FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

Manual is the only option. Once you "get it" there is no other way ever for a football game to be played.

You put the ball exactly where you think is best not the CPU doing it for you.

And yes as you play the ball into unscripted new places if you like, you see new defelctions, shot animations, curl, spin etc.

Its like a whole new game!

I'm going to give full manual a proper go this year. I'd like to practice with the demo but the halves just aren't long enough :(

what a quality finish and late goal as well ! although I must admit that the goalkeeper doesn't look good over there :p

DagsJT: yeah me too, did try it last year though in manager mode with AS Roma, ended up 19th :( my biggest problem is to score on manual. the ball always ends up far away from goal. while if I just put the stick into the center, it's always an easy catch for the keeper :(

Hmmmm Ronaldinho against Enlgand... Over Seamens head... Its almost identical

now you come to mention it, it does look a lot like that. when was that, world cup 2002 right?

Any tips for manual crossing guys?

Seems very difficult this year

yeah would like some advise too. playing everything manual at the moment. very hard time scoring (check my previous post) and crossing too. passing is better since last year but still having some passes way of while I am pointing correctly :(

world cup 200 is like what PES 10 plays like if there indeed was a game version of a world cup played in 200 AD.

If that makes sense.

(It was Japan WC 2002)

Damn you with the edit!!!

For crossing, if possible slow up first... Running onto a pass full tilt and first time crossing seems to send it out of play...

As for doing the running/first time ones i try and mentally aim for the edge of the box... they then seem to aim straight... Also dont bother witht these if its your players weak foot... Henry left footed just cant do a first time cross into the right area... i nearly always cut back...

And we have a winner ladies and gentlemen! This is without a doubt the dumbest post I've ever read in my 8 years here at Evo-Web.

I had posted earlier it was the dumbest post in my 2 years at evo web....dunno what's in that man's mind, but it must be something pretty strong to have that deep effect...

It is steep. It will take you a long time.

Go on semi first of all and get used to that, it is more forgiving.

Then go onto Fully Manual.

Manual is hard, it is frustrating. But If you stick with it, you won't regret it.

I am still shit at shooting with fully manual, but I am getting there.

Passing is the thing you will love most once you get used to manual.

I'll give it a try when I get home. The thing I'm worried about though is lack of goals. I can handle not scoring every now and then, but not every game.;) I better be able to put some balls in the back of the net.

Unless you are a natural, it will take you some time :DD just to warn you.

I think what he's trying to get at is that with manual passing, the ball goes exactly where you want it to go. So if you as a player mastered the skill and were able to pin point perfect passes with the analogue stick, how would your passing whilst controlling Xabi Alonso be any different from passing whilst controlling John O'Shea?

Nah...he is not so articulated for such an observation.....

OFFICIAL: Dutch international team is licensed with correct kits/names etc. in FIFA 10!

Link to the article

Short translation:

Finally we can play with Oranje in FIFA 10. The team will be fully licensed and now you can play with the real guys instead of Ronhaar and Neutenboom. The last time we could play with Oranje was in the 2006 FIFA World Cup game.

Anyway, I'll be banned again in the next hour because even though the admin (Tom) hasn't played PES in 2 years and probably agrees with everything I say he doesn't have the backbone to allow me to post.

Adam or DJDoc?

It doesn't though, if the player you're using has 99/99 for long/short passing and you aimed your pass perfectly it will go there most of the time, reduce that to someone like O'Shea who has (I'm guessing) say 64 long passing and 72 short passing, the chances of the manual pass going exactly where you want are down to 6-7/10 times (guessing again but you get my drift).

What is the learning curve for manual? How many games will it take before I get the hang of it? Leaning towards PES 2010 right now, but that could change, esp if manual is what ppl are saying it is.

IMO the best thing to do is take baby steps, learn manual for only one of the things at a time, in this order:

Throughballs
Short passing
Long passing
Crossing
Shooting

Leave shooting on Semi the longest as it's the most frustrating thing for new people to manual controls IMO.

TBH I'd say that learning manual crossing is the hardest thing out of all of them, manual shooting is pretty easy TBH, always aim for the goalkeeper, 99/100 your aim with the controller will be ever so slightly off so you're actually aiming your shot slightly to either side of the keeper which is almost perfect and what they try to do in real life.

Manual throughballs is the best one to master first as it's hugely effective and you can use it to supplement your short passing game.

That's great, would always scroll through looking for Netherlands in Fifa 09, only to realise it's not the real team.

Used to be a team I'd use a lot in tournaments also.

Thx for the info Placebo. I'm going to have to play 09' since I can set the match length to whatever I want. I'll need a lot more time then what the demo gives me. Seems like they fixed the speed of players in Fifa 10'. Way too fast. In 10' Messi is no longer a 100m dash sprint champion that can race down the wing and score at will. That was my biggest gripe with 09'. However, it seems like they increased the speed at which the ball travels. The biggest problem I have w/ Fifa 10 is the size of the pitch. Its just too small for my liking, and makes play/challenges in the midfield an absolute train wreck. Whether or not I can adjust to this will be key in my decision on which game to go with. I can live w/ floaty goaline clearance headers and limited player individuality.

Does anyone even use the "through ball" button when playing on manual ? When I'm on full manual, I don't use it anymore cause there is no need to as the passing button does everything I want (or at least it tries to)

yes i tap it to very short pass it.

helps when you a couple of metres away from team mate, and normal pass would be too hard

I used if for short passing in FIFA09 too but it isn't necessary in FIFA10. But it is useful, as the players react different to it from normal passing and it is not exactly like normal passing, something is different with how the player pass the ball with the through balls.

Great news about the Dutch team, even if it was the worlds worst kept secret.

Gave the Pro 2010 Demo a bash last night. Didnt like it at all. Must admit though the pitch graphics looked awesome. I think if EA re-did their pitches the game would look 10x better. The player faces were very recognisable to their real life counter-parts but did anybody else think they looked a bit (grainy), not sure if this is a good explanation but just looked a bit weird. When i put Fifa10 back on it was so clear as to which is the more 'fluid' and 'organic' game. And how ppl can say shooting is better in pes than fifa NOW is beyond me. I scored a few long range efforts in PES but it felt like i had nothing to do with it, all AI.

I am starting to get a bit annoyed by the fact that you still get players running full speed into each other with no free kick as a result. In real life it is very rare that you actually are sprinting into a duel and they badly need to find a way to stop this. It is better than in FIFA09 as if you miss the ball, it will be a free kick most of the time, but you shouldn't be able to run at full speed into another player, it is way to effective and almost never happens in real life.

I've seen quite a few times in the demo freekicks given for essentially this, also seen yellow cards given for standing tackle fouls which I really liked, I know a lot of people complained about the card happy refs but IMO it's great and I look forward to players getting their 10th yellow and thus missing 2 games in MM ;)

fifa 10 is amazing.. i had played fifa 10 and pes 2010 on my xbox 360 fifa is 100% better !
only 1 thing i didnt like is that the players never made a bicycle goal
