FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

I dont even know what Pro Clubs are..
I thought there's only FUT and thats it..

Pro Clubs is 11 real people vs 11 real people, or as close as possible depending on the size of the club you create.

Pro Club drop-in

When we talked about the “streamlined” experience, the biggest reference is to the functionality of the Pro Club Drop-in. It is a new way to play casual games in total relaxation with friends or with those who are called "like-minded individuals", or people who are looking for our same gaming experience .

Once the Drop-in has started, you will find yourself in a lobby that includes a maximum of four players gathered together "under the same roof": these can arrive either from matchmaking or at the invitation of the guest, and here the host can decide the role of each player based on his characteristics. The lobby integrates a voice chat which, if necessary, can be changed in order not to annoy others.

In all likelihood, this is the fastest way to start playing with friends, something that Electronic Arts - through all the other modalities that we will deepen in the course of the month - is trying to encourage in every way, presumably leaving individualism to areas. specifics of the title such as the aforementioned FUT and Career.

Similarly, it is plausible that this tool is used above all by groups of friends, who will perhaps want to guide newbies to the mode by the hand or enjoy a session between a chat and the other with people they know: certainly, with the speed of access. which was briefly shown to us in the presentation, is a very interesting tool for these purposes.

Player growth

One aspect that was debated for a long time during the presentation we witnessed, and not only with regard to Pro Clubs, is the growth of the player . EA Sports has incorporated several new elements intended to deliver to FIFA 22, a light component ruolistica among boost to be selected for your player attributes and improve every time you level up.

In each type of activity it will be possible to earn experience points (whether it is the new Drop-in, the friendlies, the championship ...) and, at the end of each game, we will have an experience bar that will fill up based on the actions we will have done, such as goals and tackles, as well as a score based on the vote and on how we will have played, both in defense and in attack.

In the demo that was shown to us we saw the transition from level 2 to level 3, with which 4 skill points and 2 perks were earned . These are unlocked exactly like in the Player Career, which we will be able to talk about later in the month, and specifically they were Last Defender and Clutch Save (you will notice even after that in EA Sports there are defense fans and as Italians we can only be happy with them ).

In our in- depth analysis of the gameplay we were able to highlight the introduction of new statistics such as heatmaps and expected goals. These are also included in the Pro Club experience: the statistics are very detailed and include, in addition to a summary, details on possession, shooting, passing, defense and saves, clearly with increasing interest in each one based on the role played.

In short, whether it is to understand how and having to be able to improve, or if we are talking about then having the suitable tools to implement intelligent player growth, FIFA 22 provides everything you need to empower your budding player according to the desired of everyone: an improvement that does not seem insignificant.

Archetypes and perks

On the subject of customization , players will have the opportunity to choose and make a switch on the fly between 5 unique playing styles , with as many different roles without altering their appearance: we have seen striker, midfielder, central defender and goalkeeper, so there are just everyone. Within each of them, there will be skill trees, similar to those seen in Volta, where to distribute the skill points earned on the field in these categories:

  • Physicist
  • Defence
  • Dribbling
  • Ride
  • Shot
  • Race
  • Parade
Upon completion of each skill tree , an archetype can be unlocked , which is in fact a special skill with a higher cost (18 points) that fully defines the identity of our player. In the demo we saw the Guardian archetype, which significantly improves interception, defensive awareness, tackles and slips in defense.

In addition, perks have been introduced, which are called "gameplay boost" and are obtained by leveling up as we described a few lines ago. These boosts are activated by completing certain actions throughout a match, but must be selected before starting to play, and you can choose a maximum of three per match.

Some examples we have seen:

  • Defensive closer : increase defensive attributes in the last 15 minutes + recovery
  • Assist streak : After an assist for a goal, increase passing attributes for 15 minutes
  • Active first touch : after a first check increases ball control, acceleration and sprint
  • Skilled dribbler : Increase dribbling and skill moves after doing one
In short, both during the match and before, we will be able to have a decisive impact on the performance of our player, determining the established characteristics and those that have the opportunity to evolve during a match, where on the wings of enthusiasm for a particularly successful shot we will obtain the opportunity to do even better.

Two more things

Pro Club is proposing to take a real leap forward , and this will also pass for two details that should not be underestimated. The first, now that we have discussed player customization on an individual basis, is about customizing the club at 360 degrees and from all points of view.

As we will see in the new Career, the modality has in fact incorporated all the innovations that have been made regarding the identity of the stadium and the squad: we will be able to touch up the grass and the stands of the structure that will host us, changing their format and color - whether we talk about the stadium as a whole or just the seats -, and even details such as the chants that will come from the fans in the curve or the song that will start at each goal (in a voice called “Atmosfera”) and the network will be covered.

With this in mind, Pro Club will no longer be the son of a lesser god, as has frequently happened in recent years, but will introduce an expansion of its mechanics that will go hand in hand with the rest of the game. The expansion also involved the options already available, with more kits and logos or simply balls to be used at home.

Finally, a second novelty that will please lovers of representation and diversity : players will be able to create female athletes and see them compete in mixed 11v11 matches against other male players. As in the other modes, women will have a set of peculiar animations both in terms of movements and a totally customizable look.

I think the grass on Fifa 22 looks kinda worse than fifa 15 and 16. Looked shiny and nice on 15 and 16.

I think @Joonloop has a bunch of guys or even teams doing just that.

Thanks for the shout out

Yes I do but only for full manual control players @Topaz . We have a very active full manual community on the Discord platform, for everything manual controls (pro clubs, 1v1, discussions etc)

If not interested in manual controls then it should be even easier to find people to play with through other assisted discords or fifaclubs reddit. Pro Clubs is a pretty popping game mode there is lots of players looking for groups out there

It's the mode competitive fifa should be based on, every player on the pitch controlled by a human, no AI to worry about and 100% skill based. Team sport -> Team e-sport. Makes sense, right?

But that could be fun to play & watch, but not profitable. The whole point of competitive is to draw people into spending thousands for building their team with cards, it's not about anything more than that, which kinda explains why it's a joke. A bad joke that has ruined football games.

After saying I wouldn’t get this I think that I might have to - I really like what I’ve seen and think if it’s difficult in Career Mode like it used to be then I’m all over it.

I can put up with gameplay not being perfectly simulated because after playing a lot of PES 5, I’ve realised that I just want a football game where I can lose myself for a few hours and pretend I’m managing a football club. Whilst I love retro PES, I’m missing the 4K beauty of modern gaming and my D-Pad is nearly broke

IF it’s easy like FIFA 17 onwards, I might cry. It’s such a simple thing for EA to address surely?

The grass textures on FIFA 21 NG are terrible and look really artificial, they look much better on the PS4 version.
2-3 years later they will fix the grass and sell it as new feature.

Fifa 05 pc port had better looking grass:

This one below was from fifa 2004 pc:

I think the grass here actually looks better than all of the xbox 360 generation fifa games and kinda looks real.

EA did downgrade fifa 06, 06 wc and 07 pc port though and removed the 3d grass while xbox still had it. But yeah imagine having worse grass than ps2 gen game.

EA is trying to deliver an interesting FIFA in terms of modes and gameplay, my fear is the reception of the community 😅
wich part?! ;)

yeah, on paper (pitch notes) it read so lovely... even the trailer had me triggered with the right buzzwords... but still...
there is one hope of a vanilla version being good and only future updates may move the title more towards "the community"!

The CM community or the FUT community?

No idea what you mean. But... different gameplay modes, options & sliders, can help with that. I hope this helps with their fears about reception. They have all the power & tools to make sure it's received well.

I think he meant FUT zombies? If the game is actually good and resembles the sport which is football then they’ll complain and force EA to change it back to Virtua Striker.

What I thought. If EA are thinking they are going for something more realistic that will upset many FUT kids who will force them to patch/ruin the game then...

1) I don't think it looks that realistic to begin with, defensively. 1v1s and all. Better than 21 is not necessarily good enough. Try 17 or 16 for something approaching good enough. In this case different gameplay modes, options & sliders may help us get there.

2) Even if I'm wrong & it's good on launch but they are forced to ruin it, same thing with the different modes. They can save the game for the rest of us.

Either way, same gameplay for everyone is a finished concept. Dead. Kinda like PES.

That's an insult to Virtua Striker. The midfielders probably track back better in it.

And can anyone sum up what sounds or looks promising about the gameplay this year (without regurgitating buzzwords) because I simply don't see it. Every gameplay clip still clearly shows braindead AI due to "1v1". Surely this ruins everything as a gameplay experience no matter if they do make improvements elsewhere?

Even if the rest of the gameplay were perfect, you can't have something resembling football when at any moment 9/10 outfield players (at least for the defending side) are not participating in the match.

I second this mate. Virtual Striker is/was galaxies of simulation, in contrast with what FuT crowd wants.

OT but checking all football games history, the third factor if ever could be one , only company far from PES and FIFA that produced something closer to simulation, was SEGA with Virual Striker.

There was a small book worth of pitch notes but it doesn't mean much until someone plays the game or watches a full game against the AI, because all the clips so far are a few seconds each.

Zonal defending *sounds* good and *looks* better than the mess in 21, but improving on 21, one of the worst games ever, is no achievement, and players don't really defend their zone as there's still no defensive AI. So it's not a given that it *plays* better. And the other big thing is that animations are supposedly better on next-gen.

We just have to see a full match against the AI. It could be the same old crap with ping pong passing and no midfield or it could really be better.

Totally off topic, but I played the first clip, went full screen and didnt realise I was watching it on the loop. I spent about 5mins thinking to myself - why he keeps going back to the same options??
Same here :LMAO:

I fear it will be pal.

I too like all the info they always release, but both EA and when Adam was mainly Pro, seem to know exactly what we want to hear every year, how that translates in to actuality is always very different.
It’s our imaginations that transforms their words into our visual desires. It’s always been that way.
I used to read the games magazines back when it was PES 3 and make formations and dream about how that would work in the game.
The sad thing is, is that they no longer try to make a game that replicates football or the feeling of it. They make a game that has all the facade of football, but underneath its full of gaming mechanics and not controller mechanics based within the framework of football. I hope it’s good though haha.

it’s getting tedious year after year being let down.
