FC Barcelona Thread

The problem today was mentality. It was an embarrasing match and an embarrassing attittude by all the players in the pitch. And embarrassing how Pep didn't try to change it. At this time of the season, you have to play all the matches at full pelt, or at least go to win.

Personally I hate it when we decide to have possession only for the love of it, but without any intention to go and score. When we do this, we ALWAYS end up badly. This team is designed to kill. And when Pep or the players forget that, we turn ourselves into a predictable, boring team.

I was bored, annoyed and infuriated with them all. If I can't stand something, is the lack of effort and will. It's one of those things I would never tolerate to my players if I were a coach. Thanks god Madrid also lost their match.

But the point is: if we had gone to kill at the Bernabeu league match, and yesterday we played to win, we would have won the title. The details make big differences now.

The fear is they go to the CL match with the same attittude of "it's done". Then we can have a ridiculous and ashaming night upon us. Pep, please, don't let this team go down like Rijkaard did. This minimal effort attittude we're having in the last months can't go on.

Drekkard ...give them a chance. Barca has played madrid 3 time in the recent weeks. 3 TIMES. 3 game of intense pressure, intense tackle, and emotions. For the first time in about 2-3 years. A team has a core desire of beating us and actually HURTING us. the players showed sign of tiredness. and things getting harder for us as madrid discovered over 3 game a good way to isolate us in the midfield and to close space. Others teams from la liga are looking at those tactics too I bet Man u are looking at those tactics too. We had injuries this season...abidal, maxwell, etc...

I think we need to switch things up a bit and let Villa play in a cf position maybe he will rediscover form or let messi be back wide or just switch it up during the games but Give them a chance...this team been at the number one spot for a long period of time its normal that they will eventualy drop. and Recent weeks has been hard ones...

Yes, I know, I know, but if some players are tired, let them rest. The attittude can never be like in the 2nd half. It was horrible to watch. I mean, 45 minutes without the will to play beyond the halfline... I don't like it. It's not what we are used to do.

About tuesday's match, I think it's crucial to play the match as if it was a final. Forget about the first leg and focus on winning the match. Any other plan would be too dangerous.

And for fans of conspiracy theories: we were wrongly disallowed a goal again. It should have been the 1-2. Instead, the ref awarded Real sociedad a penalty to win. I wonder how quickly will fans of conspiracies forget this one also.

That conspiracy thing is a complete joke...theres an article on how mourihno just proved hes a real prick...the article has all the wrongly call that went his way with porto chelsea and inter that got him to win the cl titles etc...

No matter what happen and tbh thank god things go barca way, I never see a barca player making dangerous challenge or not actualy wanting to play the ball. hopefully things goes our way but sometimes it does not, this match proves it.

Im not a fan But I do enjoy watching this club, probably the best team in history. People saying they are not cause of their CURRENT form is a madrid fan =p eheh

Just asking because you used words like "us" and "we" . I like Barca too and love their football ,but I also like RM not a fan of their football :P

You're a strange animal, Beboq, liking those 2 clubs! You always makes my head go dizzy!

But then I remember I like the Celtics and the Lakers (and right now also supporting the Bulls and the Grizzlies...).

 Wow you putting it like that Barca/Laker and RM/Celtic , never thought how strange that is. I like Barca more because their academy and developing of players and the style they play everything I believe a club should aim to do. RM was more to do with my dad he liked them in the 70`s so that`s where it starts and ends

This is getting really embarrassing, especially for Real resorting to such things because they couldn't accept the defeat. Deal with it already.

Busquets keeps giving me reasons to hate him even more. Check out how he acts his face is hurt after talking to Ramos.

Hey Aboutreika, I'm still waiting for those videos with the aggressions of Marcelo (penalty and a red card), Ramos and Albiol, or the divings of Di Maria and Ronaldo. Or the handball by Ramos at the 4th when he dived to simulate an injury just to avoid the card (and he avoided it). Though I have the feeling you won't post them. In fact, you deny their very existence.

It's ridiculous to come here a week later already only to post whatever you can to try to justify your team and it's coach... Get classier. Talk about football. And next time make sure your team don't waste 90 minutes with only 2 shots on goal from 30 yards. In fact, they did more aggressions than shots on goal. Mmmm, that's what you should be worried about.

Drekkard this is the video Real reported to UEFA. That is why Aboutreika posted it.

He always posts 50% of the reality and come here to pour any negative thing he can, not even trying to talk about football. On the other side, I've asked many times to him to talk about Madrid aggressions and diving to no luck...

Tonight I'm not going to the stadium... I lended my ticket to a close friend because I wanted to watch it with my family and a friend. It's going to be strange watching it in the tv, but hope it's worth it.

I really want Barcelona to play it as a final. Trying to outscore them, as if the 1st leg didn't exist. And focusing on football and refusing to enter in battles.

I have no doubts that Madrid will be as aggressive as they've been up to now (even without Pepe), and they will try to create quick counters from start. In theory, Mourinho should forget about 3 DMFs and play with more people upfront. Let's see if they do. And if they do, let's see if we can take benefit of it and have a fast movement of the ball. The key is to shoot on goal and scare them, so they don't make a high pression and fall back a little.

I think Real will once again show up with a kind of defensive tactic like in the first leg - at least for the first half. If they succeed in scoring from a quick counter and keep barca away from their goal - the tactic will remain, I guess. I doubt that Mourinho will start with an offensive line-up.
so this might also end up in an ugly game, but I hope that barca will score early so that real needs to play more offensive and that we can enjoy a better match than in first leg. for the final result i wish barca to move to wembley !!

It's kind of funny that at a certain point in the season Mourinho complained about the lack of available strikers on the team, and then against Barcelona he had Higuain, Benzema and Adebayor... on the bench...

You're just chatting out of your arse now, drekkard. Look back through this thread and you'll see I've been extremely complimentary about your side over the years.

I'm not a Madrid or Mourinho fan by any stretch of the imagination. Tbh, I've always liked Barca a bit more.

I haven't denied the existence of gamesmanship by Real but I've taken the stand that both sides are at fault here.

It seems when your side is questioned by another supporter (regardless of who they support) you just throw the "Madrid fan" card at them.

Anyway, good luck to your side tonight and I hope we'll get to play you in the final and get some redemption for our defeat in the 2009 final. :)

are we going to see a episode of eastenders done in a football pitch for 90mins or are we going to see a proper game of football tonight?

Well Jonny, the chances of watching a proper game of football may be slim right now as tons of water are falling from the sky! I hope it ends before the match, or else the pitch will be totally flooded. A pitty if it continues like that, because it will be impossible to play football at all. It's been like this for 20 minutes now, and the sky is black... I don't know if UEFA is so slave to TV that they will force to play it anyway, but if it continues to rain like it is now, it would be better to cancel the match.

@Abou: I don't think you've being fair at all. To those people posting videos and talking about childish conspiracies I simply asked them to be fair and post videos of all the things that happened, not only choose the videos that go against Barcelona or have selective memory as you prove again and again. As you should know if you read my posts, I have criticized a lot some players of Barcelona and some attitudes. I have yet to see you talking about the aggression of Marcelo, that injured Pedro, for instance. "Speak out of your arse"... sure, mate. Whatever...

Yes, the Marcelo stamp was stupid, he knew exactly what he was doing, very lucky to get away with that.

I've probably overlooked some Madrid incidents because it's very typical of a Mourinho side, so it doesn't surprise me as much as Barca stooping to that level.

Maybe Barca were just trying to fight fire with fire. But that doesn't excuse a possible incident of racism.

Guys let's stop these foolish arguments about a stupid travesty of a football match.
Let's enjoy the good matches.

:CONFUSE: It now suddenly stopped raining as if it was a magical spell. One hour of absolut water courtain and now it stopped...

It's still quite dark, but maybe the pitch can keep a perfect condition!

@Abou: I never dismissed a racism incident. I said like 100 times that I hate Buscuits (love that nickname) and I don't like Alves attitude. What else should I do, commit sepukku? :COAT:

I know we shouldn't wish injury on other players.

But surely we can get away with it with Mascherano? Please?

I felt seriously ill with anger just then. Absolutley despicable excuse for a human being.

Barcelona where great between the 30th and the 45th minute.
The other 75th minutes i wasn't that impressed with them, except for the pressing in the first half. In the second half Madrid were the better team, but they never really were a treat...

If Barca play the final against Man Utd (wish is as good as a certainty), i think they'll have to play better than this evening. It seemed to me that they where a bit tired in the second half. I think Ferguson has learned a lot in this match. And can we please talk about football now?

They didn't have to score, they looked good to me, taking back the ball and passing it around wasting time. Why put many people forward and risk a counter attack that they are so vulnerable too.

Speaking of Utd, it felt like watching a match at Old Trafford with the amount of small fouls always going to the homeside and the away team never getting anything for even the most blatent fouls...

:P

Glad Barca are through though, just a shame the match was crap.

I think this match is a proof that Mourinho is not a top class coach. He has great players in his squad and yet you never see a footballistic routine in this team.
Apart from Xavi Alonso (great pass for Madrid's goal, that from Iniesta was pure genius), Man Utd has much more football intelligence in the team.

Gab, i did not like Barcelona in the second half because they were scarcely able to vary between long and short passes. Short passing gamer is wonderfull if you don't get yourself in trouble with it. In the second half this was frequently the case....a team like United will punish for those mistakes.
I know that Madrid played against one of the best club teams ever, but they were very, very poor throughout both matches.
