Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

Think that's just a side effect of the players being too big :P

You could be right actually but I think it's probably a bit of both.
Also, I reckon the camera angle when you are in the box possibly makes the goals in PES seem a lot bigger, whereas in FIFA the camera is almost side on to the goal which, i suppose, could also make them look smaller.
Either way they just don't look in proportion

Imo ure right about the camera angle issue... looks big enough for me in this camera:

But anyway, this being the FIFA forum, is it just me or do the goals seem very small?

Funny, I was just thinking the same exact thing.

I think they are too big too, this is why the pitch seems tight... :JAY:

Interesting because I've regularly posted and agreed with those who said that the pitches need to be bigger, but I guess the only thing that really matters is the ratio between player size and pitch size, right?

Whatever it is, the feeling of space in PES feels so much better, and I think this has such a massive trickle-down effect to other parts of the game.

Speaking of player size, is it more or do the player models in FIFA seem a little too thick - especially from the waist down? I find the players look much more realistic in PES and I'm not talking about animations or level of detail, just the form of the players.

Ok guys. I've tested something that people on the official forums posted and it works. Here are results of my tests. If you select "amateur" in the beginning screen of FIFA demo (where you pick experience, control scheme, and favorite team) and then you change the difficulty before the game in game settings, then my test shows 3 mins 2.3 seconds as a half length. However, if you start demo with "professional" or "world class" difficulty right from the beginning screen, then my test shows about 1 min 58.7 seconds per half. It must be a bug in the demo, one of many. But if you actually want to play 3 minute halfs, now you know what to do ;)

Weird. Worked for me though, so thanks :))

Since the demo came out I've not had a lot of time to play it (shift work and family life) but yesterday I was able to sit down with it and fir about 2 hours, gave it a good bash. Then after the porn I played the demo. ;)
I've struggled with it tbh but yesterday something seemed to click. I scored my first 'great goal', a first time left foot curler from just outside of the box, and also I scored a dipping screamer across the keeper into the corner with D Villa. 2 goals which I've not seen in previous FIFA games. Also I was really starting to get the feel of dribbling with skilled players in tight space. Pulled off an absolutely sweet drag back between 2 onrushing opponents and sprinted away. I think with more play it will click even more. my confidence in this game is growing. Thank god.

Ok...this is crazy but looks like the pace of all players is exactly the same!!!! Apparently it's only different if you use r2 for dribbling. Now try using the right stick to kick the ball ahead of the player. Every player be it messi or puyol will run at the same speed. F this... I tought I finally figured out how to be able to get that magic feeling when playing with messi and get away from the defenders but once I saw that almost every player can run at the same speed I felt terrible. It seemed like ea nailed the attributed based gameplay this year, but I guess not quite. However this is 5am here, so I might be just imagining things. Do you guys see the same thing happening? Pace with R2 is noticeably different from player to player and pace with right stick flick is the same?

Yea it is the exact same

That sounds horrible and retarded if true!!

I did a little test now. Puyol and Messi running across the pitch at full speed. While there might have been a slight difference in the amount of ground covered between the two I tried to keep it as consistent as possible. Looks like the difference between the two is about 1 second: Messi takes about 9 seconds, Puyol about 10. So that's a 10% difference in time. However their Speed and Accel ratings are: 89,95 vs 72,70. That's 20-30% difference. So looks like while there actually is a slight difference, it's not very significant.

you cant really do these tests accuratly by saying about 9 about 10!!

They must use a formula for the difference in speed and accel.

what do you think the difference in time would be in real life if messi and puyol raced acros the pitch in real life? 1 second difference sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Hi guys,

Do you think a triangular nets are useful?
I think it's a one big shit because I never sow fucking goals like that. Oh sorry I sow in the amateur league in the UK. They should add a nets style like that :

or like that (it's a typical for German Bundesliga stadiums - you can see that there - for example at Arena auf Schalke )

I brought it up elsewhere that if felt like all players had the same jog/dribbling speed and the only difference seemed to be with acceleration and sprint. I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about but I'm assuming it is. One thing I like in PES is how effective the skill players can be with just the left stick and I wonder if this issue is a reason why I don't like dribbling as much in FIFA.

Maybe FIFA needs a "quickness" attribute to account for how quick their default movement is?

Hmm I recall reading several demo impressions of how people liked being able to just rely on the left stick to out dribble an opponent, especially when controlling a skilled player who now have the added ability to hold onto the ball when pushed from the side (unlike previous games where dispossession is as simple as giving someone shove) and I can attest to this myself so I'm not sure where you're going wrong with that... *shrugs*

I agree, skilled dribble is definitely a big addition in fifa11. Just takes practice and discipline to keep off the sprint trigger.

'Agility' attribute.

My impression was agility had less to do with speed of normal movement and more to do with turning radius, ability to certain agile shots and passes, etc. Guess it could be same thing.

Didn't say I was having problems with it just that I like dribbling more in PES, and I'm by far not the first to observe this, though FIFA has improved.

Lol puyol is a slow cb and messi is a blooming atacking player. Should be 2 seconds faster at least

If they were running with the ball, difference should be huge. And Puyol should mistouch it now and then. We'll never see this in current-gen Fifas.

a football pitch is approx 46 mtrs across.

if the differnce between was your stated at least 2 seconds that would mean over a distance of 100 meters the gap would be 2seconds x 2.175 (46mtrs into 100)

the differnce would therefore be at least 4.35 seconds.

Now i would estimate Messi would Run the 100mtrs in a no quicker than 11 seconds as times run in the olympics by profesiopnal sprinters are run over 10 seconds.

Therefore is Messi ran at 11 seconds you would put puyol at around 15.35 seconds.

i think thats how it works out?!

Anyway im pretty sure my nan runs the hundred in about 16 so i'd say your talking rubbish personally

what U think about it?

Triangular nets are used a lot in south america....Imo it was one of the best additions in this years game, will give a hole diferent atmosphere when playing non european teams.

But i do agree that would be nice to also have the nets u mentioned.
