FC Barcelona Thread

Figo won it for the season he had played at Barcelona, he had been only 2 months at Madrid when he won it. But the general ideas of the post of Gerd are what I think, too.

I've said it many times in the Madrid thread. Appart from silverware, the way Madrid is going the last years is the worse way they could take.

They have lost a lot of fans in Spain, their team is booed at every stadium (when it was the most popular team before Florentino) and their image has nothing to do with the image of a class winning team as it was for the last time with Del Bosque and Raul almost 10 years ago.

Florentino has put a "winning at all costs" line that will hurt them. And to make it even worse, they're not even winning! I think sacking Del Bosque or Pellegrini last year denotes the histerical ambience in whic Madrid has been stablished.

All the media surrounding the team is being ridiculous and is putting the club in a very negative image. Mourinho has been the last step. A blind step by Florentino. Specially when he decided to give him full power. Right now Mourinho is the most powerful person at Madrid and does what he wants, no matter how it will affect the club.

They have this kind of "soldier" mentality where everyone should repeat what Murinho says. And if anyone thinks different, it's an enemy and a conspirator. Really I spoke with some Real fans that are in this mood. It's a very dangerous thing for Madrid and the first voices have arisen. I have some Madrid friends that can't stand the club as it is.

Madrid had been traditionally what Barcelona is right now. I remember a lot of fans of Barcelona in the 70s-80s claiming about conspiracies. But well, right then the president of the referee committee was a man called Plaza who once said "As long as I'm president Barcelona won't win a single league title".

This "position swap" has been done in the last 15 years and some people that was used to another situation is having a tough time dealing with it.

@gerd: the way they gifted Madrid with 800 M€ to build absurdly high towers in Madrid is more ridiculous when you see they spent all those moeny in signing players for only 5 years. Besides, the towers were built by Florentino corporation and thanks only to the heavy involvement of the right wing party "PP" (their corporate friends. Florentino is a long time friend of former president Aznar). It was scandalous but as the media were also theirs (Florentino owns shares in the main media) the whole story quickly disappeared.

Right now it seems Florentino has invested so much to find he is losing, and the way they're behaving lastly is very poor and it's damaging the club a lot.

That's my oppinion, of course.

What has happened in those two matches is very bad for Madrid's image in the long term. Ramon Calderon has understood that.
IMO the current Madrid team symbolizes everything that is wrong with football. They spent zillions on fantastic players and not a single of them gets better. They have bought players of the year or Ballon D'Ors but most did not win it for Madrid (and i'm not sure, but it could be that not a single one has won a Ballon D'Or while playing for them, i'm hesitating about Zidane).
On top of that the way Real were financially saved is a disgrace and fraudulent IMO.

How long ago did they give a chance to a youth player? Casillas must be the last one. At the beginning of the season they bought this fantastic player from Racing Santander, he scarely ever played...Sometimes you get the impression that they buy player not to use them but to avoid them playing for other Spanish teams.

And now they turn out to be bad loosers and this after twoi matches were they played disgracefull negative football. In Camp Nou they tried, but were not good enoug. They should stop blaming referees.

Couldn't put it better. And agree with Drekkard. Real Madrid used to be a model club even though they had that reputation of being the dictators club and getting a big helping hand continually ie di Stefano being taken from Barca.

They even offered to loan Manchester United players for instance in the wake of the Munich tragedy.

Offtopic but it must be a sad day in Spanish sport having lost that gentleman and charismatic champion Sevriano Ballesteros.. May he rest in peace.

I think it's a poor article with a clear aim to simply whine (see what verb did I use?) against barcelona for whatever reason taking as an example a single match. If you share this view, then I think it simply shows how bitter are you right now and how limited and biased is you view of the game.

The article features poorly analysis of matches and statistics. I really doubt this "journalist" has watched more than 4 matches of Barcelona this year. And for some reason, some key and blatant bits of info, such as averaging 70% of possession or being the team with less penalties awarded in the league are not even there. According to this article, we should feel guilty of even winning corners and scoring from them.

@aboutreika: next time try to use your brains a little, don't simply come here to post the first negative thing you find out there against barcelona. You are becoming predictable and annoying.

I posted the link for humour purposes but clearly that went straight over your head.

Clearly there was nothing there hinting at a possible humourish interpretation of the link. Maybe if you had put it clear, then my stupid head would have get it.

Well i'm not sure if your sense of humour is the best Abou...it's a litle bit easy to hide yourself behind humour. Especially after all the ridiculous discussions in this thread...one could easily mistake your sense of humour for provocation.

You're just paranoid, gerd. Barring my comments of disappointment at the antics of Barca (and Real) in that semi-final first leg, I've been complimentary of Barca in this thread.

¡Enhorabuena Culés!

Once again a magnificent season for the Blaugrana. A totally deserved title without a doubt. Now it's time to slow down things at Camp Nou, 3 in a row are enough ok, let's give an opportunity to a certain white team to taste the flavour of the glory. :D

Cheers.

Thanks special_one, classy as ever. You know next year will be even more difficult, for sure, so your white team may have a chance! I assume you're talking about Valencia, isn't it? :P

We were better during the season, I have no doubts about it, but at times Madrid was very close and our key players are totally wasted after the wolrd cup and the large and tough season. But with the league already won, they can put away the pressure, relax, recover a little and go for the CL trophy with a better condition.

My special congratulations to Pep. He's the best coach we've ever had, and though the team has been dragging a lot the last 2 months, they made it again. Very well done. Next year we need a little of new blood and a rested squad.

I go to celebrate a little with my family!

Another congratulations from me. :P

What an amazing season for the barça fans. If you win the CL Cup (IMO Manu will win) you'll promote the Space League. :)

CONGRATULATIONS To Barcelona on their victory to a long season and to all the fans across the globe. Getting crown CHAMPIONS w/ 92 pts is the way to do it! Pep is :KING:

Congrats to Barcelona, 3rd title in a row and doesn't look like your going to slow down any time soon.

That pic was hilarrrious!Anyway I think that Barca deserved the title,I think that they were playing just magically all the season.
