Fifa 13: Career Mode Discussions

I had a repeat bug last night, pause the game (kids) then I can't unpause it. Ps3 still responds but game freezes, even if I wait for the controller to auto power off. Pathetic.

I wonder if I could get opinions from you kind people lol

Well I have picked up my Player Career Mode again and here's a quick recap...
I created myself(oddly no choice but as a 17 yr old lol cant remember that as that was 12 yrs ago for me,, anyway)
I was told by Liverpool FC that I was to go out on loan,
I had offers from Bradford City, Yeovil Town, Huddersfield Town and another I cannot quite remember then I decided to join Charlton Athletic.

My Contract with Charlton started at the start of Sept '12 and Charlton were sitting bottom of the Championship having played 5 games already and LOST all those games....GREAT!!
Nonetheless I continued and managed to help them all the way to top and ultimately win the league plus the FA & Capitol one Cups(raised diff level after)

Season 2 and I moved back to Liverpool FC
There I found they had Sold Luis Suarez and bought Leandro Daimao(damn every time I play with him on the field he is S*** lol worse than Ricardo Fuller of Charlton, he cannot find even an empty net lol
They also brought in a french striker called Kévin Gameiro from PSG.
Well atm it is Jan 2014 and I am top scorer(whoda thunkit)
in the previous month I thought I would request a loan move, as i wanted to stay a liverpool player but atm I am personally getting bored of the english leagues.

Now January 1st 2014 the transfer window opens( I thought I might get maybe some other english offers) BUT My first offer was from ......

FC PORTO!!!
Wow ok one of the world's top clubs send a loan offer(they are sitting 3rd in their league)

Now to the opinions!!!

Do I

A: Accept Offer and Move to Porto till end of season
OR
B: Decline And Hope for Another offer from another big Club maybe Bigger???

I am undecided on what to do lol

If it was IRL i would not hesitate: Porto is often a step up to bigger clubs. I don't know if CM follows this logi however...
But another advantage is the fact that you can play in the exotic Liga Sagres and can play CL football every year. I would do it...

I thought that myself, I actually held off and it seemed the porto offer disappeared. I then got offers from Derby County & Swansea City.

I now have got a offer from FC Barcelona!!!!!
They have even offered my player an increase in wages(I'm on £20,000 they offered £50,000)

^^^^^NOT A LOAN OFFER^^^^^
Damn I wanted a loan but they want 2 buy me lol

I get what your saying there, think if it were a loan move then I'd snap it up but I'll decline, I love liverpool. I partly want a break cos they keep subbing me for the worthless Daimao every game no matter how good i am playing.

Well I had transfer offers from Barcelona & Porto and Loan offers from Derby County, Swansea City, Crystal Palace, Reading, Bolton and finally Celtic. Sooooo I am still with Liverpool FC for the forseeable

Hello guys, I'm new here. First I want to apologize for my (maybe) bad English as I'm from Belgium.

Why did I come here? I found this thread, read a few pages and was thinking..I also want to tell my story to others. :SMUG:

Starting a career as a manager. Everything set, just as in Placebo's thread.

Other details:
Financial Strictness: Lenient (85%)
Currency: Sterling
Squads used: Download latest
European competion in 1st season: yes

Team:
:BSCARF: Rochdale AFC :BSCARF:
Why? They have 3 strikers which isn't that bad :P. They don't have the lowest budget, so there's room for progression, (I hope). I want to try to make a low team a big team.

League objective: High finish
Domestic cup: Reach the round of 32

So after a first look at my team I was extremely surprised that I have so many young players and almost no old ones. Main change in my squad is that I swapped the 37y old Adebola for the 25y old Grimes. And I swapped the 24y old Donnelly for the 22y old Curran because they have the same rating (+ Curran's weaker foot ability is 1 higher).

My first friendly match was against Sporting Lokeren from Belgium. It was quite a struggle to start with everything on manual but it felt real. I managed to get through the first half..at least, that was what I thought. They gave us 4 minutes of added time because a Lokeren player was injured. In those 4 minutes they managed to score twice. :( I was really disappointed as I defended well the whole first half. Although I never had a chance on goal myself. 2nd half I conceded another 3 goals. (In the 2nd half I had some chances as I switched the 3 options in the bottom of my message to "auto" and "on"). I guess this team isn't that bad, it was just me.

After the game I read my mails..my captain is injured for 3w with a sprained ankle. Could have been worse but I took him off the pitch in time. Also I signed a new player (23y old "Mossa" from Levante. Bought for 100k (250k worth)) and immediately swapped him for my 34y old LB McIntyre.

One question: Placebo, do you have manual on auto switching, auto switching move assistance and pass assistance? Because you said you have everything on manual in your thread. If so..then it's very hard to create an attack as the players aren't really running into the spaces.

Already thank you for reading and let me know what you think of it.
PS: you may correct any language errors. If you tell me, I know which errors I make and probably won't make them in the future. ;)

@ ^^^

2 belgium players who are worthy of playing in 5star teams and is damn cheap and low wage, comparatively higher with your club but will be head and shoulders above most players of the league and has incredible growth potential are:

Tshimanga (LB)
Ntambwe (CM)

and another player you would love to control is Svensson. Immense workrate

Nice to have another Belgian fan in here who supports the same team i do (Genk).
I'm currently having a carreer with Mainz.
After 14 matches i'm currently second behind Offenheim.

Saturday i had an absolute thrilling match against Werder Bremen. In the 89th minute Werder were still leading 1-0 and then i scored two goals. Both scored by a subsitute player.

Next match was against Borrussia Dortmund: a brilliant 3-3 match.

PS: IRL Genk were superb both against Sporting and Mons in their two last matches, but this is off-topic...

Started my mode again after I made some fuck ups.
A Madrid again and have brought Torres home.
Signed Tello from Barca (if you have £3m and want a young speedy winger then this is your man), Kaejer from Wolfsburg and Boetang from Bayern

Devastated after winning Crewe promotion while on loan from Liverpool (as Ngoo). 28 goals in the league, through to the semis of the FA then I got injured and missed the rest of the season. But worse still, that tw@ Rodgers wants me to go out on loan again :( I'm currently rejected all loan offers in the hope of getting a chance with Liverpool.

I've had around 14 million and 40 k in wages before I ended the season, some from selling players, some as a reward for cup runs and league position. Started a new season, got the email from the owners that my budget is 16m, 80k sharp. So basically my budget is only 2m and 40k, because that is the amount of funds they investted in this new season and they want me to win the League, domestic cup and Champions league. Find another fool Mr Owner man.

Funds gained by promotion, cups etc are poorly implemented in this game.
Oh and they should bring back getting money from tickets in home games, justifies playing on several fronts.

Thank you Placebo, the auto switching move assistance is (off, low, high)?

Yes Tshimanga is a really good player to have in your team. The other ones I don't know.

mjp, probably you will get a chance then ;) but you will be subbed between the 60-70th minute if you didn't make an assist or a goal by then.

Indeed "zlopasha", the funds are STILL poorly implemented..getting into the champions league groups..100k. Let's buy a 10M player with this money..ticket price doens't matter to me, never changed it anyway. I don't know but to me it looked as if it didn't change something if you put it on low/mid/high prices back then.

PS: Genk was brilliant against Mons but against Sporting they were good and bad together. They should learn to finish on that level. You won't get many chances against high clubs in the EL. But they fought well and came back.

That the one where they continue to move in the position they were moving when you switch to them? I used to have it on off but on a recommendation from here changed it to high and it seems to help :)

Yes it really does help :P if you put it off, your players won't be running into spaces that easily. Thanks for the fast reply ;)

The next 2 friendlies I simmed because I don't like to waste time on friendlies :P
Las Palmas 3 - 1 Rochdale
Rochdale 1 - 2 Terek Grozny

Loaned out for a whole season:
Edwards (GK) 21y - 51 AVG
Logan (ST) 17y - 49 AVG

I set up my scouting network. 3 agents, all 1 star on both experience and judgement. I don't have much money so I hope they can bring in some nice players which I can sell to make money.
2 English scouts and 1 Italian.
Setup:
English: England - Defensive minded - 6 months duration
Italian: Italy - Technicaly gifted - 6 months duration
English: Belgium - any - 3 months due to not enough money :(

First match of the season! Burton Albion - Rochdale
Around minute 55 they scored a goal on a corner. A pretty one. Afterwards we were unlucky..their attacker got into some shirtpulling with our defender. He lost the ball and they scored. We didn't get the foul. We were bad, but they weren't good either. They just had a bit more luck with the referee today. We lost, 2-0, we still have alot of work to do! But I saw some bright lights. Our LM Kennedy, I've seen him all over the pitch, he won almost all the duels he got into, a good and strong player. Mossa, our newest addition to the team played the full 90 minutes, he left a good first impression.

The second match is immediately a cup match! The Capital One Cup match at home against Oldham Athletic.
It started dramatically. In the 9th minute, after an attack from our side, we conceded a goal on the counter. In the 24th minute, almost the same scenario but not much of an attack, again that same good striker "Montano" took a shot, on the post, to the other post, in the goal. 0-2 after almost 25 minutes..
31st minute, we have a chance! Aaaaand it's gone. Grimes passed a through ball while he was being pulled. Curran ran after it but the referee decided to blow his wistle and we got the foul instead of a nice solo rush to the goalie. Two minutes later Grimes turned around his defender, came in front of the keeper and shot it in the far edge. 1-2, we are back in the game! Until the 70th minute nothing happened, but in the 73rd minute they dropped the ball in the box, Simpson put his head against it and it's again a goal. 1-3. I guess we'll lose this match because I have some trouble creating chances with manual controls. But I don't give up! Right after the 1-3 we had a massive chance. I blew it. I came face to face with the goalkeeper..I decided to pass it to the left because shooting on open goal is easier than beating a goalie 1-on-1. I failed to control the ball so we failed to score. We lost the game, 1-3. Byebye Capital One Cup.

Second league match against Cheltenham Town at home. They have 3 points and are standing in 3rd place after 1 match. This doesn't mean anything at the moment.

The first half didn't really show many goalscoring chances until the 44th minute. Throw-in for Mossa on the left side of the field. He threw it to Kennedy who kept it for a few seconds until Mossa started a sprint down the line. He recieved the ball, kept going until he was at the vertical line of the box. There he passed it between two players to Grant who passed it to Grimes. Grimes turned and shot from just out of the box and scored. Lovely to score goals like that, my shooting isn't that bad I guess..just creating chances is difficult with low players. Right before half time they had a chance, the ball was going for the top corner but it missed. 63rd minute, our goalie hesitated and we concede a goal. 1-1. 70th minute, Grimes misses from short distance, unbelievable. 81st minute, Grant doesn't get the ball past the goalkeeper. We are dominating them, it's just a matter of time before we can score. Soon it's time to bring in a fresh striker. 84th minute, Grants gets subbed and Donnelly joins the game. 90th minute, we are doing a fast counterattack, guessing this is our last chance. Watson gets a through ball and shoots it on the post, the ball gets back to Curran who has difficulties to control the ball, it flies up high, comes down and he hits it with his left foot. It was about to hit the post again but a defender put his foot against it. The ball rolls behind and we get a corner. C'mon let's score that goal and bring home victory! The corner didn't work out and the referee blows his whistle. 1-1. We had the chances but blew it with finishing. More luck next time? Let's hope so!

I rejected all loan offers (despite them being from such luminaries as Walsall and Stevenage).

I'm now playing the odd game for the first team (I'm actually quite impressed with how the CPU is rotating the squad).

I've now made a goal scoring debut for England and scored and assisted at The Bernabau.

Had transfer offers from Celtic and Dortmund in August and then Norwich in January. Will see how the last few months progress but I might move on in the summer to get games to bring me to the necessary level to play for a top side regularly.

(Stamina seems to be my main weakness).

I'm really enjoying playing as a single player, it's a true joy when I make an off the ball run to then receive a good pass and manage to finish it).

It's a shame that the patch notes from EA are always incomplete, one additional fix I noticed in the latest one is that when one of your players is the player of the week or in the team of the week it now becomes a news item in your club's news and brought to your attention, before the update it would only be a news item in one of the other panes and you miss it if you don't specifically go looking for it, obviously not a big thing but good that it's fixed.

Good call Placebo, I like that feature too. I wonder how many more incidental things like that there are that we're yet to notice.

Big shame there's no player's player of the month/year and supporters player of the month/year etc, little things like that would add a lot.

What i don't like (and it's only a minor issue) is the fact that players tell you they don't feel at home with their club. I think there is a certain randomness in it.

But in both my CM's in FIFA 13 i had it with a (foreign) player who is with the club for years now. In my Genk carreer it was South-African player Anele Ngonca, a player who is with the club since his 17 (he must be 24 or something). You don't start to feel homsick afer 7 years.

In my Mainz carreer, it was Ivanschitz who didn't felt at home. This is another player (an Austrian in Germany) who is with the club for years (i think).

Those think are not good for the immersion in otherwise veruy immersive game.

Yesterday i played another great match against Hannover 96.
My Mainz team played a home match but had a bit of a catastrophical start, Hannover had a 0-2 lead after barely 13 minutes. The rest of the first team Mainz build-up pression and in injury time Ivanschitz scored the equaliser after Hannover's GK had performed miracles for them.

In the second half i wanted to take the lead, but Hannover were suddenly the better team. They deservedly took a 2-3 lead in de 63th minute. Mainz equalized in the 72th minute and wanted to win. Subersub Malli scored the winner in injury time with a fantastic goal...i was ecstatic, glad that my kids already were in bed and didn't see my reaction...

Boys will be boys.
