Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

No, it was Chris Davies I think. I only started this whole shebang around October last year when FIFA 10 wasn't what the playtesters had played.

No idea why Glen was banned. I think he remarked on Lami slapping down someone who said the dribbling in PES 2011 didn't look 360? I know it's a PES forum and Lami is generally a very good mod but he's very...hands-on about other people's opinions at times. That thread in general seems to give people a free ride to ridicule and humiliate people who criticise PES, and then when that person retaliates to a goading from a mod then he gets banned (or worse?).

Again, this is a great forum and the mods are only human but if discussion is only allowed to be pro PES or the banning tool is used as an ignore list then it gets a bit Orwellian/WENBish.

He deserved it. This forum is neither about me nor about him. I couldn't care less what he said to me, but I've seen enough of the same and I know what will happen later. This place is better off without the likes of him. Also, I do not understand why'd you bring this in here. This thread is to talk about Fifa, not about the mods. If you have a problem with us then please do that in the appropriate forum. Thanks.

EA really haven't done that much this year. I don't care what they say. Looking at the vid it's a marginal upgrade gameplaywise. EA deserve all this online backlash. I'm sure once we play it impressions will improve slightly but you can see that there are marginal GAMEPLAY changes. The problem for EA is the compeition improved their AI all over the place and it's now making EA's look ARCHAIC. Seriously. A lot of it has to do with switching player and the instant after the player is locked-on or left he will do something retarded instead of resuming a decent position. Part of the reason for the is the game is too fast. The AI barely has time to react to the rapid passing going on.

Shit, what happened to all your positivity man? You were convinced this game would kick ass.

Shame to see this really. People are really sticking the knife in here!

Gary wrote that a stamina video would be released in the next couple of days, if no licensing issues come up.

Did they explain what these licensing issues involved? When I hear that I think that it's something to do with the teams that may feature in the video but that can't be it.

Stamina system sounds just like NBA 2k's, which is a good thing. The only thing that I'm wondering is if depleting the short term gauge and continuing to hold turbo actually starts to eat away at the long term bar much more quickly than normal running would do over the course of the game as a penalty (this is how it's supposed to work in 2k10). Also wondering how quickly the short term bar fills up again.

Hopefully the lack of stamina near the end affects other attributes as well. Shouldn't be too hard to downgrade certain stats in-game.

No, but I guess it works just like in the movie industry. You can't use a trademarked product without proper permissions. EA got all licenses when the game launches of course, but perhaps until then they need to have some extra permissions (mostly shirt-sponsors I imagine, and I think even player faces are trademarked now). Dunno why they don't just use the creation center to create a custom team, and use that for the official videos...

Quite right Lami, this isnt the place to talk about this. I've asked SXFuzz to look at it.

I know, it's sad m8, but I can watch any of these vids and see blatant mistakes from the "AI" that were made in the previous year's game. No matter how you cut it, "Be-A-Keeper" and "creation Centre" are superfluous to what was really needed. Individuality (granted, that got a strong look @) and Offensive & Defensive AI. Career Mode is ultimately a regressed manger mode with "Be-A-Pro" wedged in.

That's how I feel from watching everything from Gamescom. The impressions have been positive but I feel that we're going to be getting FIFA10+ rather than a true sequel, and that's what grates. I don't want to amble toward the goal with all the predictability of a clairvoyant being forced to do so by brainless AI team mates. I don't want to be pressured all game in ALL quarters with attackers that have the tackle of Rio Ferdinand and the energy of Creatine mixed with Lucazade coursing their veins.

EA can't rest on their laurels. The same press licking their arse now will turn on them in a heartbeat if PES gains momentum and they're forced to actually write proper reviews about that series again. They have the BASE with FIFA10 (konami would kill for that engine.... the things they could do...!) and they're dicking around with fluff and seem to be reluctant to change the core of the game AI that much. I know I come across harsh but I'm all about deduction and I'm not liking what i'm deducing from the information I have.

And btw for the people who think I'm being harsh, the gameplay team have had a YEAR to tweak the game. A year. If switching player causes the AI to flid-out and not react to situations with any fluidity and realisation of danger then you have to ask, why? Also EA need to realise that IN REAL LIFE defenders ENTER A challange with trepedity. There's the danger of misjudging the line of the ball or missing the takle and in both cases getting skinned. Until this is a valid tactic we will ALWAYS have the same encounters with defending. That's just one of many aspects that EA clearly haven't touched this year and it saddens me.

Regarding the new stamina system, this was posted in the official forums:

I've played the demo version friday and then the (almost) final version saturday in EA Behind Close Doors at the GamesCom.

You can ask me question about gameplay, especially in Full Manual, cause I was only playing FUMA there.

We played something like 15 games in 2x7min with under 4 * teams only.

...but the stamina and fatigue is really important. I've never seen that before. The diffenrence between the beginning and the end of a match is huge. Even a bad player could make the difference if you use him for 15min. Very impressive.

GK are awesome, maybe too much ! Really hard to score in Full Manual, but people in Auto seemed to score goals after a while...

post of the year. thank you, sir.

I hope he's not BSing because I really like the sound of that. I just hope that it isn't overdone to the point that even if you don't mash on the turbo button your players are still dead by the end of the match. We go from never needing subs in FIFA 10, to everyone predictably bringing in that speedy super sub and him always having a huge impact at the end of matches.

Now if EA brought back ET and PKs in BAP Online Team Play, it would be even better.

Yeah, it's important that, if you use the sprint button sparing to preserve your players' energy (but also stat based), and are playing against a sprint whore, you are rewarded with increased energy at the end of the match to exploit his weary team.

I wouldn't put it past EA to have all 20 players get tired at exactly the same rate.

And I somehow doubt we'll ever be seeing a cpu team with tired players.

This for sure, I'll be asking this today...:P

are we impotent?

No need to bring Jay into this.......

But the question is more, were we ever that influential? If it happens two years in a row you know it's just trashy pr spiel, letting "insiders" and trusted forummers get the hype going by giving them early access only to piss it away for the casual market. It's clever marketing for a short while, 10 got them burned and if it turns out the same they will have a revolt (in sad online forum terms anyway).

I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised by today's outing.

Or at least I'm hoping they are. Too much negativity, and we all know a double negative is a positive. Or something.

For me it's rutter i just can't go on, the company flunkie who would same the same scripted crap if he was promoting a tennis game. I may be wrong but he looks like the kid in school who runs with his feet at 10 t0 2 & his arms flaying like they have been dead for a hour. He just sounds like he's full of shit to me.
