Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

Fuckers! Confirmed, 2 minute halves, even though 1. it's supposed to be 3 minutes and 2. it says 3 minutes in the menu!

That really is mental.

Imagine if they actually claimed as part of their build up to the biggest title in their calendar that it would have an "Incredible 2 minute halves - that's 4 minutes in total. FOUR. You lucky fuckers."

Perhaps they'd tone down the latter synopsis. But even so, Christ.

It's nowhere near as fast as either. Maybe it depends on your tv bur on my 40 ". Samsung pace is perfect.

Placebo, any reply from EA on the demo halves cock up. That really fills me with confidence that fifa11 will have no major bugs in it.......not.

At least we don't have to sit through a fooking 7 min video at the end of each match!

Interesting because someone on the official forums yesterday said it was only 2 min halves - I guess on the EA replay page it says 2 min not 3 min halves - but then someone timed them and said no, they are 3 mins. Nice try Rutter!

Many of my games end in 0-0 draws so what I'm doing now is in the last couple minutes I'll pass back to my keeper and score an own goal - can't be bothered with any more shootouts!

Does it seem to exhibit the 'fundamentals of football?' :COAT:

Not much change on that end I'm afraid, though IMO it's the overly physical play that is making the game not resemble a real match.

First touch, passing accuracy, two-footedness, stamina, tackling, ball control and dribbling - these and others still remain unrealistic, to certain degrees, and aren't nearly as well done as in PES. Personality+ is without a doubt a positive improvement, but individuality still lags quite a bit behind PES. If you didn't like FIFA before there's nothing different in 11 to convert you.

Still, if you liked the WC game - I like it but hated FIFA 10 - I think you'll enjoy FIFA 11. The demo code is 6 weeks old, so with some minor tweaking FIFA 11 really could be a great game.

That said, I went back to the WC game last night and it is hard to notice any *big* improvements; in fact I kinda enjoy the WC game more, but I think that has to be because the demo is too physical and the halves are too damn short. I will say this, playing the WC game I cannot express how much I missed the new bouncing lob pass!

Is it me or are the new Fifa 11 EA forums complete and utter fucking dogshite? I can barely view the index, can't even reply to any threads

I've seen you mention this a couple times but I'm honestly having no (technical) problems. Sometimes it can be a little slow reloading after I post, but that's about it. Certainly nothing major for me.

Doesn't matter if I use Firefox, Opera, IE, nothing works, I've managed to log into my account by going through Ea.profile.com or whatever but the actual forums I'm lucky to load a thread but replying never works.

I call that tactics from EA. "Disencourage Placebo to post on the EA forums so when the game comes out in two weeks he won't be here posting every little thing wrong with the game..." :JAY:

I've got to say, outwith the flowing celebrations, this demo really isn't doing anything for me.
Maybe it's because I played lots of WC but it just doesn't feel much different.
It's still a major barge fest with turn over after turn over of possession and the goalkeepers still move instantly when a shot is hit at him.
I gave PES a try and it's like a breath of fresh air. Sure it's a little clunky and not as smooth as FIFA but you actually get time on the ball and you don't just run into the players to win the ball off them.
I've also seen lots of very realistic goals in PES (mostly against me) and the replays are just gorgeous.
I'm hoping the full release of FIFA is more enjoyable because I can't play 2 different footy games ("jack of all trades, master of none" and all that) At this point it looks like I'm heading back to Light Side....eek!

Anything to do with cookies?

Shouldn't be I have no settings to block cookies in any way and it shouldn't be the same in all three browsers :(

You could be right ;) I'll be blocked from posting on Twitter next ;)

Just had a couple of weird bugs.

I was jockeying, and another defender came and scythed down the forward, and I got the free kick!

My keeper was sent off (!) and the player who I moved to the GK position, then subbed off for my 2nd GK was actually in goal during the highlights that took place before the sending off.

I would show you, but whenever I try to upload a vid, it stops at 49% and won't do anything until I reset my PS3.

I had posted about the 2m halves somewhere in the forum before. You can confirm this by looking at the uploaded replay video's description on easportsfootball.

Edit:

Home Team FC Barcelona
Away Team Arsenal
Game Mode Play Now
Difficulty Amateur
Half Length 2
Home Team Rank 5
Away Team Rank 4
Location Santiago Bernabéu
Game Category Exhibition

Edit: Just noticed they have upgraded the whole FIFA site and stuff, and on the video descriptions we no longer have the Half Length info...

I know exactly what you mean, although I'll admit I had more fun with the FIFA demo yesterday than I had previously. PES plays a much prettier game of football to me - like you said, FIFA is a barge fest atm - but I'm still having issues getting over some of PES' shortcomings. I agree about it feeling a bit clunky but I wouldn't mention it on the other side of the forums - when I mentioned the "C" word there were quite a few responses about how unrealistic FIFA is! But wow, the dribbling, passing, and individuality in PES are fantastic!

It's too bad the PES demo isn't 6 week old code too because I really believe that both games aren't a handful of tweaks away from being great games.

Ok while this seems like a solid demo. Why and I hope this won't be the only kind of dribble or turn with resemblance to russian roulette that the cpu ai will use to get by you on a consistent basis to avoid been tackled.

Every player seem to be able to pull it off with ease so far.

mates, how easy is it to update the game with patches compared to pes?

both on ps3. i'm coming from the pc environment in pes the past few years so i'd just like a few inputs on patches on ps3 for fifa.

If you're talking about official patches from EA, then the answer is Microsoft limits them to two patches - or at least I believe that's how many there were last year. The size of the patches I'm not sure. However, this year FIFA has a new system in place which allows EA to tweak the game without an actual patch download. I don't really understand it myself or know for sure what exactly can and can't be tweaked, so maybe someone else can be more specific.

If you're talking about community patches, like with PES, then I'm afraid you're out of luck with FIFA.

Also, fyi, the demo code is 6 weeks old so the final release will be different, though we don't know how or how much different.

Yeah I noticed they are a bit sensitive to the "C" word over there.
What I'm really liking in PES is the shooting, especially first time shots. You can really smack the ball with some oomph and I don't think that the goal keepers are anywhere near as bad is being made out by some people.

But anyway, this being the FIFA forum, is it just me or do the goals seem very small?
