FC Barcelona Thread

I'm still euphoric, and I'm happy because we watched a great football match. Man United went to Wembley to play football. That is what makes football something special, when 2 incredible teams agree on doing their best show in the pitch, not outside of it. One of the best finals I've seen.

Congratulations to Pep and all the boys. Their season has been astonishing and very very hard. It's the best football I've ever seen, too, and I've watched a lot. I still can't believe this is the same Barça I watched back in the early 80s. Cruyff started to change the history of our club, but what Pep is doing won't be repeated. Ever. That's just a dream. Winning with 68% of possession, 17 shots on goal...

Take note of: Valdes, Pique, Puyol, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Pedro. 8 homegrown players performed in the match. Winning with these boys makes it sweeter.

And then Puyol letting Abidalt lift the trophy. That was very emotional. I was touched. These guys are real friends. I like it.

Congratulations again to United fans; you're being very classy in defeat, that's a lesson everyone should learn. And also to Fergusson for what he has said, and Van Der Sar who is a legendary keeper. Also to Rooney and Giggs, that showed how big they are even when loosing. I have a special love for those 2, they're just so smart.

The referee was perfect. Just perfect. I can't think of any real bad call. Congratulations to London for having that marvellous stadium, where history is written (particularly well for us!).

congratulations barcelona.truly the best team in the world.amazing football and extreme class from all at barca for handing abidal the captaincy at the trophy presentation.this was one of the best displays in any cup final in a long time(bar the istanbul miracle).

Messi is man of the match, but for me the best one is Busquets. Everyone critize him, but in Wembley last night, there's no diver, no racism. There's only a classy DM. He combined perfectly with Xavi-Ini. He showed everyone how smart he is, and what he deserve with. He got talent, great talent, no doubt about that. Busquets had a great game, maybe his best game so far. Excellent.

Congrats to Barca, absolutely majestic. Great final too, played in the right way. No team in the world (ever?) could have handled your play, just breath taking.

Wonderful night of football, great scenes at the end and just well deserved title of the best team I've ever seen.

everyone forgets to say one name, PIQUE

For me Ineista again and again. What a classy person too. The whole team was stunning in the end but the way Messi was dropping back added soo much to the team.

It's just mad, you have so much of the ball and you're set up perfectly to attack but the way you play means you're also set up perfectly to defend should anything (rarely) break down.

Playing so many short passes means that if one loses the ball then you're all close to the ball anyway meaning pressing and hounding for the ball is only a few steps away.

Just as SAF said, I've never seen anyone take us apart so comprehensively. Fully deserved, no complaints and congratulations.

Was a lovely touch for Abidal to lift the trophy as well.

Congratulations to Barcelona, we are lucky to witness this side it's crazy how good they are.

Meh, I'm getting bored of seeing them dominating everyone all the time. :P

Get used to it, it's only just beginning, I think this Barcelona side's hunger will remain until they get to 10 European Cups and knock Real of their perch :))

You are wrong.
This side has a few older players who are very, very important (Xavi, Iniesta, Abidal). There is an abyss between the first eleven and the bench (although Afellay seems a good prospect)...i don't know if there are still good young prospect coming out of the Cantera...but to be honest i see this team last two season at most and then another team will take over (momentarily? Because they still have Messi of course...).

They will go down a level Gerd I agree and become a little bit more "beatable" but they are so far ahead at the minute and the way they transition from youth to first team makes it even easier, remember Barcelona aren't afraid to spend big when they need, the core of the side is their for the next 5 years.

That will be Liverpool then, perfect timing :P

Congrats guys, brilliant football with none of the diving / cheating nonsense. Perfect match! Although you've just raised the bar for expectations another notch. ;)

I want to believe that this Real Madrid team will gel during the next 2 or 3 years and overtake Barcelona. Current Madrid core is younger than Barcelona one. However, they will still have Messi...

I don't quite like Puyol, especially for some disrespectful attitudes, but the gesture of letting Abidal lift the trophy was of real class.

Fantastic win and a lecture of football yesterday!

sorry but imo, Barca already have amazing B team, that were doing well in second league...with this young talents, they can choose already some of them to first team...

Barca if they continue like now have still many trophys in them... Madrid will have to do a lot to overcome them imo...

and yeah, they will have Messi who is just 23 now...best years ahead of him... maybe 10 years + in him

just amazing for any Barca supporter to look forward in next seasons..

Madrid change too much for me to ever think they'll get their. money can buy you a great side and Real have one but no money in the world will get to the Barcelona level unless they figure out a way to sign Iniesta and Messi.

The likes of Ronaldo and Ozil also don't work hard enough combat Barcelona either I think Real will a few CL/CDR in the coming seasons with one of games or even avoiding Barcelona but they won't have the consistency to win the league.

There are great players coming from the youth teams: Thiago, Sergi Roberto, Deulofeu, Montoya... The all could be in the first team in the next 2-3 years. It's still too soon to know if they can match the level that current players have. In my oppinion, they won't, it's almost impossible to repeat a group of players from the youth team like Messi, Iniesta and Xavi. But, if Xavi can last 2 more seasons, I see no reason why we can't win one or two more trophies.

That is, if Messi doesn't get an injury and if Pep continues to be the coach. Any alteration of the equation to me would imply Madrid taking the next trophy. Simple as that. We're better than the rest, but there's no replacement for the best players. Simply, because there can't be any kind of replacement for the best players in the world. It's impossible. That's why our bench "seems" bad in comparison. They have a tough work to go to the pitch replacing one of the top 5 players in the world.

By the way, Pipa, we indeed won the Handball Champions Cup (our 8th in handball), but it wasn't against Madrid. Madrid never had a handball team.

this was siad during rijkaard's tenure as well."who is going to replace the likes of ronaldinho, deco, etoo?".the likes of busquets, pedro of cos.and they still have and awesome young team waiting in the wings.whilst i dont think they will dominate forever,i think they got it pretty much covered for years.lets not forget they have a replacement for xavi already.he's just biding his time at arsenal for now....

Well, Cesc is more of a replacement for Iniesta in my oppinion. We don't have a natural replacement for Xavi, and we won't have. He's one of those very special players, just as Messi. And I know that the day Messi lowers his performance, the titles will stop coming.

What's important here is that even when we loose (and we will loose), we have to continue to invest in this idea of football.

Fabregas doesn't have Iniestas ability to dribble but he is IMO a better "overall" passer than Iniesta so it makes sense for him to replace Xavi. Thiago from the youth team will become Iniesta's long term replacement IMO.

fuck this shit with fabregas already. bunch of disprespful bunch of players in barcelona. trying to get fabregas again and now the fans. leave him at arsenal

Well , Jonney we can`t be bother again mate. Look ! what Barca did to Mutd made them look like Blackpool. We have to accept it mate, We made him ,but we have to let him go!

Of course, that is the same thing Arsenal is doing with lesser clubs...when it's Arsenal (or any other favourite club), it is seen as completely normal and accepted, but if a bigger club comes fishing in your pond and shows intrest in your best player, it becomes outrageous...

I agree with drekkard that a player like Xavi can not easily be replaced. Fabregas is very, very good but not as good as Xavi...after all it is no coïncidence that Fabregas is on the bench for the national team..as much as i like Fabregas (a lot) i agree that Xavi, Iniesta and Xabi Alonso are better...

Xavi is unbelievable, messi is great and on the road to become greatest legend, but Xavi...

Have you seen what Xavi won in his career so far? EVERYTHING! He should get the golden ball this year..its time to honor the best midfielder in the world.

Bravo Barca!
<3

Congratulations Pep! Your only mistake so far was selling Eto :(
PS. now we have to get Fabregas, as soon as possible, he is still young and he needs Iniesta and Xavi by his side as mentors, by 27 he will be almost as good as them.
