Great. Have they ever released the stats from the games?
A while ago Rutter said MM is the most played mode in the game. It would be interesting to have a breakdown on what actually gets played during a year of gameplay and the trends going on (from 08-09-10-11-..).
Then it would be pretty easy to see who their core gamer actually is.
This can't be reiterated enough. EA just needs to grow some balls and have the current slow setting as the default "normal" speed. They're gonna have to do this sooner or later anyway, unless they're willing to risk giving more people the wrong impression that fast = realistic

I wonder if none of these videos are from the PC version. Because it's there to play and the PC producer wrote that he didn't think people realised it was the PC version because you can't see the cases.
I wish these super speedy videos that hasn't the Pro Passing marker is actually the PC version. Probably not, but one can dream.

Hjerpseths statistics arent that great, you can check his profile on EA Sports World. Tons of skill moves doesnt mean tons of wins. Whats wrong with it?
Thats not exactly true. Heikki has great realistic goals on manual and hes as famous as Hjerpseth
I don't agree with you about Keikki tbh. I pretty much agree with klash when he says manual doesn't make the game be a sim. Like he usually says, manual just makes an arcade game harder, nothing more than that, and I agree 100%.
You can make tha game "look" more sim with manual if you want (and that alone makes the game more fun and satisfying to play for most of us), but you must realize that all you have to do in Fifa (even with manual) is trying to attack quickly looking for your strikers and wingers (don't know if I spelt it right). There's no midfiled play in terms of passing (I mean, lateral passes/passing the ball around the midfiled), no need to work with the ball in possession patiently, and that is due to the crap Ai with bad defence reconvering (midfield tatical recover/ defenders dropping back) + the stupid idea from the ai to pressure and then run out of position, and also letting so many unmarked players. The result of all this: counter-attacks after counter attacks, and with assisted settings you just need to pass BLINDLY (180°passes included) forward with many 1-2s with just a tap on passing button.
To summerize all this stuff i've just said, fifa is all about counter attacks after counter attacks, and assisted (compared to manual) just give you the advantage to play blindly and incrible fast with just taps(0 user skills).

I agree with you, I hate the skilled dribbling move. So fake, it reminds me of the juke button on Madden - wrong football EA. It actually resembles a mixture of NHL and Madden. I've come to think of it as "the cheat move" and my theory is it's there to makeup for the overall poor dribbling mechanics, and although I've heard dribbling to be improved, I don't see it in the videos.
Also to compensate for poor dribbling, do EA purposefully give defenders the IQ of a retarded camel? Are they thinking that because of other failures, if defenders actually played how they should then the game would be too hard?
The best part of that video, IMO, was hearing the boos and whistles when CR7 lined up for the freekick. That's new isn't it?

Very good points, and your English is just fine. You're right, manual doesn't actually make the game play like a sim, at least not against the CPU. We shouldn't need to rely on switching the control scheme to make the game play more realistic - it's a bandaid approach, and a cheap bandaid at that.
Does anyone know if EA ever reads this forum? This is where the good stuff is at - posts today have been pure quality!

Can anyone see any difference from this and the other videos? All the graphics looks the same to me, unless I've overlooked something. The only thing I can see is that there is no Pro Passing marker and since we have seen other videos that didn't have that, maybe those were too the PC version? Not sure I buy that people go in to the options and disable it. The reason it would be important to know, is that the PC version is supposed to be much more like FIFA 10/WC than the console versions.
Edit: The scoreboard is different, so maybe that is how one can set them apart. I don't think any of the other videos had that scoreboard

GOD the speed. I want to barf over my monitor. I can't see myself playing this for a single minute. Even if this is on "Fast" game speed I can't believe why they would even allow their game to look like this. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Well, i wouldnt sumarize it like this. Yes, counter attacks are one of the good ways to score. But you also can build up play patiently. Of course, there are tons of people who only can pressure and ruin the game, but its still a game and some people will always find something which will piss you off and make the game look bad.
But overall a do think that FIFA 10 (online on manual, I dont play offline, because this mode is tragic in this game) is the most realistic football game ever made (even better than PES5/6, which were superb). Sure, there should be more individuality etc, but football as a whole was captured best in this game. But as I said, someone agrees, someone disagrees. Ten people, ten opinions

I agree. And even if Gary says the top speed is almost the same as FIFA 08, they still move very quickly all over the place with the ball. It's not really the top speed that is the problem, it is that you can just twist and turn without ever slowing down. It looks like there are two modes, standing still or flying quickly over the ground (I mean the foot planting has just disappeared since FIFA 08). And the animations speed up to fit the quick turns... just looks so unrealistic.

EA should really hurry up with some "official" gameplay videos, because this is getting ridiculous. We dont know what is switched on/off on these videos, we dont know if its PC or PS3, we dont know if its on fast or normal speed...

I agree 100%. No matter if you play in assisted, semi or manual, the game should require to play realistically to succeed (online and offline).
But we also have to keep in mind that manual is currently 0% atributes based and 100% user target skills based. I'm curious to see how 'atributes based' manual will be this time and if it will finally give huge advantages over assisted player (i doubt it tho).
All i want in fifa: no matter what settings you use, playing realistically with good criativity and impromptu is the best way to win online and offline + solid defence Ai + realistic physiscs.

It seems that the PC version is exactly like fifa 10 with bigger pitch.
And i also didn't notice much differences from this video compared to the others (except some good ball control animations for high skilled midfielders on consoles version)
Manual is not currently 0% attributes based.
As for the overriding point - manual does not make FIFA realistic. It does however tend to play more realistically, and, with all players playing FOOTBALL, playing on manual gives you the best game of football. What manual best represents as of now is a subset of the community in which more of the type of people I want to play against play. That isn't to say that there aren't people who are whores with manual - though it's harder to whore with manual - but it makes enough of a difference enough of the time to make the game tolerable.
The other thing it grants which the others don't have is unparalleled freedom. Played a game of Clubs yesterday when the team against us were bad enough to allow us to play good football against them, and was playing throughballs and long balls which just would not be possible from any level on assisted - and that's why I play manual.
Manual, on its own, is not anywhere near a solution to the problem of the game, however, the freedom it grants will be a good selling factor for FIFA in the future, because it will always grant a level of creativity that the lower settings will not.
Simply put, playing on manual (or even semi) instantly eliminates some of FIFA's problems - but not all of them. Manual is what makes FIFA tolerable on 1v1 for me - not what makes FIFA a good game - but it also does and will still offer something assisted doesn't when/if FIFA reaches maturity.
That Jeux video is gross - from the millisecond the game starts it just feels.. ugh. Where is the time on the ball. I'm really upset about this. I'm actually starting to mentalise the arguments/threads/posts already and I haven't even played it.

I mean, Messi does it later on in the video and I've actually seen him do something similar in real life, but in that case he taps it to the side and kind of hops over the tackle. It's obviously due to the dribbling mechanics in this game but I don't really enjoy seeing Kaka literally stop on a dime and glide off to the side.
He could use his left foot to push the ball across his body and get between them and chances are that the defender behind him would clip his trailing leg resulting in a foul. This way though, he just ghosts pasts two guys like he's got that kind of close quarters dribbling ability.
Even though I'm a fan of his, I have to say that it was pretty nice touch. At this point though, after not playing more than 6 combined days of FIFA 10, that I can no longer be pacified even for a moment by little things like that, and sock sizes, player faces, custom crowd chants, etc. I'd expect stuff like that to be in the game in addition to the proper gameplay fixes. Other games have had this sort of attention to detail for years now. I'm glad they're heading in that direction but for all the money that they make on these game, and the size of the teams, we should expect no less.
Was a nice touch though.

Yeah it is annoying, it's people like this and people tip toeing around them is the reason why they get away with things and why we have millions of videos with their mugs on it, because they think people like seeing them.
Like all of the promises last year and them failing to live up to them.
It seems like they might be heading down the same path again?
But I think we might be jumping to conclusions so far, we need to wait and see what happens next week with everyone trying it out.
If they fail on the pro passing, personality plus and other stuff, then it will be the biggest fuck up ever I think.
