Formula1

Magnussen and Ricciardo are equally stupid. Magnussen's clash with Kimi was a normal race incident, nothing he did on purpose. Ricciardo's 10-place-penalty is a disgrace, the time penalty alone would've been enough. Especially if you consider that they fixed it before anything happened.

Magnussen was at fault as he was too far behind and he destroyed Kimi's race. But 5 second stop/go + penalty points is a bit too much. Either one of them would be sufficient.
Ricciardo's penalty is disgrace because it was not his fault. But after last year when cameraman was hit in head by loose tire which fell of one of the cars they started to apply more serious penalties for those mishaps.

i think Ricciardo's penalty is legit because it's a team sport and if Ricciardo for example smashes his red bull against a wall the team will lose points through no fault of there own so it works both ways..
also, once again, hulkenburg was class, i think ferrari made a mistake by taking raikkonen instead..

The penalty itself is legit, I think no one doubts that, it's just the question if the hard and double punishment is correct.

ye i get that but the 10second penalty made almost no difference to Ricciardo as he was a lap behind and out of contention for any points so he escaped that punishment really so they had to punish him again so that he is actually affected, it is harsh though for sure, but at same time is quite dangerous, cos like cuky said. last season a cameraman got knocked the fuck out from loose wheel.

Williams having "Racing" instead of "Martini" on their livery in Bahrain

I have the feeling that this season is becoming a real tough one for Sauber and Lotus. Red Bull and Ferrari show some development at least since the test or respectively the first race in Australia.

I agree, I think the frequency and severity of these penalties has got out of hand. We have to remember these guys are racing and incidents happen. Award them when they are fully deserved but otherwise accept that these things happen.

Oh dear, Mercedes are dominating by miles so far. When they continue like that I don't see any particular team or driver even contesting them for the title.

Btw: Sakhir looks way better and much more intense under flood light than in daylight, good decision to move the starting time back into the evening.

at least this season it looks like there will be 2 drivers fighting for title instead of last year only 1..

Some drivers are still complaining that those cars are sooooo much slower than last years, yet difference between pole last year and today is 0,9 seconds (last year 1:32.2 and this year 1:33.1)

0.9 seconds? what is the point of complaining about that? it's not really much difference and adrian sutil must be off his fucking head, what he doing to grosjean was funny as fuck but out order,

lewis fastest in all the practices but then rosberg goes quicker when it matters in quali..

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I find it incredible that the engine size has been reduced by some margin from last year (2.4 V8 to 1.6 V6) and the pole lap is still within a second. That shows how F1 teams are at the forefront of automotive development in that they can adapt to very different and more fuel efficient powerplants with little loss in performance.

F1 has long been about innovation and development of technologies that eventually filter down to road cars. Hybrid and electric vehicles are the future and F1 has to embrace this to remain relevant. The days of huge engines and deafening noise are behind us.

Bahrain in short form:

- Mercedes dominated the race and won without any pressure by the rest. Great motor sport by Lewis and Nico.
- Force India made a brilliant job with 3 and 5.
- Vettel did what was the best possible with the 6th place.
- Ferrari are disappointingly slow.
- Maldonado should rather become a crash test dummy than a F1 driver.

Yep, noticed that, too. Shouldn't post in a forum and watch TV while talking to someone. Three things at the same time are obviously at least one too much for me.

On the other hand, change Vettel to Ricciardo in my original sentence and it makes sense as well. ;)

Excellent race today. Even with the Mercedes AMG domination, Lewis and Nico were allowed to race and the entertainment value was top notch. Great showing by Force India and, to a lesser extent, Williams. Red Bull look a little more competitive at least but Ricciardo is genuinely impressing me with how comfortable he looks at the sharp end of the pack.

I don't know what's up with Ferrari but the car looks languid.

Maldonado really deserves a race ban. The man is a fucking liability.

Anyway, if F1 can deliver more races like this I think few can moan about the changes to the regulations. Even the engine sound is growing on me, although they sound like Moto GP bikes from the onboard cameras.

Truth to be told, I love how the engine sounds. I agree with everything you have said through this topic but the thing is, people will still moan because this World Championship is Mercedes to lose! Mercedes has almost 2 seconds per lap at their dispossal, they are impossible to catch. I'm fine with that since I'm a fan of the Silver Arrows. :D

I'm a Mercedes fan too, both in F1 and DTM so I'm quite happy that it's their time to shine.

Although saying that, Williams has always been my team in F1.

Maldonado is a fucking wasteman, sometimes i think he is only in F1 to create safety car situations that will make the race interesting.. he will probably get a race ban this season but only question is how soon, 12 points for a ban init? and what a horrible race for mclaren, with mercedes engine i hoped they be the leading team after mercedes but it looks like williams and force india have got they shit sorted out better than them so far this season.

and i also watch GP2 but i haven't seen any this season, need to catch up on it..

F1, okay, but DTM? :BORED:

@Maldonado issue: He's the classic example why pay drivers are crap. I agree that they might be needed to fund all those expensive series, but especially his talent is very limited, to put it nicely.

Funny last 15 laps or so today. Williams was really unlucky with that pit stop and lost half a minute but were driving well enough to challenge the 3rd spot. Again, Bottas surprise me as a really sensible driver.
