Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

I hope the trophy celebration is a hell of lot more then just the lads standing/sitting on the centre circle again!!!

Anyone been watching the latest PES vids? The improvement in animations is really impressive. Looks like they are catching up, which will hopefully give EA the incentive to step up!

Controlling the goalie himself is probably easier than you imagine. To dive in a direction, simply flick the right stick. Diving is more about timing your flick properly than guessing the direction correctly. Regardless of which way you flick the stick, your goalie is going to dive in the direction of the ball. No matter if you have the diving assist turned to fully assisted, semi-assisted or off, you're still going to leap in the direction of the ball. Only your timing window is affected by tuning the option

 Oh dear.

Woah so the video's been pulled? Gamersyde said they're not supposed to film FIFA, the heck kind of shit is EA trying to pull off depriving us of gameplay videos?? Hope this nothing more than just a PR misunderstanding

Why are EA pulling vids? MMmm! That vid is up on you tube still anyway.

Impressions of that video are not great from me personally. Still looks ping pongy, still looks too fast and still looks like defence are too high and its easy too score 1v1's. I thought we was going to have midfield play this year.......not looking too great is it. They can have all the pretty stuff like animations, graphics etc etc nailed this year but if they cant get the fundamental flaws of the previous fifa games then its a big FAIL.

For the love of God EA, get rid of ASSISTED passing ince and for all.

And the PRESSURE

and the SPRINT FEST.

Well we know there's gonna be at least this much :/

Having seen it i can see why they haven't been keen to show things. The graphics look decent the animations pretty smooth but i didnt see much of the gameplay changes.

They'll be people who just say its only the video or the people playing are newbs but they said that last year and all that shit was still in the final version.

The problem is, its probably so far the development line that it'll be hard to voice opinions and have it changed.

everyone has said its too fast, loads said it last year too around demo time nothing changed. Same speed, same shit.

on a plus note PES looks to be improving, maybe not caught up yet but its close and a decent option this year...

Not seen any of the vids but will be really disappointed if Fifa 11 has not eradicated the major flaws of Fifa 10. If not I may just forget it this year.

The trophy looks off somehow, doesn't look like it's in the scene.

Do they actually lift it on the podium?

It literally looks like a video in fast forward. Really can't even express how flabberghasted I am. Waht the hell were EA thinking.

It didn't play that fast in Guildford - unless they've cranked it up a lot for the final build then I wouldn't worry.

Why the hell would it look like that though? I mean, it's like some kind of bad joke where they've put it onto fast just to be sadistic. It's like some kind of hilarious con where there are two fucking games. How is that video from the same game that was played at Vancouver, Guildford, and in the super blurry video. How are they even the same damned game?

First thing I thought was this cant be real. It just looks way too fast.

I'm willing to give EA the benefit of the doubt and at least wait until we've played it to make any conclusions.

But it will be sad if they let the 'hardcore' gamers out of their grasp, after spending so long bringing them in. It's a beautiful engine, but it seems like they're optimising it for the casual gamer. To be fair they've done that with Madden this year too, and I'm sure it'll help them make a lot more dosh. Which, in the end, is what it's about.

I guess we're somewhat lucky in the sense that Konami acknowledge they won't win the casual gamers, so at least try (albeit not so well lately) to make a game that is for 'us' the hardcore football gamers.

Trying to think about this from EA's point of view.

The point of releasing videos before release is to generate excitement and 'wow' potential buyers. But really, what would your average gamer glean from the difference between a gameplay video of FIFA 10 and a gameplay video of FIFA 11? For all the changes there may (or may not) be under the hood, it's going to look like basically the same game. People will generally glance at it and say 'yep, that's what FIFA looks like'.

If they were marketing some kind of fancy new third-person shooter extravaganza, where they want to show off their amazing ragdoll physics and freeze-ray gun, their (literally) ground-breaking deformable geometry technology and unique sci-fi world, it makes sense to churn out gameplay videos of some dramatic set-pieces from their game. And people go: 'wow, new and exciting, I want that'.

Everyone's seen FIFA 09 and 10, it's not new. A gameplay video of some standard FIFA 11 match footage isn't really going to sell the game, is it? The casual will go: 'yeah, looks like FIFA 10', and the hardcore will go: 'omg, it doesn't look as sim as I want it to be'. There's not much of a win there for EA. Especially if said gameplay clip is just played by randoms who are not specifically showing off what's different/good.

So instead we get the talking heads, we get Rutter with a hangover and Santi fresh from the catwalk describing to us what they've changed under the hood, talking us through what improvements they've made and making sure to emphasise new features like Creation Thingy and Be A Keeper, because new features make the headlines. And we get some fancy fake CGI trailer to catch the eye of the slack-jawed, because idiots have money too.

Then the demo date gets announced, which the dev team know full well is the only true way of getting people to see how good (hopefully) their new title is, and presumably - I speculate - some carefully selected gameplay footage will be held back until around the time of the demo. So when we inevitably pick holes in it, which is what we do, we'll at least go: well the demo's out in a mo, I'll try that...

What really hurts is that this is the first year I feel significantly invested in FIFA due to Clubs mode. If it plays like this on the 23rd I'm going to go ballistic, frankly.

@Dusse, this is all true - but there is a vast difficulty and that is that we have to play with these cunts. We actually have to play with them. 98% of the FIFA population is LIKE THIS. Whorish, cheating, exploitative players who have no idea what football is and most of them wouldn't care for it if they did.

The question is simply - if I play slow, realistic football, would I be able to beat someone playing like those on the video? I doubt it. The pace is ridiculous. Stamina/fatigue wise, 62 minutes in and the players are on about 70% white bar. Oh EA. It's only the fact that I've got an opportunity to play this game before the 16th of September which is stopping rampage. It looks better watching it at proper size.

Ever thought about that the game speed ist set to "fast" in the options?

I wouldn't judge the game speed before you played it yourself.

Not seen anything other than smudges on an iPhone YouTube stream but there's a lot of facepalming in the hidden EA forums. Very disheartening.

Still... That PES 2011 looks quite good doesn't it?

Shoot me now. Same game? Can't believe it is frankly. Having said that the first video really looks a lot better when i see it as big as it ought to be. small screens make the game look much faster;

Well, it's 90% complete, so I'm assuming the game and structure of is spot on as you see it. The final tweaks will no doubt be polishing.

What we can't guarantee is the game speed in clips, unless we actually see that they have it set to normal, slow or fast. Some of the clips look like they've been speeded up or lost in translation/convertion, whereas the one I've just linked above looks much better.

People playing the game make it look like shit, same on the PES vids. Nobody tries to build up an attack, but then again you dont need to on either game when the controls are assisted.

The game will be fine playing manual v manual as you can replicate real life football with all varieties of attacks and moves and types of pass, as appose to this boring shitty pass forward every chance you get shit

Interested to see what people think of this by comparison and why it's slower.

True dat.

It is much slower paced than the other videos. Same shitty human players, though. It would actually be nice to see AI vs AI for a change, just to show off a little bit of that rather than rushed attacks and ping pong nothingness.
