English Premier League thread

wow, crazy start to the weekend of football in terms of goals.

edit: I think you might consider Wigan to be in form.

I can't believe today's game at the Liberty. Jacks 3-0 up against already relegated Wolves after 15 mins (first goal after 25 seconds!), 4-2 at half time, and yet we "do a Man U" and draw 4-4...... or rather we held on to draw 4-4! Ironically word was getting around that Fergie was watching the game from the directors box!

Some really shocking defending from both sides, Alan Hansen will have a field day on MOTD tonight. I think Brendan Rogers will be adding a couple of defenders to his summer transfer shopping list, that's for sure.

Finally, congrats to Southampton on returning to the Premier League, well deserved. Hard to pick who will get the final third promotion spot, just as long as West Ham get to the final! :SMUG:

It's no use to discuss religion now guys. If it weren't for the doctors he wouldn't be alive now, but I think Muamba's take on it is that God had him surrounded by the right people when he needed the most. For instance, that Tottenham fan who is a doctor and was on the stands.
It could go either way, he could easily be dead by now, but the personnel who took care of him were indeed brilliant.

Amazing performance from Chelsea. 6 goals against QPR including Torres hattrick. Class is permanent. Proud to be Blues!

Depressing.

Depressing that otherwise it's pretty much nailed on to be 'Arry.

Having said that the team will still be full of people who don't deserve to play for England either way so I guess it doesn't matter.

Looks like a straight shoot-out between 'Arry and Woy. Unfortunately.

Fucking sad state of affairs this.

I think 'Arry would be the better person to deal with all the egos/bellends in the England team and the poisonous bastards in the English press, but I don't think he's up to the tactical level required at international level. Plus he would probably get bored due to not being able to sign players.

Woy would offer previous experience of international management with a decent track record of over-achieving with smaller nations (not unlike England), and he possesses some kind of tactical nous at least, but would most likely invoke the wrath of the England players/primadonas for having the audacity to ask them to train hard. The football would almost certainly be 'functional'.

Rock and a hard place really for the FA. We should have never allowed this situation to arise whereby there are no real standout English managers in the game.

But given the choice it would be Woy for me. The only other potential candidate if we must have an English manager is Alan Pardew, and to be honest I don't think it's a bad shout.

Imagine Alan & Terry  WAGS are encourage to visit EVERY training n hotel stay.

Alan: Did you smash it!
Terry: nah!
Alan: I`ll smash it!
Terry : Bring in Crouchie his bird is fit
Alan : I`ll smash it!
Terry: Theo should come too that will be easy pick`in
Alan: Do me a favour love! I`ll need to Smash it!

To be fair though I think Pardew has done a fantastic job at Newcastle on a modest budget and seems to get the best from his players. I'd like to think he's matured as a man and a manager and learnt from his mistakes.

He won't even be considered for the job though so no point talking about it. :))

As a Spurs fan: what a waste. It all went downhill for Spurs after Capello went, with all the specualtions around Arry...
Redknapp could be the big loser in all this. As a Spurs fan, i want another manager.

Arry does not rotate enough: look how good Pienaar is doing for Everton. Redknapp scarely used him at all. Same goes for Pavelyuchenko, Darren Bent and (less) Krancjar and Ciorluka.

They'll regret appointing Hodgson, not necessarily because he's a bad manager, but because the media and majority of average England fans want Redknapp.

Hodgson won't be given a chance by the vultures and it'll steam roll till the media finally get their way.

Completely agree with you. Hodgson has something oldfashioned decent..it's not what currentdays football fans want. I mean look at how people talk about him in the Liverpool thread, whereas their current manager is even worse and Redknapp certainly is not better than Hodgson.

I was in the U.A.E when he was appointed manager of their national team. He didn't do well imo and the team played differently to what they were used to. But hey, this is what he had to say back then,
"That was a period where I didn't know where my career was going. But all these experiences enrich you and it was good to know I could get my message to players who many say are uncoachable. It's hard work; they're basically lazy. But I had them drilled and pressuring opponents almost like an English team. Most coaches who go there are just fannying around, but it's not my nature."

I'm fine with Woy. England don't have a shot at this tournament anyway, and he'll at least play the best team rather than egos. Redknapp would handle the media better, but I would say he won't produce as good performances on the pitch.

So, little match today this evening...soooooo nervous...

Why nervous?

Man Utd will win. Don't worry.

No need to be nervous anyway. If Man Utd win, then great! If not, there's always next season.

So let's just chillax and enjoy the show :)

Man, wish I found it that easy. I need to take a break from football - brings me more stress than my real life!

I am secretly very excited about next season though. We're just a few players away from being a very, very good young team.

Oh and ahead of the match, I think 3-1 to City, with them scoring 2 in the first half, us pulling one back just to give a semblance of hope and then Tevez scoring on the break to crush it.

I dont even thought match will be as bad as this one , the only good thing of this 2 hours was looking those fans at the last of match

Play Giggs and Park = Lose the match. No idea why Fergie would expect any differently. It's happened everytime they've been together in the past 8 months.

Weak management, weak players.

Face it, City have a better team than United. They bought it at great expense, can't afford to pay for it with their own revenues but hey, who cares. It is still a better team.

Its not over yet folks! I tell ya what how good was clichy on the night he is normally left for dead vs Nani . Toure was a beast in the middle (drug test  ) Nasri you silly sod glad he didn`t score the winner :BRMM:

I'm not sure about Touré's match.
On the one hand he was everywhere, on the other hand he made some pretty poor offensive decisions (too egoistic). nasri played very well, but my oscar goes to Barry.

Yeah Barry was good but Toure was just muscling players out Barry was like soften them up for me mate  You don`t see Jones getting ran over like that. Toure took the shots purely on high tempo confident.
