Fifa 13: Career Mode Discussions

Oh I see, I have it on PS3 and Don't really play online myself. I concentrate on the CM and FUT modes and also I love keeping up with the challenges.

I have had no freezing problems at all and I am also on the 3rd season on CM.
My son plays online on his 360 alot and hasn't said about any problems with freezing himself.

It does have to be the best CM I have seen in years. I can't imagine them improving the CM much. If they do I'd expect it to be pretty amazing.
 
I'm 1,5 seasons in to my career mode with Arsenal and luckily I've only had two freezes so far. I had the transfer deadline sim bug as well, but I reloaded my save and it let me play the game before the deadline thing began, so could be worth reloading a few times if it happens.

First season went very well. I won the league and the league cup. Lost to Barcelona in the QF of the champions cup and was knocked out by Chelsea in the FA cup.

Transfers during the first season:

OUT: Arshavin, Squillaci.

IN: Eriksen, Kongolo, Batshuayi, Adryan, Lisandro Lopez.

Kongolo, Batshuayi and Adryan were players for the future with great potential. As of now (season 2), Kongolo is playing League cup games and when my regular CB's need a rest. Batshuayi is not doing so well and will probably be loaned out. Adryan was a rotation player during the first season and is now loaned out to gain experience. Arshavin went to Ajax in the deal for Eriksen. In the first season i sent Ramsey on loan to Benfica in january because he wasn't playing much and was "very unhappy".

Transfers second season:

OUT: Giroud, Bendtner, Park, Santos, Lisandro Lopez.

IN: Cavani, Lacina Traoré, Ibrahima Mbaye.

Giroud went to Anzhi as part of the deal for Traoré and Lopez to Napoli as part of the Cavani deal. Mbaye was bought for depth in defence. He is a great player with huge potential and when Gibbs got injured for 3 months at the start of the season he made the LB position his own. I have not yet decided who should be my number one LB.

I have really been forced to use the depth of my squad so far this season. Vermaelen was out for the first 3 months, Mertesacker for 2 months and as I wrote, Gibbs for 3. Just lost Wilshere for 4 months as well.

There are rumors surrounding Sagna and him beeing home sick, so if he goes come january a RB is my first priority. If not, I will look to bring in a new CM since Arteta is beginning to decrease in stats.

This season I've finally managed to defend better. Could barely keep a clean sheet during my first season and was defending like shit. This season so far I've played 15 league games and kept 7 clean sheets.
I have really found great joy in playing Fifa over the last couple of days. Playing fully manual really gives you so much freedom. Before I was too careful and didn't try the difficult passes and through balls, but when you do and you succeed it's great.

I'm really enjoying CM despite the occasional bug and glitch.

It seems like my only choice is to look at FIFA on PC - after my CM freezing 5 times tonight I'm over FIFA13 on my console (PS3). My issue is that I'm super busy so my time playing FIFA is a lot more precious compared to the old days when I could play whenever I liked. CM could have been so incredible but the freezing just destroys the experience. Who or where is the best place to unleash my disappointment on this game - who at EA is listening????

Afaik, update 3 is still not released for the consoles. It will probably fix some issues for ps3.
I'm sure ea knows about the problems (just check their forums) but they are probably working on fifa14 for next generation of consoles.
 
What is the most amount of passes you have put together which resulted in no loss of possession and ended in the back of the net??

Just for fun I started the 2nd half of Zenit st petersburg v Amkar Perm. Half time I was 4-0 up.

Straight from kick off I strung 29 passes together and scored.(4 min per half it showed passing from 45.00 to 55.16 lol

Usually after 10 or so passes playing in the BPL the opposing team starts attacking me but the russian league is weirdly different
 
Couple of things.
I think it is embarassing for a company the size of EA to be unable to fix proper patches on kits for teams that win promotion in Career mode for 6th year in a row on this generation of consoles.

Embarassing.

Also I think that it is as braindead as it gets for me to earn money via cups or whatever only to lose it when I enter the next season and be reset to the default budget. i can't save money for the next season so I just pour whatever I have left into contracts before the January transfer period ends.

Are you sure about that? I am 100% sure that in fifa12 your unspent budget from end of the season is transferred to the next season and added to new season budget.
 
I've not lost money, it just resets the budget bar to 80/40 I think it is and adds in the additional funds, I ended the season on around £7m and started on £15m/£70kpw.

Have you tried reloading a save from the previous season to see if you get your budget back?
 
I distinctly remember having 6-7 million remaining in my budget, entering the new season and having only what the mail from the owners stated as my budget and both my transfer and wage budget were a clear, round rumber (8m 1.5m I think).

If it's a bug I'm without a doubt the unluckiest Career mode player ever.
I'll pay close attention to it when I enter the new season in a few days and report back.

I doubt that any kit licensing agreement would allow EA to make those changes. I've done some licensing deals as an attorney and typically, the right's holders won't allow any alteration to their designs.
 
It doesn't alter the design, just changes the shoulder patch from the Championship one into the Premiership one for example. Those patches are not an integral part of the kit design, they are added according to the competition you're playing in.

They don't see it that way. The kit has to look the exact same. No changes. I'm not saying it makes sense, it's just the way it is.
 
Anyone help me please iv just reached level 26 so decided to start a new MC with leeds and buy the takeover.What i didnt realise tho is that i forgot to change the money to sterling and now iv wasted the takeover.Anyone know if i will be able to use it again at all.

Patches are never marketed with the kit, they're simply not the part of the design as you say.
They are part of the competition rules and are applied according to the competition played (Champions league, Europa league etc).

I don't believe it has anything to do with trademark legalities and everything to do with EA's complacency and plain lack of love for the product they're creating, lack of attention to detail and love for the labour that for instance oozes out of games like the 2K Sports basketball series.
 
Finally started a new CM with my hometown team Blackburn Rovers (again, after the first one froze and I couldn't advance) and have set up my squad in a 4-3-3 False 9 formation with the wingers brought closer to the CF. Also, I have set up a scout in England and have already seen 2 potentially good young prospects within the first scout report.

I prefer having a small squad so the first part of the transfer window was spent offloading players that I won't be needing as well as putting up for loan decent young players that aren't in my immediate plans, whilst seeking some young prospects to be used as part of the squad's rotation throughout the season. So here are the transfer dealings so far:

OUT:
Bradley Orr - £220,000 - Middlesborough
Bruno Ribiero - £170,000 - Middlesborough
Marcus Olsson - £575,000 - Nottingham Forest
Hugo Fernandes - Season Loan - Portsmouth

IN:
Jordan Veretout - £2,000,000 - FC Nantes (His bio said "Shows great potential" so figured he would be a good buy and he has great passing stats and technical ability, so should be ready to challenge for a first team place sooner rather than later)

Also, Carl Jenkinson is also potentially arriving at the club on a loan to buy deal from Arsenal, he is only 20 years old and better than my current right back, so he would slot nicely into my first team instantly.

I've only played the first 3 friendlies and cup game before the first league game so here are the results:

0-2 vs RCD Espanyol
1-1 vs Notts County
1-2 vs Kilmarnock
2-0 vs Tranmere

THe bonus is after the miserable pre-season where I only achieved a draw against Notts County, I managed to advance to the next round in the COC as I beat Tranmere, despite losing Nuno Gomez for 3 weeks as he was injured during the game vs Kilmarnock. My first league games are against Hull City and Burnley, so it's a very tough start but I'm looking forward to pasting the Clarets!

You can only use it once unless you buy it again a few levels up, i think level 32 or something
 
If you delete your personal settings does it affect what you've bought from the shop? Was wondering if it would reset if you delete it.
 
Just started a CM with A Madrid. Bought Fellaini and Baines from Everton.
Played 3 friendlies and lost 0-1 to Inter, drew 0-0 with Chievo and beat Udinese 4-2.
Now the hard work begins......
 
Yay, I made it into the premiership with Blackburn.

Sold Rhodes for £15m to PSG and picked up Wanyama and Thom Ince to strengthen my midfield and replaces Rhodes with Crouch.

My Mexico international career saw me lose in the Final of the CONCAF cup to Germany. It wasnt until after that I thought, hang on why am I playing in a CONCAF tourney where the group I was in had, Spain, Germany and Ivory Coast. I then played Holland in the semis.

Is CONCAF not an american region international tourney?

Got the contract screen freeze now, I traded Butland for another player but the game thinks he's still with me, keep getting news items that he's a contract rebel with us and won't sign a new contract etc etc because he was in contract negotiations before I got rid of him, now if I click on "contracts" the game and 360 lock up completely.

Well update2 didn't fix the cause but it fixed the effect, I can now view the contracts tab, and we can see why the game was freezing previously.
 
Just a little end of season update for Dortmund...

League
The title race almost went to the wire. Munich were 2 points ahead of Dortmund with one game left to decide it - Munich v Hamburg & Dortmund v Hannover. I'd been getting excited (well, for a computer game anyway!) thinking of what team I'd put out, only to find out that the Munich game was being played a day earlier than all other fixtures. Well played EA...
As they won the match they also won the league, so the season ended a little flat. Not that second place is a bad finish - the target was Champions League, so the board would be pleased.

International Job
Several offers came up during the season, but none really appealed (Egypt, Scotland, Venezeula). The US job was available late in the season, so opted for that. It also gave me a chance to scout a few US players for potential transfers :)

Cup Runs
The cup games didn't end well in either Europe or domestically.
Qualified for the knockout stage of the CL, and had Atletico. Both teams won their home tie 2-1, and after an exciting Extra Time (both sides hit the post) Dortmund ended up going out on penalties.
In the Deutsche Pokal, I opted to rest the big names for the league & CL, and got beaten by Hoffenheim in the quarter finals.

Transfer Activity
After the 2nd place finish, the board provided a budget of £62m & wages of £300k. Not bad.

Out:
- Sneijder. Real Madrid came knocking with £15m, and settled on £31m. Not bad seeing as he joined me 6 months earlier for £9m.
- Lewandowski. Didn't want to let him go, but Juventus were happy to pay out £27m. Munich also offered the same amount, but I refused to sell another player to a rival (seeing as they hardly used Reus after buying him)
- Blaszczykowski. Got the hump after losing his place to Holtby, so traded him in for the deal to bring in Honda.
- Several loanees, who didn't play enough to sign permanently.

Other clubs are sharking around Holtby & Zieler at the moment, but hoping to fend off any offers!

In:
- Honda, CSKA. £13m & Blaszczykowski
- Hulk, Porto. £22m. Yes I know, not too realistic, but I wanted a marquee signing to make up for losing Lewi & Sneijder.
- L.Traore, Anzhi. £17m. Needed to replace Lewi, and his height (6'8"!) should offer something different to Welliton's pace.
- A.Sava, free agent. Think he's a regen (only 18), but worth having as backup at least.
- M.Wynne, Colorado. £400k. After hearing good things on here about him he got a call up to my US squad. Not sure he's tall enough to play CB, but with Kouyate being lined up to be both CB and cover in DM, he'll have a chance to find out.
- L.Benito, FC Zurich. £3m. 21yo LB, stats have shot up so has gone from quick to 'king rapid. Will be backup/competition for Schmelzer

Season 2
New objectives are to win the league, Champions League, & Deutsche Pokal (league cup). Hence some big(ish) signings!
Pre-season is against Man Utd (pretending it was agreed in the deal for Kagawa!), Wigan & Norwich. So a good chance for new players to earn a first team place :)
