FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

Don't feed the troll guys, he can go to the comparison thread if he wants, but hopefully he'll put together a more intelligent statement there if he does.

Back on-topic...

My dream has always been a "playable" Football Manager given how serious their stats and their match-engine are. SWOS always felt like the closest thing to that, for me, and I don't know why... Perhaps it's just an age thing.

Placebo - when I got the FIFA survey I mentioned the other week, all the questions seemed to be themed around Ultimate Team and Manager Mode, and last year's announcements were along the same lines (Draft Mode for Ultimate Team, and Pre-Season Friendlies for Manager Mode). So it's definitely on their priority list, even though it isn't number one (because they don't make extra money from it, obviously).

I just hope it's a little more substantial this year...

(Maybe they need to add real transactions to Manager Mode - boost your bank balance by £1m per £1, maybe... Saying that, it's not the kids playing it, so they wouldn't make any money from it.)

Chris thanks for the info, good to hear they asked about the mode as well, to be honest the additions last year were pretty shit, pre-season tournaments was a ridiculous inclusion for lower league teams (as we both pointed out at the time), only top 6 teams play pre-season tournaments! The training stuff was quite hit and miss, fun in parts, tedious in others, the best improvement was probably that you could sign free transfers when the window was closed which was a pretty weak "best improvement", the transfer market was still terrible for example especially in terms of players transfer listed or releases on a free transfer.

sorry guys for my aggressive way of saying it, but i just meant it as an opinion, thx.btw, just bought fifa 16 and tweaked directly the sliders to matt10 sliders, i like how the ball feels free on the field, i directly noticed the shot variation which is more satisfying, i'm playing on world class but assisted since its my first few games with fifa, now gonna try to start a career with a lower team from epl or liga, and see how it goes with these sliders, by the way i wanted to ask are the sliders the ones under red and not green on the page, the ones edited by mat10? because i used those, anw any suggestion on the best camera to use ??

I had a quick friendly city v psg last night before the match kicked off on TV. It was brutal, I lost one nil but the AI, PSG picked up 4 yellow cards from seven fouls in the first half

basicly the reason i play THIS game is the shooting and passing variation in it.

back in the psx-ps2 days that was the main reason i choosed PES over FIFA because every match felt the different, every goal, every key pass/play aswell

I still don't feel that every match is different, even though I definitely do feel that almost every shot is (and some passes are).

It's a broken record now I know, but if they just built on 16 and made tactics work (which isn't easy), I'd be so happy.

I'm praying to the footballing gods that they don't just decide to make an arcade football game given the Metacritic.

Its how the engine is built how the players are designed on the pitch, u cant do anythinf abt that since the animations are there and we all know the animations, its how the base game is setup thats why u dont feel every match is different, but i can say that fifa is the fully developped game and worth buying since its the closest thing to a fully developped football game, just tweaking the sliders to make it play like pes, but still finding it hard on world class drawing 1_1 and 0_0s u have to work really hard to create a chance on goal..

Haven't played in ages, just came back after a few months. Went through the usual Origin updates and FIFA updates - what did they do?!

I'm getting hand balls like 6 times a match, and CPU is back to >90% pass accuracy. I just can't believe some at EA played this and was like "Yeah, seems legit if a Championship team has several midfielders with 100% pass accuracy across 90 minutes".

Had a particularly awesome 1-0 loss to a penalty where my full back handled it into my centre back who ALSO handled it - the FB wasn't even in the box!

I know I'll have to do a whole new set of sliders, but man, they really don't care about single player experience do they?!

use matt 10's final sliders, will fix your problems.

matt10s sliders are good, but the goalkeepers are still superhuman, they still catch these pile drivers from inside or just on the penalty box, which is totally unrealistic, if we could make them parry these into a corner or a throw in etc it would make the game perfect, but this superhuman keeper thing isnt helping, i take my time to find space make a good build up only to find my chance held after clearly what was a pile driver of a shot...the keepers still need work, in PES these shots are usually parried to the side or up above the crossbar with the keeper being down on bent knees and not standing up.

So drop the goalkeeping slider down significantly, I used 20 or so in the past and they regularly parried/punched shots and crosses in a realistic way.

Yep I don't have any issue on GK using 18 slider, I see more punches yet they are still capable. Saying that on default sliders I thought they were very good but they weren't super human. I'd much rather have the issue of them being very good with option of reducing capability than them being inept 95% of time and there's nothing you can do about it

Yep i agree with you guys, keepers are fine. Just reduce the sliders if you think differently.

Also, passing accuracy percentage seems to be the big stat that many base the game on. I personally ignore the stat as it wasnt there in the old days (not in PES5 anyway). I dont notice much difference in a game when a cpu team has 90% and in another game when a cpu team has 80%, they still make bad passes. Who knows whether these stats are correct anyway, i have had many games when i know i only had one shot on target but then the stats will say i had two. Or it gets to half time and i'm thinking crikey i didnt even have a shot but the stats will say i had one. ;)

Not a bad point that..I've had games of ai with 91% Pass accuracy but it certainly didn't feel like it

Still having a blast. Vanilla game with the latest Moddingway. It's good cause you get all the updated database stats without the gameplay patches.

Little annoyances like poor positioning from film backs etc but I've been trying out Tactical Defending and that seems to make my team defend better.

Probably the best footy game I've played, nostalgia tells me it's WE7I, but I'd imagine this has it beat easily.

I thought at first games didn't feel different, but the more you play different sides in career mode you notice a difference, Iv experienced playing sides that pressure u all over the pitch, or pressure u only in there half and then u have teams parking the bus, the bigger sides don't allow to create easy shots on goal or dribble and pass easy either but lesser teams allows u to do that and to me that's what happens in real football, still there's a lot of room for improvement, am also loving the fact that long range shots aren't easy to pull off with anyone, let alone create space for a shot, and also am noticing that magic thru ball can only be done with certain players as well as high thru balls, that's what old PES was about and has failed for quite some time now, I hope EA don't listen to the casuals and really focus on taking this game to another level again, been pretty impressed with it so far.

Do you play with sliders ? Last updated fifa ?

I've just started a career as sampdoria as I've never done a foreign career mode before..played one game and it was sublime..it felt slower and more technical compared to premier league. My opponents sat back it was almost impossible to break through. I had to go ultra attack to earn a 1-1 draw in the last 5 minutes after they had scored on the counter

EA could make an easy fix for passing accuracy in FIFA17; instead of re-coding the engine to make passing more realistic, they could just apply 0.8 coefficient to passing stats screen. No one would notice what they have actually done :D

Just scraped a 2-1 victory over Bologna 3 games in. Last 5 minutes I was holding the ball around the corner flag..was a real fist bump moment when the whistle went like the old ISS days..after the match I realised they were bottom of the table lol

i hadn't played fifa since nov/dec cos i couldnt stand the way the game was, but i put it on again last week cos i really needed a footy fix and before i played it i implemented matt 10's final sliders as well as all the updates and been loving it ever since, but i also play it on co-op camera which is one of the big reasons i enjoy it too cos i still dont like the player models from close up and how they move, but on co-op screen to me they move more natural its great :-)

yeah the Ai seems to change tactics on the fly iv noticed which is great, i had this one game where i was winning 2-0 and half time the cpu made an offensive sub by taking out a DM and bringing on a Striker was good to see, i hope they bring more variety in the next version
