Fifa 13: Career Mode Discussions

Wow just seen a bug in my VP career im at fulham and out injured so im simming games just come to play Spurs i seen team sheet and wtf Dembele in goal. :OH:

So i have gone into team statistics as i know Lloris was injured and to my shock Spurs only keeper is Lloris wtf.

I can see it being tough to keep young prospects if you're playing a smaller team with a small budget. As soon as they develop significantly the players start demanding new contracts, which can get very expensive very quickly.

Finished my loan season at Port Vale from Arsenal. Was a lot of fun, I ended up being top scorer with 43 goals and I got 5 assists and even though it was what my target was for the season, it says I didn't reach my target on that front :(( but goals, average rating I got the target and I just missed out on goals to shot ratio.

It was a really close league, in January there was only 3 points between 1st and 6th so there was all to play for. I got to 1st a couple of times but the pressure got to me and I let a couple of games slip. But the last couple of months I was on fire and ended up winning the league by 11 points.

My Pro has gone upto 75 overall, but by looking at the achievements it is going to take a while for him to progress a lot more in the second season. I will aim for 80, but we will see.

Although I have gone back to Arsenal and my targets are really low, they only expect me to get 5 goals and 5 assists with an average rating of 6. But I suppose that is real as I only played in Leage 2 :))

I don't really want to go out on loan again, so hopefully they actually play me?

Anyway having fun :))

Yeah I know, I had a lot of shots :))

I got offered lots of loans in my second season, but I wanted to stay at Arsenal and try and get in the first team.

Did well in Friendlies but just lost 2-1 to QPR and 4-0 to chelsea in the first two league games, so this is going to be tough! Scored a goal on my debut though and we beat Sunderland 1-0 just now, so hopefully we do better.

Doing a career mode with AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie. Player growth in my squad going through the roof, but all other players in the league have yet to grow a single point... I guess you can call this a bug? I'm halfway through my first season now. I have not experienced any freezing or anything though, so I guess that's a good thing.

Just started my CM with Blackburn Rovers and I'm very impressed with the new interface and the transfers as so far no big names have moved however there has been speculation in the press, which is normal.

Only played the first friendly so far and I won 1-0 at home to Standard Liege thanks to a Dickson Etuhu goal. I've not really made any inroads into the transfers yet, however I am looking to offload Simon Vukcevic as I'm not a huge fan of him in real life. I'm hoping to bring in Jordi Gomez for £1.5 million and send them Vukcevic as part of the deal. Really looking forward to playing this again tomorrow after my lectures.

apart from sudden crash in the menu I didnt have any particulal problem.

everything works fine, just make sure to save your game alot =p

No we had it confirmed that CPU player growth is applied only at the start of each new season (or of course if you buy a player I guess). But there's definitely CPU player growth apparently.

Is it worth doing manager mode at moment with the problems?

When a 40 year old man is lying awake in bed at 7am wanting to get up to play Fifa CM I think it's safe to say it's worth it, bugs and all ;)

CPU growth is set at a fixed rate at the start of each seasons and User squad/youth growth is the only growth that is shown progressivly. But this also has a limit to how much someone can grow/improve. Also linked to potential/play time. However this growth is alot better then FIFA 12 with players less likely to hit 99 across all disciplines from what I can currently see.

Manager mode is completely worth it even though there are some strange and horrible issues currently which will be fixed on day 45 or possible day 90 patches. I would advise you to avoid using cloud saves as this has chucked up some horrible save curruption problems with alot of users. Hope this helps. Enjoy :)

No problem :)

I wasn't aware that cloud saving was bad, this is EA's official solution when people complain about their CM save freezing!

Cloud saving can cause save curruption due to server issues. There is problems where various users using cloud save from a few a locations or a fixed location have has whole saves become damaged. Only with Manager mode saves. This is already known by EA and due to be fixed in the rare occasions it is happening. Hence why i advise to save on more then one medium to be sure. :)

I'm upto November in my first season now and my only real gripe is the match scheduling. Far too many games just 2 days apart.

I seem to be playing 3 games over six days almost every week at the moment with the COC(k), League and Europa.

Just to balance that out with a positive, CPU teams defo play differently so I'm yet to taste even a smidgen of that groundhog day type feeling previous FIFAs have served up.

Once I've found the perfect blend of sliders then I'll be happy to say this is the best footy game I've played (I've been playing since 1983).

Anyone playing the pc version there is a mod coming out with licence names for champions league etc. Along with other things will be out soon on moddingway so look out for it people iv been testing it out.

Sounds like a lot of good and bad. Hopefully they'll fix the 'bad' and the little niggling annoying things and bugs with patches. Any patches planned for release soon?

p.s. What's Cloud Saving?

Day 45 patch and maybe a 90 day patch (standard for fifa console) i imagine pc will be the same.

Cloud saving is Xbox 360 way of storing your saves via an online storage. Like PS3 Plus (this is PS3 Plus power storage) option to have storage online. So that you can access your saves anywhere on any console via logging in and downloading them.

Oh ok, I don't do that anyway.

There will be a patch after 45 days of release?! That's a long f'n time!! Nothing earlier to fix all these bugs?

would you rather lots of fixes or one fix that fixes almost everything? this is the thing you need to think of. It’s a long time yeh, but it insures that any fix put in won’t have any or minimal knock on affects to the end user experience.

I see what you're saying and agree with that part.

But I'd rather not have to wait 45 days after release date to then properly play a bug-free game that I should have had in the first place. And chances are if a 2nd patch is needed after 90 days, then it's not even completely bug-free after the 45-day patch.

We paid for it 45 days earlier, so why not reap full rewards then or at least fairly soon after that? This is turning out like another Football Manager where the game is getting patched and fixed up months after it's actual release.

90% of games that are released will encounter issues in one form or another that requires a patch/fix, especially games with multi functional aspects where the dev team is spread across a vast amount of areas to develop on. So to you problem.....yes 45 is a while...and yes it’s a pain in the bum...however there are various other aspects to fifa you can play that can easily fill up the time between now and the patch.

Overall it’s a pain, but it’s better than no fix at all. Now that would be a rage rant. haha :)

How do we know we'll be waiting until 45 days? Considering the huge amount of bugs this time one would hope they'd get some fixes out ASAP.

Considering there's a very high chance that many, if not all of these bugs were known about after it went gold they should have been working on a patch for them already, Fifa10 was the last Fifa released with a staggering amount of bugs and they knew about them in QA testing they just didn't bother to fix them.

45 days is a standard length of time they are now giving themselves to fix issues as far as I know. It could be sooner. But time will tell.

As far as all of the bugs being known....it’s possible....but also its a bit hard to say that’s a true fact. As their test environment might not have picked them up. Unfortunately there is no way of confirming this as such :P. FIFA 10 ok was bad but FIFA 13 has had a lot of changes to a relatively new engine. Baring in mind that FIFA 12 implemented a completely new engine for additional upgrade for physics. Meaning lots of things have been focused on in terms of game-play improvement. So its simple to assume that possible some areas were "neglected". Also with the addition of new features in the game which have also possibly have had a knock on effect.

End of the day, you buy a game and you should expect a few issues. Granted there a lot in this title but also respect that it is still the best football simulation experience to date.
