Cool, I thought that would be the one, it was the first I tried, but it didn't work. So I tried the other two just in case and they didn't work either.

Hopefully it will work now, cheers.

Update on my Blackburn Rovers CM:

I'm in mid November with my Blackburn side now and things have relatively improved since my last update. I now sit 3rd in the league after 18 games with a total of 33 points and a W-D-L record of 10-3-5. However, I have the weakest defence of anyone in the automatic and play off spots as I have leaked 23 already this season. On a better note my 'wonderkid' Edinho is still performing well with 10 goals in the league so far and 3rd in the top scorers.

However, I would argue that the best player for my team this year has been Jordi Gomez whom I signed from Wigan Athletic in the summer. Not only does he generally help to keep a grip on the game in terms of passing the ball quickly but he has also scored 8 goals (5th in top scorers) and has the most assists in the Championship with 7.

I believe the reason for my fortunes turning around since the last update is swapping to a flat 3-4-3 formation as since swapping to that I have only conceded 2 goals in the league and gained 4 consecutive victories propelling me from 7th to 3rd due to how tight the league is. The plan for the January transfer market is to bring in some youth. Players such as Givet and Pedersen are ageing and so I need to look at having a replacement ready and also just having promising players within the squad. Additionally, I only have Grant Hanley for cover at CB so another perhaps more experienced player is needed as well as solving my problem position of RM with either youth or high experience. With a budget of around £2,000,000 this should prove difficult.

Finally, I accepted my first international management job. I am now managing the Czech Republic and my first impressions of the squad is that is relatively good/solid with a few ageing talents i.e. Rosicky, Baros, Plasil. My first two fixtures in charge where 2 friendlies against Holland and unfortunately I lost both games 2-1, due to a late brace in the first game and a last minute winner from them in the second. On the upside, my team played very well and never looked overwhelmed and I'm sure I can get them into winning ways sooner rather than later.
I've taken up the reins at Blackburn too - enjoying it too, at end December in first season. Playing a 4-4-1-1 I've ditched Givet from starting - too slow for this game. Hanley comes on enough to be good at Championship level. He's playing LCB alongside Dann at RCB. Ollson at LB is now joint highest OVR (77) in my team and he back four's completed at RB by Lowe.

Still got Pederson and Vukcevic on the wings (backed up by Rochina). Thanks to some selling and use of FifaFanatic - I like to think of it as 5* Scouting - I've got some players of promise in Centre Mid. David Dunn please take a bow before leaving the stadium.

Up front Rhodes as ST (also up to 77) and Formica at CF are operating brilliantly. So we're top of the league at Christmas!

I'm liking the increase/decrease rates better than FIFA 12, it feels like improving players get a fairer representation. Overall CM's just that bit better, but the niggles are definitely there - seems like too much play in game slows down/stalls (I'm on PS3). Also had a sub come in a League Cup game and be literally invisible. Appeared on map, but not the game... Introduced in the 1st half of extra time - he stayed on the pitch til the end (and yes, no Penalty taker selection for me either) but he scored a decisive spot kick!

Hi, I have just started another CM as Tottenham after taking a little break from the game.
I have only played the pre season friendlies so far but I am enjoying the excitement on and off the pitch.

On the pitch we have drawn 2-2, 3-3, and won 3-2, can't remember the teams we played. Each game we conceded a 2 goal lead but the last game Bale scored in the 90th minute. I played Lloris in goal until the last 30mins of the third game when I brought Friedel on. He's first touch was a shot that went through his hands, a right blunder but it was funny to see him scrambling back to try to stop the ball from crossing the line, he failed.

The papers then said that after a nightmare pre season will he keep his place? I think not, though I would like him to beat his own record for consecutive EPL games.

I sold Gomes to Souhampton for about 4mil, not bad.
I bought a left back from Inter (can't remember his name as I am at work, I think he is Japanese) for 6mil. I bought him as back up for Akotto but, looking at the stats, he looks better. When I bought him papers said that it looks like Akotto's days are numbered, nice touch.

So excitement on and off the pitch, next up is Newcastle. Hopefully I will get to play it tonight.

On a side note, my game stutters quite badly when the games get to around the 60th minute. I play on pc, any ideas?

That is Nagatomo, you have bought. Really pacey and good ball control, and actually pretty strong despite him being Japanese ;)

So i've played a couple of games today and I must say that Nelson has turned into a tank!

I swear he has physically bulked up, he looks bigger on the pitch; i swear :CONFUSE:

I was really disappointed with my defending in the first game against Bury. I was up 2-0 for the majority of the first half, right up until they nicked a goal just before half time. I have never been more comfortable in a match before, I was in complete control. I ended up conceding in the second half too, but I was still dominant; I desperately need to stop giving teams cheap goals, it's killing me.

A similar story at home to Charlton: I think it was Sarmov who opened the scoring for us, then Benedetti scored another only seconds later to make it 2-0. I wasn't quite as dominant in this match but I was still able to control the game.

I bring Lecointe on for Benedetti with 5-10 minutes to go and he scores from a header which dips over the keeper. That's 3-0 and we're now up to the 90 minutes mark.

Next thing I know, the frickin' Charlton equivalent of Arnold Schwarzenegger charges into my box and latches onto a cross to make it 3-1. At this point i'm thinking 'Shame about the clean sheet, but 3-1's still a good result'.

THEN, suddenly they start charging at my players, giving them no time on the ball at all. My box is swarmed by Charlton dudes and their left back smashes in a deflected shot into the top corner, 3-2.

At this point the sweat is pouring down my face and my hands are shaking (metaphorically speaking), but mercifully the ref blows for full time and I reel in the 3 points.

I don't want to be put through this every game :CONFUSE:

I am currently top of the league with Arsenal after 15 games and just one loss. Playing fully manual on world class. One thing that's bugging me though is I'm conceding every single game. I have kept 1(!) clean sheet. How do you guys defend om this level?

Has manual shooting become easier? Scoring long range shots every other game.

I don't rate Rhodes at all, he's made 14 appearances and scored only 2 goals. Seeing as his OVR has increased to 76 I think I'm going to cash in on him in the transfer window for the £6 million he's worth and find a replacement for him. Probably also going to sell Murphy and Dunn before they decline too much as well.

I'm having way more fun with my 2nd Career mode - picked a random MLS team (San Jose 'quakes) and have been building them up mainly using a policy of youth first. It's excellent having to build your team around your one decent player, coupled with the utter fear of your CB's first touches...

Anyway, question on Youth Players - will they ever be able to play more than one position? I've brought a few through and they're always quite specific with regards to a position, for example, 'CDM' or 'LW'. Does anyone know what penalties they get if I stick the CDM in CM? Or switch the LW to the other flank?

Finally, they never develop traits or specialties do they?

They will be able to play other positions they might just not show that, two ways to find out other positions they can play, in the scout report of a young prospect in the news, or when you press Y/triangle to change your lineup by scrolling through alternatives for each position.

Traits I doubt but specialities aren't something that is developed, they're merely visual indicators that certain stat levels have been reached so yes of course they will show specialities once they reach them. Obvious one being strength which is shown for players with strength >88 or so.

What about Weak Foot accuracy and Star Skills?

Will a player with two star weak foot and 2 star skills develop them into the standard 3 stars later as he grows?

I have just been approached by Motherwell about their vacant manager job. They even offered me a wage of £14k/week, a huge increase on my current £4k deal with Plymouth.

Thanks but no thanks, Motherwell.

Ah, cool didn't know about either of those, thanks!

I'm also doing a Blackburn game and Rhodes has been fantastic for me. He's got 7 goals in all competitions and we're only in September. I really like Formica too.

I think I must just be cursed then, for some reason the only striker I'm having any success with is Edinho and he's got 13 goals in all competitions heading into the January transfer window. I agree with you on Formica though, he operates as the RM in my 3-4-3 and he's brilliant. I'd also recommend giving Jason Slew some playing time in the 2nd season when he returns from loan as he was a terrific impact player for me in Fifa 12.

Started my 2nd EPL season really well with wins against Birmingham and Wigan, couldn't continue that because my next league match was on transfer deadline day so of course it's simulated without letting me play it :( The "CPU" decided I lost to Liverpool 2-0 :(

Dear EA, please start testing your fucking games before you release them, cheers!

Haha, at least some of the bugs are amusing :SMUG:

I'm pretty sure I had the bug during the January window >.>

My pro has scored a hat trick in two consectutive games. 5-1 win at Everton and now in the first half v spurs.

Bugs show that putting an outfield player in goal is just wrong lol The commentators ripped bale to shreds!!!! He finished the match with his head down walking off lol he let in 7 goals. No doubt they will have a media piece about him after

Have a first leg against Real Madrid coming up, Champions Cup last sixteen. Just one problem though, the day after(!!!) I have a league game against Sunderland! I will have to rest my best players for that one and it could cost me the league title...

I'm disappointed to hear that. Was hoping you'd got them upon promotion to EPL.

I somewhat agree, but I don't think its totally out of this world. I'm 8 points clear at the top in the Championship so lets just imagine the players thought it'd be a safe bet signing for a team on super high wages that are pretty much garaunteed to be promoted (which will be the case)

I'd say its on par for Robinho signing for Man City when they got taken over :P

THE FANTASTIC FOUR

With the traditional season opener in the Pokal less than 24 hours away, Dresden completed the signature of their fourth new summer arrival, former Betis hitman Edu from Colorado Rapids. The Brazilian will team up with another 30 something striker in Melbourne Victory's Archie Thomson, as Coach Wagner aims to blend youth with considerable experience.

The other two new faces are a blend of graft and flair, as Al Ahly's Hossam Ghaly and Jeonbuk Hyundai's Chilean Hugo Droguett form a potentially quixotic quartet.

In order to balance the books the American let go of David Solga (Paderborn), Lars Jungnickel (Duisburg) and the lumbering unit Mickael Fort(Pescara).

Whats superb about this game is that I was looking at bringing in Piquionne from West Ham as a target man (who ultimately spurned my advances) so my 19 year old bean pole reserve striker started getting antsy, questioning whether he was in my plans for the coming season.

Also, I played 3 friendlies the last two of which I lost, but the first of which I drew 1-1 with a goal from Pote. I took the opportunity to big him up in the press today to keep his spirits up in the hope that my vote of confidence will help him find the net! Lovely stuff :)

Solga and a few others were the first batch on the chopping block when I took over Dresden in FIFA12 as well DB.

Fort, I kept as he offered something different to my other strikers and the only one capable of being a target man. He was a bench player for me but a good backup forward who can provide an option B.

As for Jungnickel, he's one of the longest serving members of the squad with a soon expiring contract and cheap wage, so I kept him around as a captain on the bench to help the youngsters. He's versatile as well capable of deputizing at full-back or DMF, so I'm a bit surprised you let him go.

For me the latter two were useful and provided depth to my squad.

If I may make a suggestion, check out Robert Teche from Hamburg and see if he's at all anything you need. He's a very good player for a 2. Bundesliga Team and available since he's a backup player at HSV. I got him for my side and he soon became the captain and star player forming an incredible partnership in the middle of the park along Greek Dresden star, Papadopolous.

I've tried playing a few games with "Ultra defensive", it seems to make a huge difference when it comes to the CPU attacking like crazy. You have more players taking part in the defense, yet they still make forward runs so you still create lots of chances. Just hammered Liverpool 5-0 and beat Spurs 2-1 in the COC final.
It's worth a try with ultra defensive if you're tired of the CPU running and turning all the time.

Dortmund update:

I finished the friendlies, and had an idea on where the team needed tweaking. However, on the eve of the first league game, Mats Hummels decided he wanted out of Dortmund. Uh-oh!
Both he & the board insisted that that the sale should happen ASAP, so reluctantly put him on the transfer list. I'm also going by the rule that if a big team comes in for a player I won't stand in the way, so already have a list of potential replacements (I do like a spreadsheet!)
Straight away both Real Madrid & Barcelona put in £16m bids. He was valued at £18m, so thought I'd be cheeky and counter offer £36m.
Madrid decided that was too much, but Barca accepted and paid up.

That gave me £30m to use on the squad (to add to the £500k left after buying the 2 Barca B attackers & Ogbonna), and 3 days of the transfer window left.
With 2 other young CBs also departing, Deadline Day was going to be busy!

Deadline Day:
With Hummels gone, Ogbonna became 1st choice to partner Subotic. I still had Varane loaned in from Madrid, but wanted 2 more CBs as I only had 3 left. Bids for Kirchhoff (promising German youngster from Mainz, £1.8m) & Kouyate (Anderlecht, can also play DM, £4.8m) were accepted.

Hannover bought Perisic for £8m, which went towards bringing in Schurrle from Leverkusen for £11m.

Backup striker Schieber couldn't hit a barn door in pre-season, so decided to bring in trusty Mbakogu (my FIFA12 discovery). Schieber can't be sold yet, and no-one wanted him on loan, so there's a bit of competition. A snip at £1.5m too.

To sum up, I started off with £500k in the bank ahead of deadline day; sold Hummels & Perisic, and spent £19m rebuilding the squad. Oh, and I now have £25m in case it's needed in the next transfer window.

The season has gone well so far. I've won the opening 2 games, so should be in good form ahead of the opening CL game (can't remember who is in the group at the moment).

Will report back over the weekend :)

Current Squad:
