English Premier League thread

That. Is. Outrageous. If you love football, stop whatever it is you're doing, and go watch that goal.

Good lord it's unreal.

those are just too much for a single game. papiss cisse :WORSHIP:

p.s. watch his goal v swansea as well if you've missed.

The battle for 3rd and 4th is going to be as interesting as the title challenge.

I've heard a lot of people saying this year's Premier League has been a poor one but for me as a neutral it's been much more exciting at the top this season.

Drool. It's better when it's just repeating.

Amen! lol

If they can get that CL spot, Alan Pardew should definitely win Manager of the Year. Hell he should win it even if they don't.

City must be a bit worried now. It's theirs to lose it and who's to say they'll take max points of last 2 games? Both Manchester teams might drop points. Question is who'll drop more. City may get a draw at Newcastle but Man Utd must and will beat Swansea.

I agree with the fact that this is anything but a boring EPL. The relegation fight is still there between 4 teams with 2 games remaining. The hunt for lucrative CL places is there too again between 4 teams for 2 places. And then there's the title challenge which is neck and neck on same points with 2 games remaining as well.

It may be late in the season but there's still a few turns and twists left you feel.

It was boring from a January point of view who would of thought so much change within a few weeks MCity were ahead by 12pts, Spurs camping in 3rd with 13pts adrift. Liverpool & Chels were fighting for 4th. Newc was a fairytale fighting 5th with Arsenal. Then, Mutd, with all their injuries playing woeful were stuck in 2nd.

Now ,the fight is everywhere from top to mid even the bottom very interesting but lets be honest with 2 games left everything can change .

Great goal, great result, great Newcastle team. Imagine them finishing 4th and Chelsea winning the CL...that would be utterly cruel...(and once again: i have nothing against Chelsea).

Beachryan: i haven't seen what Mikel did, but if he elbowed Tioté he should get a post factum ban. And about Rooney (sorry, but you brought it up this time): he got away with it against Wigan...he never got banned.

About Papis Cissé's goal: that was a magnificent goal but far from the best goal this season. The best goal this season was a Swansea goal in a match they even lost. What was special about this goal was the fact that it was the result of splendid passing, perhaps 15 or 20 fantstic passes. The finish itself was nothing special but the build-up was what football should always be. Unfotunately i forgot against which team Swansea scored that goal. For people who want to know, i'm certain i mentioned that goal in this thread.
Unfortunately, for some reason people tend to underrate collective goals in favour of individual efforts (like the overhyped Crouch goal).

And yes Sina, even if Newcastle miss the CL, then Pardew should be manager of the year together with Brendan Rogers (if that is the name of Swansea's manager).

But best goal is an individual thing, it's more of a look what he did from nothing type of recognition. Best build up or team goal could also be a thing though, and maybe should.

"Individually" that is his best goal for me.

I find the prospect of Alan Pardew managing in the Champions League a delicious one.

Come on Newcastle, make it happen. I'd love to see Cisse tearing it up across Europe next season, provided they can keep hold of him.

I'd hate to see him go somewhere else. Especially if it was to a "higher" team in the PL.

He just came in so I don't see him leaving this summer.

Demba Ba is much more likely to leave if any.

I'd rather both of them stay put. The fans love them and they look like they're having fun.

It would be nice if Newcastle would not loose any players and could strengthen their team...
I hope Marveaux can play for them next season, he was a very promising player before his injury...
And who knows they might even strengthen their team and all this due to Andy Carroll and Liverpool.

I think Demba Ba might leave, but clubs will want to see if Cisse can do this next season or not, if he can then it won't be long before the biggest clubs in the world come calling.

Too early on Cisse for me. Let him play at least a year at this level and see what happens.

This is another brilliant website if people are interested in the financial side of the game - maps out team salaries by league so you an see the most unbalanced.

Somewhat surprisingly to me, the Spanish league is more skewed than the SPL, and the Bundesliga looks about the most balanced. Prem in the middle:
