FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

That’s news to me! Since when?
Maybe not directly affiliated with Konami/PES (AFAIK), but he has a vested interest and will almost certainly be publishing PES 2022 content on YouTube in 6 months for his 60k+ subscribers whether the game is total shite or not. He's a PES guy and likely makes a decent amount of money from his videos so is unlikely to say much that would jeopardise that or attempt to branch out to or switch over to other games even if they were better.

Same goes for "content creators" on either side - they're not neutrals. They'll find whatever they want to suit their narrative and produce the same content for their established audience and YT algorithm. Same guys will make the same tutorials each year, "realism reviews", ML campaigns, FUT pack openings etc.

Spoony is a Konami/PES guy, take everything he says with a pinch of salt.
I once asked if he knew about PES 2022 or when they'll reveal more , I can't seem to find that anymore but it was 5-6 months ago or so, he said he can't reveal but he knows

The number of the sales posted days ago (which I saw only this afternoon) completely demolished me lol. I think the only hope at this point is them throwing some leftover at us in some vague future, and I still wouln't bet a cent for it to happen. There is just no way Fifa will ever be a proper football game again.

Well, his video history is a mixed back to me. First 2022 news came 5 month ago. 7 more videos reg. 2022 and some fifa. Don’t know, looks legit to me. :D

i wouldn’t wanna put them all in one drawer.

if I can think of starting an “honest channel”, I can think of others doing that even better. earlier.
people can change so I have that in mind. To good or bad.

Him, that Brits guy etc all make money from PES with their option files and YouTube channels.

You won’t get non-biased views from them at all, like I say best ignored.

@PRO_TOO

Spoony is PES Universe. They will never say PES is bad even when it is.

And TTB presenting style is almost unbearable. Archaic and theatrical. Just so lacking in any authenticity. It feels like am-dram. He seems to spend a lot of time saying nothing very much. Which makes sense if what he's been doing all this time is actually trying to sell something as barren as pes.
Both spoony and TTB are just pushing PES stuff without much criticism.
Stopped watching/listening to their sales pitches a long time ago.

I saw a Spoony video on the PES22 beta and whilst he didn't completely dismiss the game in the way he would have done if that had been the FIFA22 beta, he did admit being disappointed with it. Mind you, he would have lost all credibility if he'd said he thought it was good.

But he's always seemed far more willing to focus on the negatives with FIFA whilst focusing on the positives with PES. That said, I gave up on FIFA years ago so I don't disagree with his opinions about it.

Interesting bit of news. Well, not news, just an interesting spot.

I follow a guy on Twitter (@StallionSama, or "Stallion"), who constantly rages about how blocking passing lanes in FIFA is pointless due to every pass being placed so perfectly your players are basically psychic.

He also points out how absolutely ridiculous the skill-moves are, and how skill-chaining is a joke, compared to what a footballer could actually achieve (without getting dizzy).

Today, leaks are reporting some of the new tricks, which sound particularly silly. Stallion tweeted about it. He didn't tag anyone.

Out of nowhere, Tom Caleffi (gameplay producer) replied to him:

With the greatest respect, this is most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read on evo web and I hope that you’re joking.

If you think that a match on FIFA 21 represents a Bundelisga game in real life then I don’t know what to say.
I'm assuming this is meant to be ironic? What has the direction that the actual game has taken have anything to do with fifa 21? They have nothing in common.

The actual game is as complex as it's ever been, teams constantly trying to make space in midfield to create overloads, because teams defend as a single unit so well, drilling in automations, innovating with players positions, just to find some advantage on what has become the smallest pitch in the history of football, because players are so well drilled and so fit.

That's the actual direction the game is travelling in. It's the complete opposite of wherever fifa is going.
Haha, you lads obviously haven't ever watched a single crappy Bundesliga match.

yadayadayada
The key point is the title of that video: "Goals Worth Watching Again". Want me to show you the video called "Goals Not Worth Watching Again"? Spoiler alert, it's approximately 30 times longer.

I took the time to compose that post and discuss your point, and that's your response?

Any of those hundreds of "crappy goals" involve the thing I asked you to find for us? A player running through an empty field to score? Or did you not read up to that bit because you're too busy to read full sentences?

And you don't want to score good goals in FIFA? Only the crappy ones? What a bizarre stance to take, purely to prove your baseless point (that modern football doesn't involve a midfield).

I've tried to debate you nicely. Now I've got to tell you; you've been reported by several users in the past for your aggressive FIFA fanboyism, and we've let it slide. You aren't going to be around much longer with your attitude problem. Which will, at least, save you having to read all our boring posts.

My friend plays for over 35s.
They are usually running through an empty field. Plenty of 1v1's also, coz
others dont bother to run really..
Still - Fifa is not very realistic, as most of them are having a smoke while they play..

Zzzz.
You wouldn't know football from fifaism if it crept up and bit you in the arse.
You debated exactly the same a while back on Fifa ,"if you go to operation sports you won't see the same critisism...it's just you with your legacy defending in your Evo web bubble
etc etc etc etc"
Pretty much calling us idiot's for not knowing "how realistic and true FIFA is"
Guess what ,also a 7-8 year old member on OS.
The amount of criticism FIFA 21 gets there is exactly what it gets here.
Check the OS community sliders thread pal.

Ah you’re a FIFA fanboy? Not going to bother debating with you.

Have a nice weekend.

Defense in FIFA is a Big problem since many years.
Automatic befor, now it's 1 vs 1.
Attack and defense should be equal but it's not the case.
A deep rewriting of the code have to be done. I Hope FIFA 22 will be the first step in this direction.
I want faults, free kick, center on Ultimate and Legend.
I don't want a game who let me score easily.

The worst is that sometimes, FIFA 21 nextgen is very good. I have made this match on FUMA, Legend, sliders. I have lost the first match 1-0 versus Inter Milan. Big pression in Marseille!
Enjoy

I desperately want to see a difference between 21 next-gen and this clip of 22 next-gen, but I'm just not.

Considering the above comments are along the lines of "hmmm does it look better, I can't tell" - and considering Hypermotion(TM) is being held up as an incredible leap in technology that only next-gen consoles can handle, utilising "machine learning" to make the game look 10x more realistic...

I mean. Let's be blunt. If we're struggling to see the difference, the tech statement is absolute bollocks, isn't it? Surely? And it's the MAIN SELLING POINT of this year's game.

Would anyone (in any state of mind) mistake that clip for one from a real match, as can happen with PES 2021, a last-gen game (even if personally I don't think the gameplay is very good)?

I mean... Come on.

Look at the player that hits the very first pass in the clip. He then BOMBS forward at the speed of light, like a cartoon character - and, by the way, encounters ABSOLUTELY NO RESISTANCE as he travels from the half-way line to the box.

There's no midfield, and the defenders don't even turn around to look at him. They run away, like they're being chased by ghosts. Forget about any midfield battles in a FIFA game ever again.

Yet, despite the ridiculous speed of it, I've seen plenty of people on Twitter saying it looks too slow:

Again - these are the folks who EA are trying to impress. Not us.

If you replay the clip and focus on a different player each time, you'll see tons of moments where an animation literally doubles in speed for a split-second and then "smooths out" again. No sign of Hypermotion(TM). Only hyper motion.

Check out, from around 10secs, the white-shirted defender on the bottom of the screen (right half of the pitch). Watch his twitchy, Call of Duty-style strafing throughout the clip. I mean, what have they actually changed?

Once again, I've tried tweeting a gameplay producer but I don't know why.

Fucking CPU controlled defender backing off again just to create an attacking option for the attacking team.

I talked to the developers about the midfielders, but it looks like they didn't want to change anything in FIFA 21 at the midfield level. I don't know if they will fix it in FIFA 22, I hope so.
Sounds pretty much like a confirmation that they won't... Sigh. Thanks for trying.

It's one of the few realism-related things I've seen lots of people mentioning and/or complaining about on Twitter, too. If EA aren't interested despite that, then... Pretty much confirmation that the gameplay is made for eSport / FUT and we will never have a separate gameplay to that.

Not looking good. I still maintain our best chance for a way out of this is some kind of 'Assisted Defending' toggle on/off. Come on EA, at least give us that!

It's easy to forget the myriad of issues that have accumulated though and focus just on AI defending (biggest issue, no doubt). A passing system that actively avoids interceptions, passes and animations that defy logic, a retreating defensive line doing its best to cover attackers & create space for the team attacking, near complete absence of fouls/physical play, tactics, positioning and god knows what else.

Only thing with a chance of transforming this mess into a remotely engaging football game is a "sim" mode. EA fixing all these things in a single year is just a fantasy & can only result in FUT twitter getting off their chairs and paying them a visit with lit torches in hand, shouting "give us mr. realistic and nobody gets hurt". :P

Why would they , it's by design and the cash cow players like it . My choice of game Is FIFA 17 where no defenders sleep and AI is switched on. Even after giving 19 another go the first Goal I conceded was due to a midfielder standing still

If only the ball in 17 wasn't so tiny, I would be playing it now. Always felt a little bit more polished than 16 to me, and had slightly less occasions of my defensive midfielder ending up playing as Striker.
