FC Barcelona Thread

Rumors are saying Roman is clearing out coaches n staff at the bridge to line up Pep n Co.
Lazy journalism, they're linking us with Guardiola just because of the contacts with Begiristain. I don't know if Pep could leave Barcelona but he definitely isn't coming to Chelsea.

Edit: Damn, impressive scoreline,congrats.

Brilliant game of football so far. It's got everything, the goals, the amazing football, the handbags, the skills. More than living up to the hype :)

Messi unbelievable !

About the game, really sad to see the World Cup guys fighting just after some months.

Sometimes it seems they are really just a bunch of semi-civilised animals running behind a ball and trying to kill everyone not having the same dress they wear...

@Barca: Congrats, great match and thank you for showing Real how to play modern and offensive football.

But one more thing: Is the first or the second smiley the Pique 5-finger-smiley? :BYE: vs. :TTTH:

Congrats!! :WORSHIP: :WORSHIP: :WORSHIP:

Barca just set a new standard for the saying: "PLAYING THE OPPONENTS OFF THE PARK"

DIVINE football! You got the feeling God has manifested in form of a football team!

"The Special One was taught a Special lesson today, a lesson on just how Special Barca is!"

Hahaha brilliant quote from a friend of mine. Crazy Barca fan!

Congrats to you guys (although I think drekkard is the only culé on here lol).

I'm proud to be Madridista but ashamed by Ramos and Ronaldo behavior. I'm sorry.

Edit: PS: FC Porto 5-0 Benfica, Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid

I'm tired of football nowadays.

Congrats,i never see such a football before,me and my brother was talking if its a computer game or real match because of those passes, one thing i like to say about Ronaldo,he is the most conceited and arrogant person God ever created..

Just arrived from the stadium. We had to drink some cocktails and beer after that splendid lesson of football at the highest level.

I'll say it again, Messi is the best player I've ever seen in my life, and this team plays the most perfect football I've witnessed. Just amazed and mesmerized for what I see day in day out.

And all this, with the presence of 9 players from the youth teams against a Real that spent 400 M€ in 2 years. If heaven exists, I'm in it right now.

Very glad that Villa scored after Mourinho directly criticized him some weeks ago for not scoring much. Very glad to beat Real 5-0 when Mourinho moaned to the teams that face Barcelona for allowing easy wins. I guess he should moan at himself now. Sporting Gijon coach Preciado will be quite happy after he was harshly criticized by Mou for losing 1-0 to Barcelona.

Ronaldo was alone, it's hard to play without a proper team behind. But his attitude, again, was not the correct one. Some of the Madrid players played too dirty. Ramos is an idiot, he deserves some time on the bench. Carvalho should have been sent off twice.

I didn't like Pique's attitude, though, showing the hand. IT's disrespectful and it's not the first time he acts like a child. Someone should make him think twice.

The_Special_one, you're a fair guy and the season is not over yet. Surely there are thousands of reasons to get up and smile. Football not being one of them as I see the Porto-Benfica result, but hey, it just can't turn any worse! Kudos to you for being sportive!

I tell ya what , Catalonia imo became it`s own country ! you are truly bless to witness that level of football. Passionate teamwork from start to finish.

Yep thank you The Professor! hahaha f'n Zlatan must be pissed off at this Guardiola master class lol.

Drekkard, what were the ticket prices like for this match?
Must have been very expensive but worth it!

Yesterday evening football won 5-0 against fraud...fantastic.
Congratulations to Barcelona.

Barcelona played with homegrown players whereas Real Madrid keeps on buying Ballon D'Or winners, while they never produce one...not from their youth but neither from the former Ballon D'Or winners. Enough said i think.

I'm also glad that the score is that high...

lol so much bitterness Gerd. Strong negative feelings towards someone/something like that isn't healthy amigo.

I for one am glad Barca spanked Madrid too and did it in INCREDIBLE fashion! :D but for entirely different reasons than Gerd! :D

I don't think Real Madrid is devil incarnated nor Dr. Evil's football team. :P

And Real has produced the likes of Casillas, Guti and the legendary #7 Raul to name just 3 quickly off top of my head nd in current team while no world-beaters, they have produced decent footballers like Arbeloa and Granero.

Anyway congrats to Guardiola and Co. Barcelona must have been partying all the way till morning and I already heard Barcelona is one of the best places in the world in terms of 'night-life / great night clubs etc. ' last night even though a Monday, it must have been WILLLLLD!!! :D

The football was absolutely breathtaking - one of the best performances in a 'big' game I've ever seen.

But still soured for me by the usual histrionics from the Barca (and Real) players. I understand Madrid getting frustrated, but why oh why is diving and being pricks as much a part of Barcelona's ethos as playing sumptuous football?

Guardiola should not be allowed to touch the ball, much less sucker Ronaldo in and then throw it away from him. I mean, does he think that is clever? Showing how cool he is? And then Messi, rubbing up against Carvalho waiting for some reaction...and then to the floor. Then of course we have Valdes, the slowest man on the pitch unless there's an incident, when he arrives at Superman speed to yell, push and basically be a prick.

It just saddens me. They've taken the high road with their football, but are stil very much digging through the mud with their attitude and approach to sportsmanship.

@PLF: there are practically no tickets on sale for the whole season. 90% of the stadium has always been for members of the club. But the 10% of the tickets would be around 150 € the cheapest, I guess. But with only 10% of the tickets on sale, the "resellers" can put prices up to 600€.

Once I was offered 700€ for my member card for a match from a Man Utd fan that had no ticket. I go to the stadium to enjoy football, even if my team loses, so I said no. I will never resell my pass to the stadium. I didn't do it even in the dark years of chairman Gaspart.

The annual fee for the members is around 1.100 € and give you access to watch ALL the matches of the season (League, Cup and European matches of any kind). It's around the cheapest in Europe and for sure one of the best deals right now in terms of return of investment...

If you watch the base of the "A" letter in the mosaic photo in this url, that's where I'm seated!

@Beachryan: While I agree about most of the things you say, I don't think you're right about Messi. Its' VERY strange to see him diving, he usually is tackled to death and he just raises and resumes playing. Some times he may fall to the floor due to inertia (he's so quick) but he won't stay there moaning. Yesterday he made a mistake for making drama of an action, but it's very rare to see that in him, for those who watch him 50 matches every season.

@Gerd: As I said too, playing with up to 9 players raised in the club and playing like this is something that is difficult to achieve. Only Ajax can historically compare to this generation of footballers that keep coming out. We still have Thiago and Fontás coming this/next season, and others... It's specially delightful to win with this boys you've watched playing since they were boys. It's a victory for romanticism in football. Money is not everything. We should rejoice.

It might suprise you PLF, but i have nothing against Real Madrid.
What i do think is that global idols should be role models. I understand that young players can't always be role models (i'm nearly 50 and far from a role model), but a venerable institution like Real Madrid should be an absolute role model however. They are not, because IMO they are not competing fairly. If you win, do it in style (which Barcelona did yesterday, maybe apart from the usual litle incidents that beachryan describes in the above post).

Like i already said, Madrid has produced some wonderfull players, but i don't agree with the way Florentino Perez is running his club. This is bad for football. Big clubs like Madrid are trying to "outmuscle" other clubs in order to create a monopoly of the big clubs...this is not good for sports. The American sports have understood this. FIFA doesn't...but what do you expect of a federation where corrupt people get high positions and can decide about which country can organize the WC.

Off-topic: professionally i am involved in the Belgian-Dutch bid (i've made the community part of the bid) and i'm not sure if i would be a happy if the 2018 WC would be here. I would be delighted as a football fan, but not as a citizen. It is astonishing what FIFA asks for their executives: tax free expenses, specially reserved highways, if the WC makes losses then all the losses are at the expense of the organizing countries while all the gains will be for FIFA...public opinion is more and more against the WC in Belgium and Netherlands...profesionally i'm not allowed to say that, but i think public opinion has a strong point...ordinary people are not foolish. Rant over and sorry for the off-topic.

Drekkard, i am strongly in favour of the socio system, it's a rather democratic way of running a football club (but let's not exagerate this, if i'm not mistaken Madrid's chairman is also elected by the socio's).

Yesterday was indeed a triumph for romanticized football (and i'm a strong believer in romanticized sports), but it is a shame that people had to pay 12 euro to see that big match on television. I am strongly in favour of free television coverage.

To make competition more fair, the European Union or UEFA should induce some sort of tax that is related to the the amount of transfer money a club spends...the money this tax generates could go to social work and grass roots football. This would facilitate youth development in football. This could be a very good thing for litle clubs but also (for example) for English football which has a strong competition but which has not enough technically skilled players to have a decent national squad...

Yes, some kind of salary and transfer cap should be made, in the style of NBA. The problem is that this systems work great on "closed" competitions. NBA has a limited number of teams, for example. The "luxury tax" you propose is also grea, but I would add that this luxury tax should be lowered for every youth player you have in your team.

Socio system is great. Only Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona are like that in Spain. Economics forced most of the teams to be "bought", which is a pitty.

I mean, Barcelona spends about 70 M€ per season on average, but also raises 2 or 3 players form the youth team each year. That should boost teams to sign more carefully but also put youth players in the team.

That's why Barcelona fans have a great respect and admiration for Bilbao. A team with 90% of players raised in the club, no ads in the shirt and socio system. This is greatness and makes their fans proud.

Mes que un club ... for sure :D

This was fucking great :D

If i ever stay one year there i will buy a oneyearticket :WORSHIP:
Hope they win the Champions League this year.
