I bought FIFA about - what? - 10 days ago.
Played a few games and never touched it again. Until yesterday.
Due to modding matters (new tools I had to test and beginning with my usual project), I played FIFA again. And started a new Career Mode as Man City (don't judge). Playing on Professional. Very slight tweaks done to Sliders (because I was using an external Gameplay mod along with the Career Mode fix mod).

First game was for the Community Shield against Liverpool. Tough as hell. Very tight game. Few scoring chances for both teams. Couldn't get past Van Dijk through the entire match. They scored right before the first half ended.
I scored the equaliser in the 88th minute. So.... penalties.
I won.

And yes... Liverpool played their best 11 players against me. Salah-Firmino-Mane were a threat. They felt like a threat every time they were on the ball. I really had to time my defensive moves right.

I enjoyed it far more than I did right after I bought it. But, now the game isn't vanilla anymore as I have 3 mods, including mine.
It still doesn't come close to the other game for me this year in terms of animations (never thought I'd say that) and the smoothness. But at least it's playable now.

The thing with FIFA for me is... I end up with a huge pain in my hands after playing it for a few hours. It's like I'm fighting against my own gamepad without being aware.

Ha ha,Same here,my 20+ games this week on FIFA 17 left me with an sore left thumb/wrist.

Very interesting.

I think a lot of my issues are because I play with poor teams, it's a different gameplay experience - in a bad way. I'm just fed up of every attack being a counter. No build-up play whatsoever. It's the same attack over and over again.

Is that how you feel too? Or have mods helped with this? Let me know...

Yes and no.
Hmmm, how do Liverpool play these type of games in real life?. Usually, counter-attack is their gameplay against the big teams. Specially when away from Anfield. That's their plan.
And even more so against City. They're not interested in building up play through combinations. They are intense and direct. And honestly, that's how they were against me yesterday. There were a few build up moments from the AI. Specially in the first match (oh! did I forget to mention that I had to replay the match because I actually lost 2-0 the first one? :EMB:) but I had to raise the Pass Error and First Touch Error slider for the CPU because they were passing the ball too fast and controlling it perfectly every time. That's why I played the same match again. They felt more human in the second one.

But I'll be able to give you a better answer after I play some more games this weekend.


Also bare in mind that I have no idea how the new dribbling works yet. So my abilities are very limited at the moment. I couldn't really make use of the great players I had at my disposal.

What is that video from though? Because one, you were talking about multiplayer and that's single player, and two, that looks to me like a pre-release build version of it.

All I can say is that I've now played about 75 matches of Rivals and I don't see this being OP whatsoever. I have no problems defending it myself, and don't find it especially overpowered when I try to use it.

And if it was truly OP, people would be talking about it but I've not heard a single complaint aside from your post. In fact, it seems the consensus so far is this is the first FIFA without a true exploit in multiplayer.
 
I played a few games yesterday online seasons and I quite enjoyed it even assisted. It's a bit arcadish and fast but enjoyable. In pes 6 which everyone loved tempo was also fast. Online friendlies is a bit better coz you can set to slow
 
I haven't played this game in over a week, nearly finished with all the stadium edits so really hope they send out the career mode patch by next week

So in summary:
Acceleration of the AI: 50 instead of 49 for the AI so that there is no longer this delay during long line races, even in slow speed
'Positioning Marking' IA: 50 instead of 57, in order to have more balance in the duels and that the pressing pressure starts from the passage of the median line according to the opposing strategies
Poor control: 51 to 53 for the user and 51 to 54 for the AI facing more errors.

For now, it gives consistent results: the teams do not play the same way and there is no goal ready.
I continue with my career to confirm.

I tried this but it doesn't fix the issue for me on slow. I find slow just completely ruins AI defenders, they become idiots, and I can't find a way around it.
 
The gameplay is the best it’s been for years but the best FIFA ever? I’m not sure yet.

Me and a friend played co-op seasons Thursday night and had a blast, it was so much fun.

Then we went back on Saturday night and, oh my god. We usually choose Spurs and we kept coming up v Barcelona for whatever reason. We kept meeting players that would do these tricks and we couldn’t get near them, we tried fouling, being aggressive, standing off - and they would just ‘warp’ past our players.

When your opponent’s play properly, this game is a joy. There’s so much depth to it and the pace is great this year. But when you get paired against a couple of kids that practice ‘skills’ all week, it shows it’s ugly side.
 
For me it's the best FIFA since many many years.
But career mode is broken and I can't do what I want to do

I've made a lot of matches and I really enjoy it.
Some much fun, good AI, Goalkeepers, good animations.
Ok skating is still there but overall it's very good

I prefer it to 19. Everyone did low driven (not as much as 18) but more goalkeepers save these shots more. The two new pass types (double tap pass or thru ball) mix things up a lot.

Defeats are caused by you making a mistake usually. My favourite but is when you dribble round the keeper which used to be almost impossible in 19.

There are so many times where I do something amazing but don’t get a goal at the end of the move so I don’t get a chance to record the moment.

Game is terrible if there is lag but then that would always be the case with a football game online

I find against people who abuse tricks, holding L2 and maintaining closeness to them just following their movement, move for move works a treat. I find tackling great on it too. I hold L2 to track their movement and when they go to take another touch, release L2 press and hold tackle which is square for me and I find I come away with it more often than not. Hope that helps. If help was even needed:
We play as Everton which gets you paired against good opposition with variety and I class them as a poor Napoli.
They’re good to play with.
 
Woah with the best FIFA ever shouts! For me it's the same 100mph ping pong fest it's been in the last few years, with predictable AI and idiotic CPU defending. Will only be going back if they iron out the CM bugs and headless chicken defenders.
