FC Barcelona Thread

I don't know about that. Some players take a step down to play for their home club. What if this club is now the best in the world and you got all the skills to play there and they desperately want you back?

Barcelona will surely try again. I read Thiago might be included in the deal.

Thiago has a future there I wouldn`t want him anyhow. La Liga is a different league ,he is groomed for them perfectly.

I can see why you think that. But I doubt he can actually play the "Messi role" IMO. Thing with Messi is that he makes it look easy when he plays there, so you naturally assume that someone with Sanchez' qualities should work too.
But like you said earlier, it doesnt matter anyway cuz Messi already plays there.

No disrespect to Udinese though, the quality of teammates is a major factor, When the opponents are mainly trying to stop you rather than you being one of 4-5 that their trying to stop.

alexis is a great player, he can play with forwards barça perfectly.

and cesc is vital..more important, xavi and iniesta can't play 60 match every season..and thiago is young..

i think that this is a great barça...

xavi-----busquets-----iniesta
cesc------mascherano---thiago

pedro----messi--villa
afellay---xxxx---alexis

and if rossi go to barça....aaarggghhh

Thiago is probably leaving if we manage to get Cesc. Keita is untouchable for Pep.
is possible...but i want thiago in barça...

keita is good player but is older than thiago, isn't same work, i know...but in important match, keita don't play much...

my personal tranfers:

IN
Cesc
Rossi
Alexis
Botia, or another centerback...

OUT
Milito
Bojan
Jeffren
¿maxwell?

yes, this is more expensive...

We won't sign any CB, Pep trust in Fontàs and Mascherano & Abidal were stunning there. I read he's looking for a LB and José Enrique from Newcastle has been linked with us.

"It's Complicated: Season Three". In this season, Cesc is caught tweeting a picture from a Shakira concert where a Barcelona shirt appears in the background planted by Pique and Puyol.

Interesting stat is that he only played 50% of Arsenal's games in the last three seasons. I believe Arsenal will sell presented the right offer this season.

The season officially ended yesterday for the club with the winning of the indoor football league title for the first time. It was the last match played by any of our professional "sections".

And it means a new record has been set in terms of trophies in a single season. This year the club has achieved 16 titles of the top level. Here are all of them:

FC BARCELONA 2010/2011 TITLES

FOOTBALL: Spain's Supercup, League title, Champions League.

BASKETBALL: Spain's supercup, Catalan Legue (this is a very minor trophy, but official anyway), Spain Cup and Spain League.

HANDBALL: Spain League, Champions League, Pyrenees League (a very very minor trophy played in summer).

HOCKEY: Spain Cup, Continental Cup (CL).

INDOOR FOOTBALL: Spain Cup, HandBall Cup (aka Carling CUP), Catalan Cup (very minor trophy), Spain League.

Add to this other domestic cups we had in non-professional sections like the Spanish League of Baseball and so...

In short, what an amazing season! We won domestic leagues of almost every important sport in Spain, many domestic Cups and many European Cups.
Truly the best season ever in terms of trophies.

Now, let's try to top it next year. Bloody difficult to do, but that's the challenge!

Well, there's also a Cycling team and an Athletism club, but they're not professionals and won't make it to the olympics! Would be great, though.

A lot of money goes every season to this sections, money that other big clubs use to sign players. It's one of the things that make Barcelona fans proud of the club, because historically this sections have been cared and loved by all fans. In fact, there's special fan groups of this sections, like the Dracs, the best barcelona supporters you will find. They're never at the Camp Nou. They are specifically fans of Baskbetball, Handball and Indoor Football. And the ambience there is awesome.

I've spent lots of hours watching all this teams play. It's like watching your little brothers. A nice feeling.

Drekkard, you anticipated my question, i just wanted to ask if there is also a cycling team...obviuously there is one.
Are there any good cyclists that have come out of that team?

Actually not. It was a professional section up to the WWII, and the team had even competed in Tour and Giro by then!

But then it became an amateur group after the war. Some years ago, Laporta tried to create again a professional team, and for some years (2004-2006, I think) they tried to make it to big tournaments. But sponsors never invested enough and there wasn't enough money in the club with the crisis and the debt so the team became again an amateur group as it is now. They participate in local competitions.

But that's also the nature of our Rugby, Volleyball, Ice hockey and Grass Hockey teams. They're all amateur but train and compete in the club facilities.

I remember Sporting Lisboa cycling teams participating in the Tour de France during the 80's (i think).

Sorry for the off-topic.

It seems as if Chelsea have made a bid for Villa (my son would be gutted if he left, he's an enormous Barcelona fan and Villa became his new hero after Eto'o left).
On the other hand according to the English press Barcelona is after Fabregas again ans will soon make a final offer..

Villa won't move. Something very strange should happen for Villa to leave. He has just arrived, adapted to the system and won a CL scoring a great goal. Pep has a lot of faith in him, and so do the fans. You can assure your son about that!

Unless Chelsea puts 50 M€ or some crazy number like that on the table that made the chairman think about it, it won't happen. And even in that case, it would be against the will of Pep. I firmly believe Sandro Rosell is dumb monkey, but not that much!

Cesc is presumably coming, but I hope it doesn't imply Thiago going away. I have a lot of faith in Thiago, he may be even better than Cesc if he learns to use his head more often and gets more constant in the midfield.

Great news for us! Thiago has renewed his contract until 2015! His release price now is automatically 90 M€. So this should clear a little all the rumours about him being sold this summer. At least for some time... Good for Thiago, if he can be more constant and keep his head he can go far, surrounded by people like Xavi and Iniesta should make it easier.
