yeah, u're probably right drekkard. i can't see any other reason not to go down this way, than the one u mentioned indeed. i also heard Roures isn't just close to barça, but he's also a personal friend of florentino.
what a shame though. when u think of what squads some clubs might build with 20/30 millions more (theese are the figures we're talking about), la liga would get so much better than it already is (and it already is a great league).

I'm very sad to be right, then... As you say, reducing Barcelona and Madrid to less than 100 M€ could afford doubling the money to all the minor clubs. That would make a more exciting competition.

On the other side, that would mean all the presidents of such clubs would rape even more their clubs and speak publically about the crisis while they put all the money in their pockets through shady credits, shady transfers... Corruption in Spain is a national disaster and a national shame.

The debt of the small teams compared to the debt of the big ones means the small clubs debt is incredibly bigger. Teams like Getafe, Mallorca or Zaragoza have a debt many times bigger than its resources. How have they reached that situation? How on earth they have been spending all those years WITHOUT resources to back it up? And why the banks have allowed it? Only for economical reasons. The presidents are interested in creating debt and the banks to take those credits and make easy money. Except the fans, everybody wins!

And now a thing I wanted to post many times all these days. That may be my own biasing towards the club I love, but trust me I'm trying to be objective and fair. BUT:

With more fairness in the money distribution, I think Barcelona would be even better than the rest. I mean, the difference between Barcelona and the 2nd would be huge. The only competition we have is Madrid, and Madrid depends a lot more on the money than us right now. Barcelona has spent less than half of what Madrid has spent in signings in the last 4 years. Imagine Madrid without half of their recent signings. Barcelona wouldn't have Alexis or should have kept Etoo instead of buying Ibra (and it could have been even better for us that way).

But Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Valdes, Puyol, Busquets, Pedro, Thiago costed nothing and Pique was almost free (5 M€). That's a hell of a team that would beat any team in La Liga, and specially a more weak Madrid than the current one.

So, funnily, a more fair distribution of the money could imply Barcelona walking to the title easier than in the last 2 seasons! At least that's how I see it. The generation of players in the team is something that happens in the world of football only once every 20 years or so (50s Madrid, 70s Ajax, 80-90s Milan). So a fair distribution of money would make Madrid go down near the rest of teams and the rest of teams more competitive. It would compact a little all teams, except Barcelona. I know it won't last forever, so let me enjoy it while it lasts!

Remember the 80s, when there was practically no TV money. Madrid had a great team based on key homegrown and national players (Butragueño, Michel, Martin Vazquez...). They totally owned the league for 5 consecutive years, with big differences and averaging almost 3 goals per match on some seasons. That's what happens when a team "clicks" and suddenly join 5-6 exceptional players at once. The other side of the coin is that, even though Madrid was dominating, there was a lot of competition and matches were very interesting.

So I think Barcelona would dominate La Liga anyway, and probably win the league by 10+ points. But overall the matches would be a lot more interesting, as they were in the 80s even while Madrid totally owned.

Drekkard: i agree with your last post. With a fair division of the TV-money Barcelona would be more dominant, but the generation they have now is a once in a lifetime generation (like the Michel's and the Butrageunio's for Madrid). That is also the reason why i like Barcelona a lot: they have so much homegrown players.

About television: since this year i subscribed to Sporting: two digital football channels. I can see matches from all over Europe. But the only La Liga matches one can see are those with Real Madrid and Barcelona. We even have a high profile Belgian player in goal with Atletico (Courtois, and we all think he will soon be among the best GK's in the world), yet we could not see the Valencia-Atletico Madrid game. Instead we got Madrid-Getafe and Sociedad-Barcelona.

Would love to see Barca v Napoli one day. Barca look really threatened on the counter, but of course control the match incredibly well.

Against Valencia, he did 2 assists and 2 penalties were committed to him (not given by the ref, though). Now think that this was his worse match of the season so far! Imagine the rest....

Absolutely amazing. Living legend.
 
Cruiff should have a statue aswell...he was more than a player for Barcelona. IMO he is the spiritual father of this great team.

Having a statue of Messi will be very inexpensive with little material too :P . I think we live in a decade where things move very fast compare to last 2-3 decades ago . Having Messi in this generation is something special . I`m really not sure if football in whole will be the same with the way the world is heading. imo

You too! I think Messi is one of those players that it doesn't matter what team your support, he's just so good and so exceptional that if you love football you must love this guy. If he was playing at Manchester, Liverpool, Milan or Munich, I would gladly pay to see him live. It's like watching Picasso draw a painting or Michelangelo sculpting his David. Something you must see live, not on Tv.

Totally agreed with Cruyff, but unfortunatelty that won't happen. He has many enemies, Rossell amongst them, but also from some of the catalan political parties and some groups.

Kubala
The Camp Nou stadium was built because of all the people that came to watch Kubala live. He turned the old stadium too small and they had to build a new one.

Cruyff
We all know his vision and his genius revamped our club and gave us a unique style, that now is our main important possession.

Guardiola
Probably the best player-manager of all times, in my oppinion. And he can still produce a lot more. A lot of people wants him to be president the day he retires as Manager. And if he wants, he will. He's maybe the only person in the history of the club that has raised unanimous acclaim.

Messi
This one should also have a statue when he retires. Even if tomorrow he signs for Madrid. I don't care, that boy is a genius.

Imagine arriving at the Camp Nou and see 4 statues of Kubala, Cruyff, Guardiola and Messi. God, I would pay to see this.

For all the lovers of "conspiracies", 4th blatant penalty to Messi this season that the ref decides to ignore. This one was so clear I don't get it. Statistically, we're the team with less penalties awarded away in the last seasons.

What an intense match at Molinon, right now. It will be tough to win matches away this season, Sporting Gijon shot only once, but they're putting an epic fight all over the pitch. Good match by now.

yeah fighting for dear life...closing down players like the plaque . The ref is allowing them to play on through the tackles, this dont look like a bottom of the table team.
 
Sporting Gijon gave a lot of trouble to both Barca and Real Madrid last season too! They defend in numbers and are very aggressive, determined and work as a unit. Shame about Diego Castro not being there any more to hit teams on the counter-attack. Gijon is a very tough match to play.

As for Messi's penalties, I don't agree that he should've gotten 2 against Valencia. They weren't as blatant as a Barca fan may make it sound. The one by Rami near the end was a 50-50 for me and could've gone either way. I wouldn't have given it anyway. The first one I missed so I can't comment on that.

The first one was absolutely blatant. As for the second, I think you didn't got it be ause it wasnt rami, it was migueñ from behind. If you watch rami and the ball you don't focus on miguel, that comes from behind and trips messi, who then collides with remi. All in all a clear penalty. I don't think it's a case of being a barca fan and make it sound, it's just an evidence, barcelona being the team with less penalties awarded in La Liga the last seasons..

First penalty on 2:35. Secon on 10:00, look how Miguel sacks Messi as if it's american football. If that's not penalty then I don't know what is.


The numbers are there and it's a little odd considering barcelona spends more time with the ball on the opponent area than practically any other team. At least you should concede that there is something really fishy in the fact we practically aren't awarded penalties of late.

As a matter of fact, in a madrid newspaper there was the data the other day that Real Msdrid has been awarded more penalties every season in the last 28 years...
