FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

Is FIFA still riddled with terrible AI behavior? How about over the top throughball abuse or overpowered headers and bad defensive positioning?

I may still jump back in if it remedies its legacy issues.

if you wanna talk about headers its actually very difficult to score from headers in PES, u have to know when and how to excute it, otherwise in fifa every run down the flanks can end up with a player hitting header on target, which is abused if people start to find it easy to do.

In pure on field gameplay PES is hands down the better game especially what the animations offer lets keep shooting aside and fouls. how u create space in pes and how players move into position on the pitch its the better game, fifa is an all rounded game yes but pes has that feeling of build up play that u cant feel it in fifa.
I am currently enjoying the yairgameplay patch for the pc version so he made changes to the exe which made the game better with less cheating from cpu.

The gameplay is pes 16 is infuriating it's that bad (fundamentals missing) ..there are even avid pes fans gone back to 15/14 I've even read 13 being mentioned and they were shocking..if fifa 17 improves on this year I can see pes days numbered..which is not a good thing as it reduces competition

I dont think the ignite engine is something of a breakthrough at leasf the fox engine is ahead of ignite it is the other way around actually. Fifa is gonna stay the same game as it is since fifa 12 i would say.

I don't really know much about the differences in engines as i'm not a game developer. But in my working experience the software is only as good as the end user that is using it.

Sounded like a good game. FIFA really does know how to create a realistic atmosphere. During some games I leave the cut scenes playing as I think it adds so much to the game. To me now it is no more just about the cosmetics as it used to be in the past now it all adds to a fantastic game. From seeing players fouled and then getting up and having a go at the other player, to referee's booking players for not standing behind the white line. I really had to hold back from posting in the PES2016 thread because I didn't want to come across like a FIFA fanboy but I put PES2016 on for one game and I had to turn it off. It feels so arcadey now, yes it's end to end but every shot seems perfect or just wide even on full manual. The complete lack of fouls is a complete joke. It really feels like there is no substance.

Whereas FIFA 2016 with the right settings and on 15 minute halves is pure simulation football. You really have to work out openings to get that one chance. Even then the shot can go anywhere depending on the player, best foot, positioning, defenders positioning. But when you score it is fantastic!!!

I scored this with Vokes, as Wales manager...

http://youtu.be/35_NwhKnfxs

But sometimes I can take that shot and it will go well wide or across goal or anywhere. But he hit it perfectly. In PES as long as you aim it right it will go on target, but in FIFA you could aim it right but miss time it and shin it. Another goal I scored but I didn't record it was an effort from Ledley just inside the box, the wicked deflection off the defender took it past the keeper, in fact the deflections can take the ball anywhere. This game is so unpredictable each time. Just like old PES :D

My CM is pretty realistic to me apart from Leicester being at the bottom.

your spot on mate, agreed with everything you said

No matter what sorry but the feeling of build up play is unmatched in pes whatever fifa game is available that feel8ng u will never gt in fifa

That's your opinion. Not mine. Not everyone. In fact, i'm seeing a lot of people thinking the opposite. You're off-topic though, there is a pes thread and a fifa vs pes thread for that kind of comment. Even though i don't think it's necessary to raise your point again and again.

ignore the bug

These are some really nice goals and saves!

I´m having a question:
What especially makes the vanilla version so much better than the updated one, except for the pace?

Sounds dumb and maybe I should know. I played the demo, played the game since it came out and still playing it.

I probably just don´t play it frequently enough, so that I know.
I play it once in a while for a few matches, to come down after a hard day of work.
I had fun with the demo, had fun with version 1.0 and am still having fun with the actual version.

Playing on slow, professional and never changed the difficulty level yet.

I still see situations I haven´t seen before and I feel individuality on several players. I also never experienced that the AI plays the same way over and over again no matter what team I play against.

But if the vanilla version is really so much better than the topical one I´m tempted to do the same as gabe.
On the other hand...for what if I enjoy my CM still?

His flying header miss...I see a flying header so rarely...which is probably a good thing. Also that Inter, bar goal...I haven´t seen that for a long time.

i think its mainly the game pace. some say the first touch is also better and the defenders positioning aswell. but im not sure about those.

btw Guarin attempted 3 more shots from long distance at that game, i was also suprized by it.

A while ago, I did put together a video of the game with no update, and then with the update, against legendary AI (see spoiler below).

I remember being a bit disappointed that there wasn't as much of a difference as I thought there would be, but the AI are less direct without the patch, from what I can remember...

well i have different FIFA 16 folders in my Origin folder(the up to date version and the original game ), i have to just rename the actual one to "FIFA 16" to make it work

Sorry to bother you again, but do you use the same My Documents/FIFA 16 for both version or different ?

i dunno what do u mean, here it what my folder looks like

FIFA 16 -> the FIFA without day one patch
FIFA 16 original -> the most up to date version

I always rename the current folder to FIFA 16 to make Origin read it.

I wasn't talking about this one, but the one found in HardDisk:/Users/Username/My Documents/FIFA 16 but nevermind i made a copy for both version there too.

Still fifa 16 1.0 world class 10min slow full manual legacy defending sliders unedited, i continue my career as Chelsea. Getting a lot of different type of games, for sure the cpu doesnt play always the same. Great game. A few complaints though:

-Fatigue in career regenerates too quickly. No need to rotate squad.
-High pressure is difficult to apply in game. Cpu-controlled players are too passive even with pressure and agressiveness set to 100 in custom tactics.
-Goalkeeper too good to catch corners

Another problem/bug: I'm getting a lot of players with invisible head, for example 7-8 bournemouth players, do you know where this bug comes from ? (I have moddingway mod btw)

I got 2 bugs, both in my CM. I frequently check the EPL table as i am in the Championship. Leicester have been in the bottom 3 most of the season but one time i checked they were in the top 4. When i checked after my next game they were back in the bottom 3 again.

Then another one while i was playing as the Wales manager, QPR, my club team, had one game simmed and drew 1-1.

Yeh it's not so much weird ranking it's just that after about 10 games Leicester were in the bottom 3 then after 11 games in the top 4 then after 12 games bottom 3 again. :CONF:

They need to hire a career mode designer and football simulation engine programmer at the absolute minimum, or better still sign a deal with SI to merge Fifa and Football Manager!

This is my dream game. Football Manager and being able to play with the team. The day that happens, my productivity in any other aspect of my life will disappear.

All I would add are the PES cutscenes for the award ceremonies, it would be amazing for a player career. It would be so great to do a be a legend with football manager. Going through the youth teams and reserves, getting called up the national youth teams as well. Playing the u-21 euros, the Olympics or the u-20 world cup! Being in the sub bench and not seeing a minute, or just getting a few minutes in as a waste time option. Getting loaned out for development, becoming a club favorite over time, made captain by the manager and being in his favorite personnel so when he moves to a bigger club he tries to sign you. All the weekly, monthly and tournament awards. When you become captain, having team talks, or revolting against the manager. Demanding a transfer, and then the club denying it making you run out the contract. Being injured and having to play reserve games to get back fitness.
