Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

Just saying this in case you don't know - you can still follow a person's feed on twitter without an account - just search for those usernames then it will refresh automatically.

you're welcome :-)

ah, I never knew that! :)) nice one

Just read the last two or three pages, is anything going on here apart from tearing apart tiny flicks of gameplay footage from gamescom? Seriously. I was there, I played both Fifa and Pes (so I did last year, as I live in Cologne and only play footy games) and when I saw some footage on Thursday evening I could not believe how even good cameras fail to convey any idea of the game speed for example (let alone the fact that the speed was set to fast in the first gamersyde video).

I mean, people would even film Fifa 10 footage (believe me, there was a lot.. Microsoft, some ESL clans, Sony), they all live-broadcasted Fifa 10 matches without further explanation, and people would record the matches with their handy cameras talking about how Fifa 11 looks so much like Fifa 10.

Feel free to ask me some gameplay related questions (I really don't care for menus, boots, faces, haircuts...), but as I see there's some kind of hands-on at Emirates today where more trustworthy folks of evoweb will be playing the game, so you might get better information today. Sorry for my english.

I guess it comes down to two gameplay related questions:
1. What have they fixed?
2. What haven't they fixed?

I'm there now. Dunno anything about NDA's. Rod, Nick, where are you? I'm the one in the checked shirt and brown brogues oozing sex appeal.

Ignoring the speed, How did the cameras affect the defending AI?

I mean, the speed is a worry but they may be able to change that post release anyway, there was a million other things still wrong with the game/AI on those videos, that no amount of camera excuses will solve.

I hope the demo on the floor was a different version than the 90% one behind closed doors because the one on the floor looked very underwhelming.

Every year speed is mentioned and every year we conclude the same thing; the true speed cannot easily be represented in amateur vids (I'm sure Placebo could give you the science bit).

1st tweet is in;

Dave: Gamespeed looks spot on, not sure what all the fuss has been about?

It's like watching a trailer of a film. Trailer might look crap but whole film is class. Without watching the film or playing the games yourself, it's best not to go off having a paddy really is it?

Its true, but every year Fifa is too fast too... I get to play it on Thursday in Manc but i bet its too fast. Maybe not as fast as some of these videos but still too much.

I'm convinced its why people think the pitch is too small.

I hope it's slower than 10 too but there has to be times when the games speeds up now and then as otherwise it would be zzzzzz. I only tend to play with like minded people over on AVF (can't get them on full manual yet but at least it's not assisted) so have pretty good games... most of the time.

I don't look into every little detail as I accept there will be issues but if they can get rid of some of the cheap exploits, have error in passing, get rid of the Moulin Rouge and Usain Bolt players in clubs, I'd be pretty happy for another year.

Would like to be able to play randoms but in it's current state it's pointless. Fingers crossed though...

Tbh I was never that bothered about the speed. Don't go online anyway. AI pressure is a far bigger issue imo (although that can be made less annoying with custom tactics). Animation speed was another big issue, Messi spun in a blink of an eye in the video's.

Hargh, it can be so frustrating not being able to judge it (to a certain degree) for ourselves with some lengthy, high-quality gameplay videos. Impressions have fluctuated from abundant positivity to a period of ultra lows, and it's now crawling back up.:ANX:

that's probably a good thing but it was never impossible to beat assisted users on semi (just harder) and i'm going to assume that Glen isn't trying to exploit the game like most assisted users do

still a win on semi against assisted is a positive sign

plus who cares about what anybody but evoweb users say anyway

As if more assurances are needed...

So much slower, not sure what the GC vids/players were doing????

Second press massively reduced as well

It really is good to know. Maybe the reason why EA weren't so keen on people filming away on the showfloor was due to some technical screw up in the demo build that they had, probably trying to rush a playable version of it that has the newly-implemented keeper controls. Only logical explanation I can think of, not that EA needed any.

Well, I did say people were getting their knickers in a twist, as is usually the case.

"It's only a game" after all.

Is it hell. It's the only game.

Some good info being Tweeted, thus far. Keep it coming. Looking forward to the Evo-webbers comments later on, though.
