Fifa 13: Career Mode Discussions

Jese on my Villarreal CM is developing really nicely, halfway through my second season, and he's currently rated 81, which means at least an increase of 10 in two seasons, he's also been my key player. Then the bastard broke my heart and demanded a transfer in the January window :( Thank Christ the board said it was up to me whether or not to sell him, so I left him out of the squad for all matches in January and refused all offers, and he ended up staying. Did get an offer from Real Madrid for €34 million (1 & 1/2 year after I bought him for €4.5 million).

For fun I started a Borussia Dortmund CM. Looking through the transfer market late in the window for young players I noticed Draxler, 18 years old 75 rated winger at Schalke. I only had around €7 million left to spend and he was valued at €5.5 million. I didn't think I'd be able to afford him, but just to see what they would potentially want I put in a mock bid of €6.5 million. Obviously they would not accept the bid, Draxler is one of their key players, an extremely promising midfielder, the teams crown jewel. And anyway, they would never sell him to their eternal rivals, Borussia Dortmund. Well, in a shocking twist they accepted the bid outright. I must say had had mixed emotions of both being happy and a bit disappointed.

Young players with high potential like the Ox and Sterling ect... seem to be very undervalued. While in 12 some players with very high potential would be too highly valued (there was an Italian GK who was rated 68 who cost around €12 million) now almost any mid table team in a big league with a decent budged can swoop up the best talent around and in 2-3 seasons have a squad rivaling the top teams.

Anyone with experience using a team from Creation Center in CM this year?

I'd like to make a team for CM but I don't want to if it's going to cause technical difficulties, slow down the game, or break my xbox.

Has anyone had what i have noticed??

I am a Liverpool Player
On Loan With Charlton Ath
Playing in the championship.

I go to look how liverpool are doing and it is saying played 2 pos 14th!!

EVERY other league is up to date!!! I am on Match Day 34 for Charlton and the Cup comps are up to date also. Spurs won Capitol 1 Cup and Charlton have Qpr in the 1/4 of the FA Cup.

Why can I not see the Up to date table for My Official Club not loaned???
I'm confused or has EA messed up another part?

I am guessing I am the only one then.......

How do you do this? sounds awesome just unfortunately not for a low league team as realism is reduced. I've never navigated to the catalogue before?

The catelogue's a new feature for the EA Sports FC bit so press x (for X-box)to bring it up and select the catalogue. There's a lot of different career mode things you can get like an international management offer from your managers country and unearthing an amazing player with the scout. Some of the features cost lots of the EA Sports credits though.

Decided to get to work with a different CM after getting bored at Fleetwood, taking the reigns of Blackpool in the Championship
My initial transfer targets focused on free agents Pedro Azagoue and Milo, and after securing the duo I set about selling deadwood and looking into young fresh faced replacements with my key philosophy aiming to build with youth.

Sterling rejected me because my league wasn't prestigious enough!
So with that in mind I pulled away from that bid and turned my attention to finding an attacking midfielder and may have found a true gem in Saúl from Atletico Madrid, however he had just joine the club so it would be impossible to sign him up, this hasn't deterred me however and I intend to go back in January to see if there is a chance.

Feyenoord drove a hard bargain for their LB Nieto, but I continued to haggle them. My bid of £250,000 was short off their £300,000 valuation, but enough to turn their hand, now waiting for the player to decid on his personal terms before the transfer is confirmed. More to follow on this story.

With only 3 registered centre backs at the club I turned my attention to bringing in a 4th, with several targets enquires about and none available it seemed a hopeless venture until Feyenoord returne their verdict on Kongolo their valuation of £1.4m was a little high for me originally, so my negotiations immediately pushed them down to £1.25m. More to Follow.

Now in my search for a CAM of the future my attention was turned to Nick Powell and Joel Valencia, Sir Alex Ferguson made it clear he would not discuss Powells availability as he had just joined club I ignored this however and immediately launched a loan with buy option of £1m to test the clubs resolve.
While my enquiry for Valencia told me a bid of £550,000 would be valid I decided to play on the safe side with a bid of £600,000 and am currently waiting on a response.

Amongst all my incoming negotiations the only player going out was 21 year old forwards Ecclestone who joined Coventry for the season.

So this is the opening transfer news, thanks for reading and a further update will be posted later as my phone has been killed by tho post ;)

You can loan a player who just signed permanently.

I had Kongolo on loan for my first season with Wednesday and he did very good for me.

In conclusion to my transfer business so far:

Pedro Azagoue in from Free Agents
Milo in from Free Agents
Nieto in for £250,000 from Feyenoord
Kongolo in for £1.25m from Feyenoord
Powell in on loan from Manchester United
Valencia in for £650,000 from Zaragoza
Lobantsev in for £800,000 + Halstead from Lokomotiv Moscow

Ecclestone out to Coventry on loan
Halstead out as part of the trade for Lobantsev

As I got a freeze in my first game of the season I've decided against playing a majority of my games, I don't want to have to keep quitting out.

Results so far:

Lost 3-0 to Huddersfield
Won 2-0 at Brighton
Lost 3-0 at Hull
Won 2-0 at Peterborough

Joel Valencia was amazing to play with when I got a chance, a real gem found I hope.

Also used one of these Scout Future players

Javier Rocha - Brazilian striker with 80-94 potential as it stands, will update on his final form later.

As a side note, any fix known for the freeze? I want to be able to play.

Can i just ask a question to anyone who has finished a season as a player in CM..

What happened when you went back to your parent club, were you asked to go out on loan again or are you now considered a first team player?

I'm only halfway through my first season but interested to know what happens.

I went to port vale on loan from Arsenal In the first season. Came back to arsenal and they wanted me to go out on loan again I kept rejecting them and near the end of the transfer period got offers from lessor prem clubs, I turned them down as I wanted to play for arsenal. Wenger put me in all of the friendlies and I did ok scoring two goals against PSG to draw 2-2.

He then played me in the first two games of the season, I scored a pen on my debut against QPR but they beat us 2-1 and then we got beaten 4-0 by Chelsea at home. I thought that was is it, but he played me in the next few and we did better.

I start nearly every game now and have about 8 goals in the prem in Jan at the moment, so not doing too badly and we are 4th in the league 4 points behind leaders Chelsea. I keep getting subbed though usually if I am doing good or bad. If bad get subbed just after half time, if good usually around 75th minute for Giroud or podolski.

I like that I get subbed :))

My player has also only raised 2points after going upto 75 in my first year. I play with the whole team as well.

Thanks for replying mate..

It sounds good that they still tried to loan you out but i like how you stood your ground :APPLAUD:

I too like how we can now be subbed even though it has only happened once with me and only through an injury..

Have yo ever started on the bench yet?

No i don't think you can start on the bench unfortunately.

I got called up to the England team though but they Theo Walcotted me and I didn't get a game. Then the next international break they played me against brazil and we drew 2-2 I didn't score but played really well but they dropped me for the Poland game.

It's good though it keeps you on your toes and is quite realistic, they were friendlies and they said they wanted to try out new people.

Just noticed that Joel Valencia has lost pace stats following a knee injury, while the rest of his stats have grown.. Could it be that injury finally effects players?

Or maybe because he is a CM it's taken a negative effect.. Either it's pleasing to know my players won't all get insanely quick.

Also the news have just suggested a list of midfielders for me after week of saying I should look into a new player! I like these features!

Big shame you can't start on the bench as i remember a Pro Evo game where you could do that and it kept it realistic but at least we can be subbed off which is better..

The international call ups sound exciting and realistic but it would be much better if it showed how many caps we had received too on our career screen.

Yes injured players lose some stats while injured which is good.

I think EA have fu*ked up mate as from what i am hearing everyone has the same problem which is very frustrating but seeing as it is EA it isn't at all surprising.

Thanks for that. Thought it was just me lol
I'll just see how Liverpool did at the end maybe, I have about 8 championship games left to play, Charlton have reached 1st place overtaking Wolves and A Semi Final FA Cup match against CHELSEA(I've knocked Newcastle and QPR out) Final is against either Man City or Swansea so not really looking forward to that if i make it.
My pro is now 73 rated overall. Started at 67 rated worth £625,000
now worth £5,000,000.
Made my England Debut with a Goal against Finland(Final Score 3-0_
My 2nd England match I scored a Hat Trick(straight away subbed???) against Czech Rep (Final Score 5-1)

I did notice that the manager doesn't seem to have much faith in the other Strikers/Forwards in the team as he sold 2 defenders and brought in 4 Strikers lol hmmm
Ricardo Fuller constantly gets slated for not scoring but thats probably my pro's fault as the top scorer(fuller has 5 goals all comps, i have 28 all comps)

Picked off Saul in January in a £800,000 + Ferguson deal, amazing considering they Ferguson intends to retire at the end of the year..
I'm not bothered he's an immense talent in my young team who sit 4th in the table after 34 games.

Also, I think the scouts are super powered! None of these players are set in stone but they've found for me (not including he unlock a scout a player:

Donaldson: 80-90 potential
Paul Fish: 80-94
Rory Pentney: 74-94
Ruben Vossen: 86-94
Ryan Batshuayi: 71-93
Ziguy Lazaar: 66-90

We finished the season in 4th place, and so arrived in the playoffs.. The semis ended in a 2-1 over two legs setting up a final with Blackburn.. In a game I didn't want to lose the first half passed by goalles.. Before a 71st minute Phillips volley got us into the prem!

Playing well in my second season with Arsenal (first season not out on loan)and in the January transfer window they want to sell me to every club that enquires :(( I've had PSG, Real Madrid and Valencia come in for me.....but I have rejected them all! I am going to show Arsenal they need me!

Why dont they want me?!

So I have a fixture on transfer deadline day to play Villa, it won't let me play the match, automatically just sims the game, did they even do any fucking QA? Disgraceful.

Well considering it broke 12's CM and 13's is the buggiest since 10 I wouldn't recommend it ;)

That's what I'm thinking but I really want to try it.

I've also had some issues where if you inquire about a player, the teams don't respond until after the transfer deadline day is over.

So my first premier league signings are set to be locked down in the dorm of:

(ST)Javier Rocha - Promoted from Youth - 67 overall - 16 years old (injured on debut 7 weeks)
(CB)Paul Fish - Promted from Youth- 69 overall - 16 years old
(CAM)Alex Maxwell - Signed from Frees - 63 overall - 17 years old
(GK)Danny Routledge - Signed from Frees - 67 overall - 17 years old (and 6ft 8 :O)
(ST)Angelo Henriques - Signed for £3.5m + Ecclestone from Manchester United - 72 overall - 19 years old
(ST) Arne Lardenoit - Promoted from Youth - 64 overall - 17 years old
(GK) Steve Hackett - Promoted from Youth - 63 overall - 17 years old
(RW) Suso - Signed from Liverpool for £1.8m - 71 overall - 19 years old

And that concludes my business, with my intentions focusing solely on loaning out the promoted youths and hope to god I can stay up :)

Just had this, bullshit! Lost 2-1 to Swansea after a good start to the season with 2 wins in 2 games and to add insult to injury; Saul is out for 4 months through injury!
Now face 2 straighthome visits from Manchester United (COC then league) with morale down a touch, something I believe does effect the players performance and some players out of form! Bollocks.

I really like the fact that players drift in and out of form, for the first half of my first season I had Podolski who just could not score no matter how easy the chance for 15 games and then he comes back with 4 goals in 2 games! Although it put me in a very bad situation it left me with little options up front so I had to resort to giroud who I'm not a fan of in game and even tried Tello who is 77 rated LW but it is very realistic which I like.

Yeah, it's nice now that Morale and Form are in the game, yet it's designed so poorly - I hate that you can't tell these things from Team Management setup before each match.

Essentially, you've got to navigate through various menus to figure this out, and then remember each players' form/morale for when you go back into Team Management.

I'm desperately hoping that they overhaul Team Management ASAP and that when they do, they more properly integrate the other features into it for CM, like Form and Morale.

But I do love that it's in now - I've got a young CM who was playing poorly, lost his place, and now I've played him some more and he's on a great streak. But then the bastard went and tore up his knee in training and is out for 2 months.

Yes, I think you're right. And I agree, I'd rather have a little faster growth than a little slower.

I should also have noted two things:

1) I've purposefully sought out players with high potentials (there are a couple websites that list this), so I sort of built my own monster;

2) Not all my players are growing equally fast - while I think the guys who've grown +3/+4 in only a couple months is too fast, some have hardly progressed at all.

Maybe, like you mentioned, some of the high potential guys are designed to progress rapidly so that they can contribute on the better teams. So when you bring them in to a lower rated squad, their rapid growth is more noticeable and unusual.

That's not necessarily a bad thing if it's one or two players, but if it's a bunch of them then it can turn your 1 star team into a 2 star team rather quickly, which is what's happened with me.

In the past I've always tried to seek out high potential growth players because it's one the best way to generate profits - and money is sorely lacking with the lesser clubs. But I guess this year you might need to be careful to balance out the desire for profits with preventing your club from becoming too good too quickly. That is if realism is your thing.

I'm not sure if it's only growth, or if form is playing a factor. Is does seem like players with higher form are gaining more points than others, even when playing time is relatively equal. Older players (Gerrard) are gaining points (and then losing them) and it seems like gains are made when on form, and the losses happen when form returns to normal. I'll try to pay more attention, as I think it's different from last year.

Also, I still haven't figured out the purpose of the "squad ranking" screen. I guess it's some sort of combination of overall score and form/morale?

Finally, mfmaxpower, you are certainly free to play whatever way you like, but I recommend for everyone to avoid going to websites that reveal a player's potential growth. For me, it makes career mode far less interesting when you "know" which players are going to turn out the best. Takes all the risk out of buying players, and all the player development strategy out of picking which youth players to play. Plus, once you know potentials, every CM becomes the same because you keep going after the same guaranteed talent. My advice is to keep the "fog of war" active, makes the game a little more interesting.
