype is so high you just expect to be playing it for ever. Then after a few weeks when you've finished it and the hype dies down, you don't care about it.

I am sure a message came up telling me that I could put the missions on hold via the mobile somehow.

I cant find how to do that now, does anyone know how to do this?

Set your in game mobile to silent and you will get no more calls to do missions

actually you put your phone into standby and its the last thing in options i think ;))

Hey guys i was wondering when you complete the main storyline is that 50% of the game? and the other 50% is side missions etc?

F$$$$ck!!!! I updated to 1.02, and now my saved games are gone! Christ! How the hell they make that to us! Right now I could kill the idiot at Rockstar who did this. I had spent 50 hours and had done 76 missions, almost 70% completed... I'm furious. Is there a way to recover my saved games? Don't tell me they delted them because I could kill someone right now...

when did you update I have not seen this?

I updated 30 minutes ago! But I'm going to sleep now as I'm really disappointed. A lot. I mean it. Seriously.

Right now, I got nothing, simply lost all my progress into the game. It supposedly fixes some online annoyances for PS3. But considering it's gamespy on the back end anyway, I very much doubt all the bugs have been solved... So, no one has had the same problem as me?

Then I'm going to be really furious. Please, someone can loose all his progress even if it's only to be on my side on this one?

60% is the story, the other 40 is all the little odd bits

EHEMMM...... I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO PUT IT STRAIGHT....

You can call me many things. Nick, don't worry, it was ALL MY FAULT! :EMB:

My gf had changed the HD without me knowing it. Jesus! I could have killed her when she told me!!!!

But she's so pretty...

So, it's stupidity by myself, I should have watched a little deeper and I would have seen it. Now I understand why nobody was having this issue.

No, wait, I will email Rockstar right now because it's untolerable to loose your savegames when you change your HD! :r1

I will try it tonight... Sorry lads, I've had one of those days, because Avast crashed and had to change the regfile to solve it, the mouse ran out of batteries and had to wait for 30 minutes for a meeting with a client. Grrrrrrr....

 No worries drekkard, girlfriends are there to test us, it's why they are pretty so they can get away with so much and you just have to forgive them...
;))

I had a shot of GTA race the other day.

One thing I couldnt work out was the checkpoints on the way to the final destination. On the map it looked like I was at the checkpoint, but I couldnt see anything. Alos couldnt see where the final destination was.

The documentation for online stuff is non existant which is pants.

It was a laugh though with everyone starting on foot looking for a car.

Finally had some time to play this game... now about 21% in... must be the slowest guy ever, playing maybe 2 missions a night and then doing some random acts: taking in a cabaret show, playing darts, etc.

Am really enjoying this one much more than San Andreas, as the game seems more modular, without the need to maintain territories, keep fit, etc. I just want to pick up and play for 15 minutes.

I think as i have less time to play, i am starting to like the linear, structured and concise stories e.g. COD4...the missions in GTAIV are short and sweet so far. Still amazed by the level of detail and the dialogue. Really fantastic in terms of immersion.

I also plugged in my JVC SU-DH1 Dolby Headphone decoder, and the game is amazing with it... anyone else tried this?

Watched some very funny TV: I'm Rich... and that US Army Cartoon, the LCPD recruitment ad is very funny too... The radio psychic is also a blast.

All in all.. the quirkiness really adds color to a solid game... have not enjoyed any other GTA as much as this one.
