FIFA 15 News & Discussion Thread

As I said a while back editing team stadium names is fucked on Xbox one PC and PS4 works in single game but doesn't work in career mode etc and I read that includes and edit mode functions including updates squads.

Temporary FIX: In career mode one can not use option of DOWNLOAD LATEST SQUADS (DLS), ONLY DEFAULT OR CUSTOMIZED SQUADS, then and only the the edit stadium names will appear in your career mode. For some reason choosing DLS option before starting career mode resets stadium names to default. EA glitch possibly.

My goodness....difference to games IMMEDIATELY. It became a challenge. This is the only thing I have set to manual as when I play games, I like it to replicate a real match and when I have manual passing on, its common for me to unable to find a 5 yard pass that a footballer should be able to do with ease. Especially as a D-Pad traditionalist.

You like to replicate a real football match with assisted passing on? Good on you as every time I have to play against it online (not often thank god), I despise the game. Everybody I've played has played at unrealistic passing speeds. It's a rubbish game. One touch passing all over the pitch at lightning speeds. I literally hate it. There's me slowing it down and having a touch and my opponent going off at 2800mph. Awful way to play the game. And nearly every idiot trying to take on all my players from kick off. Does my head in.

I get the comment about little passes going astray as even though I'm decent at manual passing, there are easy passes that shouldn't be given away but the flip side is its still me doing it though so I accept it and would much prefer to play it that way than with my eyes closed on assisted. There was actually a video online yesterday of somebody playing with a blindfold on and beating some lad. I've gone from one end of the pitch to the other with my eyes closed on loads of occasions. Absolutely pointless to me. Fortunately, manual players seem to have a different mindset on how to play the game (from my experiences) and rarely look for stupid exploits so I would recommend it every day of the week and personally find it a much better game of football. The more that try it the better for me as there will be even more online playing that way :)

Hi Guys,

Haven't posted in ages but I thought I would share my views to see if anyone thinks the same.

Initially when I started playing Fifa 15, I was bit disappointed. I only really like playing Single player mode and I adore hard and difficult AI. Not to sound arrogant but I consider myself a good fifa player, I am a division one champion and I won a lot of trophies on the career mode last year game on legendary.

So I was hoping for something really challenging.....like I said, initially I was disappointed. First game, Liverpool vs Everton, Legendary, Slow, 6 min halves. I won 3-0....Goals either game from lobbed through ball or pacey winger running down wing (that I don't mind too much). But the lobbed ball thing killed me. I was deeply upset. So I thought hey why not turn the through ball to manual, see how it goes.

There are some things I have a bad feeling about. I can see the individuality in players with high agility and balance (to me these are really important), but I am struggling to see it come into effect with passing. Example, I get the feeling if I swap the defender and the midfielder around, I can still pass really in a composed manner with the defender. Surely this shouldn't be the way?

I remember in Fifa 14 career mode, first thing I would do would buy a player called Marvel Wynne and Kim Jong Suk or something like that. There ratings were in the sixties, but there pace and acceleration way above 90's and I was able to handle every top striker on legendary mode. It really took me out of the realism and it got me questioning....Do stats matter in this game? the only stats I can ever feel that matter are the physical ones. I can never notice the other ones. Anyone feel the same?

I'm thinking of picking up pro evo when it comes out to see if stats matter in that game. I mean if anyone wants to have a go, pick a team with a really fast attacking player or two, and put them in defence. Play on Legendary (because I believe the AI is at its best there) and if you don't concede or even concede 1 goal...surely something isn't right with that picture.

If I was ever making a football game, I would have the players become completely useless at certain things when they enter different zones of the pitch i.e. a striker within 30 yards of his own goal having only the ability to dribble, run, pass, clear the ball...but being completely useless at defending and no hope of tackling or very little chance against an attacker.

If Fifa became a stat based football game, heavily stat based, I believe nothing could touch it.

Anyone have similar thoughts or totally disagree with me? be nice to converse :) Hope everyone is having fun.

Stats do count in PES and I honestly feel that EA have no idea about player individuality.

There is something odd about manual that makes short passes especially difficult. I'd say it was practically impossible to recreate a tiki-taka style with manual because of it.

I tend to think this is because it's actually quite hard to weight a short pass. Unless you're really being careful to apply the deftest of taps to the button, it tends to be a strong pass, and obviously at that point it's makes it much more likely you'll miss the pass. There simply isn't enough fidelity to specify between a two, five or ten yard pass with any consistency.

For a long time I've felt the easiest way to deal with this would be for EA to position the direct/through pass buttons as short/long grounded passes respectively when on full manual (they to a huge extent do the same thing right now). No doubt it causes some issues with how mixed settings would work, but it would for me solve one of the biggest issues with manual passing.

I hear you but I still prefer the shorter passes messing up a bit to the ridiculous one touch lightning fast passes on assisted. I do ok with it. Mess up at times but I can accept it compared to going back to the other rubbish.

Not everything is about Assisted vs Manual. If we could stop talking about one or other option being superior, and start talking about the issues with each and every option, we'd probably get somewhere.

This basically sums up online FIFA (with default settings):

It's a total goalfest. I don't place the blame on assisted passing but it certainly doesn't help.

Playing online, I feel like I'm the only person in the entire friggin world who doesn't:

* try to score straight from kickoff
* shoot long shots whenever I have the chance to exploit GK positioning
* spam long passes to my forward line, bypassing midfield play entirely
* attempt to sprint around opposition defense with wingers any chance possible
* play high pressure for 90 minutes

Those are the best strategies for winning multiplayer matches in FIFA 15 and you're fighting a massive uphill battle if you don't employ them and instead try to play realistic football.

And you might look at my results and conclude that I just need to get better at defending, and I certainly am not perfect in defense, but the reality is that I've yet to play a single person online who could defend competently in this game. So maybe I suck at defending but I'm certainly no worse than pretty much everyone I've come across in 10 seasons of play.

The worst part about it all for me is that an objective observer would say that I'm dominating the vast majority of my matches. 60% possession nearly every game, creating great chances, etc. I've lost count of the number of games I've played my opponent off the pitch only for him to tie or beat me with a stupid 50-yard long pass to Ronaldo or Bale who sprints on for a goal.

Might give manual another go but last time I tried to find a match I gave up after 15 minutes.

I love how often the response is that the problem is with me - the settings I use, the teams I choose, etc.

Seriously though, I actually play with a pretty wide variety of teams, and the game does play better with lesser quality teams but that's a pretty shitty solution.

I'm in DIV5 in fut, I yet to have those tactics issues ' high pressure ' don't last the whole game. I use the (R) stick flick to switch defenders quicker.

From my experience in every online football game I've played, there is a strong correlation between the people using the elite teams and those using exploits/cheap tactics.

Of course there are still problems with the game, but there are some steps that can be taken to minimise their impact and have a better experience. Not ideal, but that's the reality.

You're spot on, as usual. But if you want a more brain game, just try the manual settings. And try to find someone to play with the same setting assistance. Really, it's no more about the game: we know the flaws are there with no solution to fix them. It's now about your fun. And trust me, while the game remains the same, you'll have more fun.
I'm here if you want to try, just add me to PSN.

I am in awe of anyone really good at manual settings, especially shooting. That takes dedication.

Do you play with the D-PAD for manual or does it have to be the analogue stick?

I never play online but I can vouch fifa with friends while drinking is great lol .

Analogue stick. It really isn't that hard on manual. It's a lot less hectic. Shooting just needs slight moves of the stick as its a bit sensitive but you get used to it after a few games. Most people probably give up after only a few games. It really doesn't take that many to improve. Like I've said, I don't mind making mistakes or giving the ball away at times so not a big issue to me as I much prefer having more input into the game.

You would probably get better games with fewer goals and exploits if you didn't use 5* teams.

So the game pits you against teams matches to your team online? So if I pick Burnley ill only get put up against similar sides? No Barcelona or real for every opponent?

That's fantastic, I hate it when I pick a lower rated aide and then see my opponents are all 5 star sides.

Sold some old games and got Fifa15 again but on PS4 this time for Online manual seasons.
So if anyone want some manual games give me a shout on PSN.

Just had the most ridiculous game online, not because of passing or anything. It was a full manual game. It was just I literally couldn't do anything or get anything going. Every 50/50 ball went his way, every bounce and deflection went his way. Was weird. Also when I tapped pass it pinged a very hard long pass. Another time I held the long ball button for a while to do a long range pass and he just dinked a small ball up in the air. Bizarre.

It's been like this for years...

I lose my settings every now and then so check its a manual game before I start every time now.

Anyway, here's a nice goal line decision from last night
unynuge3.jpg

That's clearly not over the line. The blue bit had just disappeared but it stopped in the same place so the goal line decision system was all over the shop. I'm not saying it didn't go in before that as I'm not sure but where it pauses and shows the decision, it was way out! The highlight for it was missing from the list aswell. Strange.

I have no idea how you could play online with default settings and not come across those tactics. Everywhere you look online that discusses FIFA, from reddit, to operationsports, to the official forums, these issues are popular complaints.

If you honestly haven't come across these issues, then you must be the luckiest FIFA player alive. After 10 seasons of play, I could probably count on one hand the number of opponents who didn't use some combination of those exploits.

(Although to be fair, I don't blame the players, I blame the game. Why wouldn't you long pass it to a wide open winger/forward? Why wouldn't you utilize pace when the opportunity presents itself? I've been guilty of some of these exploits myself, either because you get caught up in being pissed at the other guy, or you just react to the opportunity too quickly to stop yourself.)

Regarding playing with lower rated teams online, any recommendations?

And so let me get this straight - if I choose, say, a 3.5 star team, is there still a chance I'll get paired with Real Madrid?

I played as ajax last night, 4 stars.

Matched against the following teams...

Real Valladolid
Boca
Napoli
Everton

Every time I play as man utd its vs barca, real, city etc.

These are manual seasons games on ps4.

I played as stoke last night and the were amazing on default tactics.

I usually don't have to wait too long for a game on manual.

I've had to wait ages for a manual game on Seasons lately :((. Can't even get one right now trying to play as Man Utd. Gutted. Might have to try semi assisted
