took of that passing power assistance since the 'pro passing' should show itself! also took off at hose other new assist things like R2 sprint , air bass etc..

I mean the game is clearly better but well, the video says it all!

- It's impossible to foul! You just hold X and sprint and auto tackle!

- AI defensively like in the video is still dreadful!

- CPU are just so easy to read. but thankfully do try skill moves

- Penalties are broken (AI scored 2 out of 10, hit the post ALL the TIME!!!)

- Personality? I didn't even look at team management or even know who i was controlling, didn't care, didn't need to :( It was so easy it was a joke really!

and that's about it.

Goodbye everyone, will i buy this game, doubt it! Maybe to play some manual online if i have enough money! but it's the same stuff :(

1-2s forward passes(including perfect first touchs, perfect 180 passes and passes in some weird angles), one on one and.. goal. That's what Fifa10 is all about.

Fifa 11 shouldn't be like this even with the user power bar option off (actually even with pro passing off, cause the Ai should be good enough to deal with it with some ease).

Very said, but predictable.

Klash, what's your thoughts about the pressure and the tackling ?

Is there any improvement on how you can hold the ball and keep possession with players like Iniesta against a stronger player ?
 
I find assisted boring.. Passes always go to the player, never out of place.. Semis not much better but I suck at manual & just get frustrated at it..

Exactly. The essence of the game remains the same, which is to say not an accurate representation of the real thing. Sadly the majority seem okay with this, if not preferring it this way altogether, judging from the reactions on the official forum.

Not really although there's certainly a difference with the new 360 Physicality or whatever it's called. Problem I find is that it's really erratic but that may change with more time with the game. Still, I'm really bothered by not having any greater sense of ball security when I'm playing with messi or iniesta - I still feel far too wary of getting pushed off the ball by bigger players where as you'd think those defenders should be more careful, worried the dribbler would blow by.

God i wish ea didn't insist on these stupid 3 min halves.
 
Downloaded the demo before work. I played one game and this is what I found. I played semi as an Experienced player so O dpn't know if that means the difficulty was on WC or Legendary. Lost 1-0 to Barca as Madrid and found myself while playing that I didn't even have to pay attention to the pass meter. I kid you not I never looked at the power bar once and I passed pretty well. I noticed a difference with the weighting of passes, but nothing significant. So I am sure after few I games I'll get the hang of it and be able to ping it around well enough like last year. Pro Passing as of now is alright.

Personality + I find to be a bit more apparent because I really felt that when dribbling with Ronaldo that I could glide past people. I nice touch during the game was a backheel by Ronaldo near the sideline with a manual through pass. I liked it because it felt that unlike last year where I had to aim perfectly behind my player to perform a back heel that now I could aim I'd say 25 degrees in one direction and pull of a backheel that is not a sent directly backwards. Other nice improvements is the responsiveness after doing tricks like a ball roll that I can quickly change directions.
 
Spent 4 hours downloading the demo, and somewhere in the last 10% it comes up that there was an error with the download, and I don't even get the option to continue from where it left off. Urge to kill rising...
 
I played about 12 matches all on legendary.. Leverkusan were actually probably my toughest opponents & barca from time to time.. Something that I hate with Fifa is the fact that most teams do feel & play the same apart from the odd player here & there.. It's a step up from last years game but a 3 min half isn't going to do the game any justice..
Seems to be some bugs in the demo aswell like the AI being shockingly bad with PKs & some wierd physics on the ball now & then.. Bit it's not a final build so hopefully will be ironed out..

I only play AI so I'll be testing out the defensive tactics tonight to see if they have sorted/improved them.
 
I have college in half an hour and then the rest of the day off so will be able to give this a good go then. Mixed reactions so far but that's to be expected with all those divided opinions on what pro passing should do, game speed etc.

I don't think they have. I played Lyon v Madrid and everything felt alright (though I didn't score) but then I played Barça v Juventus and Juve were just smashing me off the ball every chance they got.

I mean, a tiny change to CPU AI wasn't going to be felt and honestly I don't see much of a difference between this and FIFA 10.

Oh, and my fucking CBs still hold the line and follow the attackers! I'll see it and try desperately to select the guy and draw the dude offside and I swear the game is doing everything it can to stop me from selecting him. When I finally do, the moment I move forward, the guy with the ball makes the pass JUST in time to get his guy through on goal. The back four were sooooo spread out and one CB is always following the attacker making the run...only he's goalside EVERY SINGLE TIME.

If you're in a club with 10 guys and the defense is controlled, of course it won't be an issue. But really, how many full teams do you see in Clubs?

EA should flip the "on" switch. It doesn't do anything at all.
 
Yeah that's my worry. When I mean defensive tactics I want to be able to set teams up to park the bus and not see my defenders at the HWline after a small counter. Pisses me right off.
 
Off the top of my head after 7~8 matches:

Pros:

- Lobs don't seem to be as overpowered as they used to be.
- can shield the ball a lot better with some players (Diego, Iniesta, etc.)
- physicality was toned down a bit, you can still eradicate the ball with X/double pressure but it's a little harder and you'll end up in fouling the opponent more often than not
- loving the new tackling animations/options
- stamina plays now a bigger role, too bad you'll notice this only in the last 10 minutes of the match


Cons:

- long balls still feel semi-scripted (as in the CPU defenders will intercept them 98 times out of 100 no matter what, pisses me off to no end), besides, their trajectory is waaaay too looped and floaty to pose any real threat unless the defense gets caught out of position (wasn't there supposed to be a sort of "mid-height-bouncing-ball" pass? How do you do them?)
- player switching is still ass
- crossing and heading haven't changed one bit, same old scripted shit
- no way passing is 360°
- stats seem to do very little to passes on full-manual, so much for their "personality+" bullshit
- ball seems too floaty sometimes, was better in WC 2010 imho
- too many fucking fouls
- too many offsides even with standard tactics


Dunno:

- full Manual feels...too assisted and plain, even when you do underhit/overhit or simply completely misplace your pass the CPU controlled receiver will adjust his position in order to receive the ball, right before you gain control of him (I believe WC 2010 introduced this feature? With auto-switching It's like I'm playing SWOS lol)
- Semi-assisted + pro-passing or whatever on the other hand just feels random as fuck



All in all, very little has improved since the World Cup game, I doubt I'd buy this if it wasn't for TAMFA competitions cause it definitely ain't worth 59 Euro.

Let's see how Winning Eleven/PES 2011 fares now (downloading the demo off of the Japanese store as we speak).

Luckily for me Jimmy i dont follow the crowd :) Especially after the last three years of being told on demo day how amazing Pes is i mean you thought 10 was amazing as i recall and it was nothing of the sort.

I wont explode my pants just because Konami have finally made a playable game and Fifa have only tweaked a successful engine. I'll try both today.

Im still sticking to my opinion that because Pes has been so poor that it gives the impression of being the better game this year in peoples minds, and that the disappointment with Fifa is due to people being overly expectant of a mass of change to an already successful model.
